Planning for improvement (continued)
Dr. Deming taught that to improve outcomes, it is essential to improve the processes that delivery those outcomes. Campus principals are expected to carefully plan for improvement. The Learning Model provides a district-wide guide to the key processes that govern school and district performance.
Students owning their learning
The goal is always to have an impact in the classroom. The culture now is one that is focused on learning and appreciating one another. Pride and ownership comes with choice and a focus upon improvement.
Reflecting and learning
The change process required a shift from leaders being 'all knowing directors' to skilled facilitators of reflection and learning.
Lead by example
A key role of a leader is to promote the philosophy and articulate the direction, over and over. People must be allowed to try and to fail, without fear. People feel secure enough to challenge leaders, in order to help them.
