Welcome to the twisted mind of Matthew Mercer! He’s the greatest DM ever. Liam O’Brien (Vax) once said in an after show interview for their D&D campaign, that in the game you develop a loose set of points regarding your character background and hand it over to Matt and he’ll say “ Ok” and then months down the road he’ll take those small bits of background you gave him and use them like barbed wire wrapped around a baseball bat and wait around the corner for you walk by and wham! That’s basically how the Briarwood arc works. Took the notes Taliesin Jaffe, (Percy) gave him and built this amazing narrative! As always I love these reactions! Awesome observations!

Yeah, that Sun Tree moment really shocked a lot of people when Matt first described in the campaign. That's one of things that really stood out to me and is one of my favorite moments because it really shows how twisted the Briarwoods and their henchmen are. It's psychotic and works as a clear warning to what's to come. And that detail of hearing the rope in the credits. I've been a critter for some time and this show makes me so extremely happy. And it feels rewarding to see other people enjoy it just as much. Obviously there is a lot more craziness to come ;). This was just the tip of the iceberg really :).

You said that you wanted to know more about that (when Vex was talking to Vax about Syngorn and what nearly broke them), there’s actually a great book out now called Vox Machina Kith and Kin, by Marieke Nijkamp, that details Vex and Vax’s past before they met the rest of Vox Machina. It’s a great read and Matt Mercer (dungeon master of Critical Role) and Laura and Liam (Vex and Vax respectively) were consulted heavily on it’s creation to make sure it was accurate to their backstory! You should check it out!

I came here to say the same! The audio book is on Audible & the twins are voiced by the original cast, and narrated by new Critical Role cast member Robbie Daymond! I listen to a lot of audio books, and the voices on it were great!

@@FandomZone the audiobook version for this book is a gem. It's narrated by Robbie who is a new 3rd campaign player but Vex and Vax are voiced by their players. Gold standard audiobook definitely recommend that option.

Fun fact, the little girl that represented Keyleth on the Sun Tree was voiced by Sam's (Scanlan's actor) daughter! Same with the kids from episode 1, the kids were voiced by Sam's son and Liam's (Vax's actor) daughter (: Love your reactions, keep them coming!

One of my favorite little details that probably won’t be noted in the show is that the name for the model of gun Percy uses is called the Pepperbox, as has been stated, but Percy also has names for his specific guns. He named his personal Pepperbox “The List”… you can see why…

Great scene! During that episode in the campaign not all of them recognized the similarities, if I remember correctly it was Marisha (Kiki) who did it hearing the description of the people hanging. When Matt started describing the bigger one, the "rotund man completely bald with scratches and scraping on his skin" she looked at Travis (Grog) and put the pieces together, and then everything became clear when Matt described the last hanging one, which was a "recently hunted bear" (yeah, same fate for a Trinket lookalike unfortunately). Then Marisha was like NOPE WTF IT'S US.

Julia at end of Episode 4: "When you're driving down a long long narrow Road at night in misty fog and someone says pull over, what do you do? You dont pull over!" Vex'ahlia litteraly one Episode later: We are driving down a long narrow misty Road in and I have seen some scary movement, let's pull over!

Yep, it is the interpersonal relationships between the characters AND the friends themselves during the livestream that was the biggest draw to this show. The live stream shows so much of how much these people grew to be such close friends, and the D&D stream contributed a large part to that growth.

Yeah. I HIGHLY recommend Campaign 1. It’s it so emotionally diverse and all over the place. It’s so fun to watch. And gives so much context to this show.

The Briarwood Arc will take up the rest of the season. Season 2, which is already greenlit, will likely move into the next campaign arc, which I'm not going to spoil.

Definitely...not just the main campaign arcs, but the character backstory arcs that get woven into them...and then there are the events from the one-shots that occur after the main campaign ended...this show could easily last several seasons just with campaign 1 content...and then there are campaign 2 and 3, and the Exandria Unlimited mini campaign they could still develop...that's why I'm so happy that this show is grabbing the attention of so many people who are new to Critical Role, and that they are enjoying it. The bigger the audience this reaches, the more likely that the show will last a long while.

I’d really recommend Kith and Kin to learn about Vex and Vax’s life in Syngorne. It doesn’t have any spoilers to the show and it’s going to give you a lot more background (their dad really is a DICK) than at least what we got in campaign 1.

Your reaction to Vox Machina discovering their effigies was exactly the way that Marisha Rey and Laura Bailey reacted when Matt Mercer made the reveal. And something to note is that there are five people who wronged the DeRollos, there are six barrels on Percy's pepper box.

Especially since I read some of the less than contractive criticism reviews from critics about the gore, comedy etc. But you two seem to be having so much fun with this, as is a lot of us, the show is amazing for what it is!! I love ALL of it!! This might not be EXACTLY like the campaign, but it's so intriguing, emotional and encapsulates the show into a series so well!!

So after everyone said no to producing this, and the crowdfunding made season 1 possible. Amazon then decided they would fund a season 2. Lol. Kinda makes me laugh. But we woulda funded a second season anyway. They just needed to ask.
