This video clips shows Maj. Gen. adisa kneeling down before MAj. Almustapha, hi far junior officer.
Its is still very obscure to the panel why Gen. Adisa was begging his junior officer, however, he was question by the commission why.

Adisa was very much aware he wasn't pleading to Al Mustapha but rather through him to Jerry Useni, Bamayi and other senior officers who used Al Mustapha as a tool to threaten others due to being CSO. Al Mustapha can be heard saying Sir to Adisa, in the end Al Mustapha who was just obeying orders spent over 13 yrs in prison the others didn't

@@josephusua8917 If you’re referring to General Adisa, I doubt was being cowardly. He wasn’t shirking his responsibility to the people of Nigeria by abandoning his post to save his skin. His fate was in the hands of a single man who could decide whether he lives or dies in his quest to hold on to power he had taken unconstitutionally. Infact I dare say he’s the bravest of that bunch. Unlike Diya, he wasn’t trying to alter people’s perception of who he really was. A yellow belly.

@@MKush24 Good for you but still doesn’t change the fact that he was a Jackass . The fact that he fought in the civil war doesn’t qualify him to be a General . Just hearing the man speak showed his lack of intellect, poise and grace . Made me want to puke out one month’s worth of digested food. And before you repeat the fact that he fought in the civil war , my father and grandfather fought in the civil war too and they fought honorably and professionally. Matter of fact , my father still carries shrapnels and a bullet is still lodged in his upper ribs up until this day . Now the question is , does that makes him a shoo in candidate to be a general ? Hell No . The very definition of a general is he or she who leads or commands a war or peacekeeping mission and none of these asswipes did any of that . Fucking Hell , there have been more generals in the history of the Nigerian Armed Forces than the US military . What a fucking joke all of you. Like the saying goes , too many Chiefs not enough Indians . Bloody cowardly generals, all they ever did was plan coup d’etats and embezzle money from our Commonwealth. General Adisa was my father's friend and he was an honourable man in his dealings with people. He is not the kind of person to take unfair advantage nor allowed whatever position he held get to his head unlike many of his peers at the time. He could have reported what he knew but perhaps his greatest miscalculation was that he didn't think the coup planners would set it in motion and did not want to put them in an embarrasing position by reporting what Diya and co could easily deny. Throughout the testimony he did not contradict himself. Remember he said that he had no need to lie since Abacha had died and no longer in power but he had to come clean for posterity sake. He disagreed with Diya who said there was never a coup. On hindsight, it is apparent that Diya was lured into a carefully designed loyalty trap by Bamiyi. Being 2nd in command and with Abiola in custody Diya must have been dreaming of creating history in a post Abacha government with the support of the western diplomats seeing how isolated Nigeria was becoming from the rest of the world with Abacha's human rights record and his refusal to dance to the econonic tune of the west unlike IBB.

When you can't master basic English, you have no right being in government. Inability to Master the official language smacks of being unintelligent. Idi Amin readily comes to mind. Where does it stop? Net question would be what does being corrupt have to do with competence in government? The stranger issue is not the fact that Adisa was closer to the corridors of power. It's that folks like you think there's nothing wrong with him sounding unrefined. And remember, nobody is talking about the accent. We're talking basic English.

I'm a US Soldier so I'm running on the assumption that the Nigerian Army also have a concept of delegated authority like we do.. Major Mustapha was operation under the Delegated Authority of Abacha as his CSO, that makes him a very powerful man. You're right something is wrong in the sense that the Major was abusing his delegated authority and that's why it was very wise of the General to beg him.. People who see this as a cowardly act really don't understand the seriousness of the matter, it's not about his life, it's about the consequence that comes with the President's Chief Security Officer accusing you of being a coupist. You not only loss your life, you're also stripped of all military benefits, imagine the consequence of that on his family?? One of the reasons a soldier is willing to give his or her life is because you believe your nation will take care of those you left behind.. Dying for a cause that leaves yiur family destitute is not bravery but stupidity!

@@simonc1521 Your statement is BS. You can rebut my argument with facts rather than generalities (which have not even been stated in your caae). NDA is/was strictly regimented, and the training is th same as being in the military. You are aware cadets don the uniform everyday, right? You are aware cadets do same weapons training, obstacle course, point-to-point/night navigation that's done in the military, right? You are aware cadets are members of the military, right? It seems to me you have next to no idea what goes on in NDA. Tell me one thing I would not have known as a cadet that a commissioned officer has knowledge of. Some valid points actually but if we go by your logic a lot of people of power deserve death in Nigeria. At the end of the day your chance of survival depended on your ability to navigate the very dangerous political situation in Nigeria at that time. You even have to make friends with your enemies at times if necessary as the general portrays on this video. Kudos to him for bringing himself down and do the obvious and as he says "live to fight another day".
