I've played the first game all the way through and watched playthroughs of it multiple times. It is about 90% accurate to the game. They changed a couple things about it but it shouldn't affect the story too much. SPOILER? The main difference between the show and the game is that they removed the spore aspect of the infection. You can get infected by inhaling the spores coming off of dead infected. For example, when we saw what that fungus did to that person, Joel and Tess had their masks on to keep from inhaling the spores in the game. But here, they don't have/use any masks to protect themselves.

Both games are phenomenal. You should play them. The first got a new remake so the play the new one. The show really did the game justice this episode. I was truly impressed.

You should totally play the game, would be very entertaining to watch. This show isn't bad it's pretty solid and reasonably faithful so far, but the original game is so much better.

Just so you know, the music in the opening credits is from the actual game soundtrack itself. It's the main theme of it 😊 Also, the actress that plays Marlene (leader of the Fireflies of the Boston QZ) is the same actress that played Marlene in the game! She's the only one of the OG VAs to reprise her role for this show. Troy Baker (Joel) and Ashley Johnson (Ellie) are also confirmed to play a cameo role in the show too. You guys should play the game when you have a chance! Doesn't have to be now, could be whenever you have the time but it's well worth it 👍

One of the directors and writers of the show is the same that was the writer and creative director of the game, so they are keeping it quite close to the original story of the game.

The fungus from the show is actually real. Cordyceps and Ophiocordyceps fungi are real and do infect insects. In tropical, subtropical, and temperate forests there are species of fungus that infect insects like ants and other invertebrates. Fugal cells start growing in the body and interfere with the nervous system, causing them to behave differently. When the host dies the fungus sprouts a stalk from the body that will spread more spores. Buuut they’re not capable of growing at our internal body temperature or contending with our immune system so we’re all good. People have been eating and using them in medicine for years and years already.

@@userrr4041 yup, started watching ep 1 without knowing the description or summary, it's alright for me until mid (it's so devastating when the daughter died) but it demotivated me when i learned that she's the main character and more when she was different to the og character that she was supposed to be so yea sad
