WOW last of us option menu should be published as a book 😂 The steam deck is so powerful that both options looks great, obviously the custom set does look better with the lighting and sharpness. If I ever get a steam deck I will come back to this. Love it 👏

@TheNameIsSRАй бұрын
I don't think you need the ingame framerate cap and the Steam Deck limiting the framerate, turning one off might make a slight difference
@RetroCrisisАй бұрын
You could be totally right. I just set 60 on both just to avoid any superfluous frames being generated. As a test I left both uncapped on my OLED Deck, and there were moments were it was hitting 80....but sadly the dips were also just as high, hence the belts and braces with the frame caps
@TheNameIsSRАй бұрын
@@RetroCrisis yeah I'd rather have a stable 60 then an unstable 80 👍🏻
@LianCasablacksАй бұрын
Frame generation DOUBLES whatever the in game frame cap is set to, so if you want to get 60 fps you need to cap in-game at 30 fps and with frame generation on it will deliver 60 fps. If you cap it at 60 fps frame generation will constantly try to give 120 fps which is very unstable for the Steam Deck. Now for the Steam Deck's native fps cap I've tried both 60 fps cap and uncaped and I didn't really noticed any difference 🤷🏻 This game at 60 fps EATS battery life like crazy btw, Deck wouldn't even charge when plugged to the wall lmao
@TheNameIsSRАй бұрын
@@LianCasablacks Frame generation would probably work well for this game, but I'm guessing it doesn't actually improve the rate at which the game accepts inputs? So for stuff like fighting games frame generation from 30 to 60 doesn't really give the desired results
@LianCasablacksАй бұрын
@@TheNameIsSR I actually think it works great now as opposed to a couple of months ago. This might just be the future of handheld gaming, if this was running on a game that could actually mantain consistent 30 fps or above, it would work perfectly.

I wish Proton had the same kind of frame gen we got on Windows with the last version of Lossless Scaling... Maybe a bit later down the road. Lots of those AAA console ports shows optimization problems when trying to push above the frame rate they targeted.
@sprayartist8459Ай бұрын
@@_oBSOLEte_ same here, I'm praying someone somewhere is going to make this a reality for Steam Deck
@RetroCrisisАй бұрын
I need to try out Lossless Scaling on PC. To be honest on a small steam deck screen, you could totally play this with frame gen on at lowest settings and you can easily hit 70 to 80 frames a second and it looks fantastic on an OLED. I think the video is capped at 60 because of my capture card.
@sprayartist8459Ай бұрын
@@RetroCrisis its unfortunately not compatible with Steam Deck, unless you're running a Windows build.
