The Mighty Atom was my "baby sitter" when I was a child. He was a side show performer at Zerns Farmers Market in Pennsylvania in the 70s. We would go there for the day out and I was so amazed by this guy and I would just sit and watch this guy in amazement. I bought his soap when he hawked it. A true legend and unbelievable memory of my childhood. My parents would leave me at his little area and go walk around for a few hours and I never left that area. I was infatuated with his feets of strength and he was probably 80 or 90 years old then. Look him up people and see why I as a kid found him interesting

Saw the mighty Atom back in the early 60s at Zern’s farmers market in Burks County Pa. He was a regular huckster there would draw a crowd with feats of strength. Seen him drive a 10 penny nail into 2buy then pull it out with his teeth. All the wile lecturing on the benefits of staying healthy and hawking his patent medicine’s Mostly laxatives. No doubt he was a great little showman. Everything else you might hear or see take with a grain of salt.

@@Poo260 Not much of a secret, just unpopular. If you do a little googling around you'll find some of his training and other old strongmen. With the invention of commercial gyms no one really cares anymore about the old strongman vaudeville training. it wasn't about big muscles or bench press. They developed a different kind of strength. His training was predominately Tendon, Bone, isometrics and grip. Training these will give you uncommon strength imo.

Something somewhat similar happened to Edgar Cayce who has been called the American, and Sleeping, Prophet. When he was a young child, he fell head first onto a board with a large nail sticking out of same The nail deeply pierced his forehead area. (though this happened in the 1800's, it wasn't know about until around 2000 when Sidney Kirkpatrick published is meticulously researched biography on Cayce called, "Edgar Cayce: An American Prophet". (Due to Kirkpatrick's high reputation, he was allowed more access into the Cayce families personal data than any previous biographer). Some people believe that this incident was partially responsible for Cayce's unusual psychic/intuitive abilities which were very well documented and tested. Even the likes of fraudulent medium busting Harry Houdini tested Edgar (and Houdini was very good at exposing the tricks of the fraudulent mediums of his time) and didn't speak negatively or critically about him. (In fact, it seems that he may have been indirectly influenced by Cayce, because before he died, Houdini was working on a movie script based around the concept of reincarnation, which is something that sleeping Cayce talked some about). Waking Cayce was pretty unusual psychic/intuitive wise, but sleeping/trance Cayce was on a whole other level. Anyways, some people believe that it may have something to do with the Pineal gland. Tibetan Buddhist monks were known to drill into the forehead to affect these perceptual abilities. But according to some, it may relate to increased circulation into the brain (at least while the hole is open).

Would love to see Joe talk about Gorgeous George, or the wrestler whom's last name was Savage. Back in the days when they wore the black trunks. Wrestling on B&W screen was different than the flamboyant stylization of today.

Dutch Savage? Portland Wrestling?
@b_uppy
@b_uppy Жыл бұрын
@@timarmstrong6257 Think so. As I recall the guy kind of looked like a bulkier version of Joe (imagine that!) though with a nose that looked like it had been pulped. Unsure if it was 'Portland' wrestling. It was televised out of Canada in my area.
