At the ending scene, hanging from the tree were towns people figures that were meant to look like each of them and dressed like them. Keyeleth noticed and they said "It's us."

@@bboyairrick I’ve watched the entire show like 5 times. It’s shown at the end for a second or two. The beginning of the next episode zooms in and shows you it’s the people from the beginning that lady briarwood brought inside…. So yeah y’all should’ve let that hit them on it’s own instead of explaining it. I didn’t realize til episode 6 who it actually was

You actually CAN blame the voice actor for the vampire asshole. Matt Mercer was the Dungeon master for the web series the show is based on. In a sense, he WAS the vampire, and his wife, and the crazy wolves, and the dragon, and every nasty villain and plot twist.

As well as Shaun Gilmore, Lady Kima, Arcanist Allura Visoran, etc., etc. Mercer is every thing and one in Exandria outside of the player characters, good and bad, telling the story of a world in his imagination and he does it masterfully. I can't remember where I heard this, but there's a quote: "Telling a story is like weaving a tapestry, and for the most vibrant of designs, you will use some VERY dark threads."

Bro there are SO MANY VA's in here that you probably know but dont KNOW you know. For instance, Grog is Roy Mustang in Fullmetal alchemist, Vax is Gaara from Naruto, Vex is Kid Trunks in DBZ as well as Shin Chan, Kait Diaz in Gears of War, Lust in Fullmetal Alchemist, Abby in the last of us. They also have Merry from Lord Of The Rings, The Hound from game of thrones, just a STAR STUDDED cast.

@@jaymckay88 Pike’s voice actor was Ellie in “The Last of Us,” as well as a bunch of other stuff, Percy’s voice actor was Darion Morgaine in World of Warcraft and a bunch of voices in anime shows, Scanlan’s V.A. Not only has a ton of credits as an actor, he won an Emmy for being a voice director, Matt Mercer, the Dungeon Master who plays Silas Briarwood and a ton of other voices, was in Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil and was McCree in Overwatch. I don't know if yall caught it, but the family hanging in the tree at the end was dressed up to look like Vox Machina. One guy was painted blue like grog, one girl had antlers nailed to her head to look like Keyleth, the little girl had a wooden necklace carved to look like pike's holy symbol. It was a message from the briarwoods.

RIP Water Closet, Toilet, Loaf, John, Crapper, and Loo. There's just no good ending for horses in DND. They're too high maintenance and don't really mesh with campaigns that involve a lot of teleportation.

The moment when they found the Sun Tree for the first time in the stream was definitely one of those moments that it took everyone a second to catch on but when they did it was a resounding "What the actual fuck Matt?"

I just absolutely loved how Percy realized what it was immediately and walked away, while Keyleth was just staring at them in horror. Tal and Marisha's reactions really did it for me.

The family hanging on the tree were dressed to look like Vox Machina. They even nailed branches into the red haired woman's head to make it look like Keyleth's antlers. That's why they put that necklace on the little girl in the throne room scene: it was a replica of Pike's holy symbol pendant. The corpses hanging from the Sun Tree were meant as a visceral warning, both to Vox Machina to let them know that they're expected and to the townspeople to warn them away from helping out group. In the original campaign stream, the players' reactions were amazing, and pretty much all of them have said that it was at this moment that they realized that shit had gotten REAL. They were dealing with monsters that were so evil they were willing to kill and publically sting up a group of innocent people for no other reason than to send a message.

The voice actress, Grey Griffin, says that she her inspiration Delilah’s character on a bully from high school. When Grey asked her why she didn’t like her the bully said, “Oh no you’re wrong. I don’t care about you enough not to like you.”

@@thivagar97 I watched the 1st campaign on KZfaq. :) due to his fighting and the Damage he can and has inflicted earned the nickname of "No Mercy Percy." He is kind to his allies and Ruthless against his enemies.

That family was a message. They were all dressed up to look like Vox Machina. Keyleth girl had horns nailed to her head. Pike girl got the holy symbol. Grog guy was painted blue. It’s a message, “we know you’re coming, you’re next”. It’s also a message because it’s the Sun Tree. Not only is that tree the centre of town, it’s also, like, an actual holy relic. It’s a gift from their god, and the briarwoods defiled it and now strung corpses from it.

Imagine if Keanu Reeves was a dungeons and dragons dungeon master and a voice actor. Matt Mercer is the DM for vox machina and the voice actor for Sylass briarwood. He is a master at portraying the most wicked of villains in his games, but is all around a true gem of humanity. And your anger of his character has added to his ever growing life force, thank you.

The horses suffered a worse fate, originally: torn apart by harpies. Polymorph scroll! The dinner guests were fed, dressed like our heroes, and hung from the tree. It was a welcome.

So since they are very pressed for time in adapting hundreds of hours of gameplay into 12 episodes of the animated series, those "strangest creatures you've ever killed" were little references to some of the cut adventures we'd have otherwise missed out on here. Vax's was him facing down a Rakshasa, a tiger-man demon that they were contracted to kill in the mini-arc right before the Briarwood arc started in the game. Basically it's a demon that resembles a tiger man hybrid (with the hands reversed in game but due to copyright they couldn't do it here) that once you kill it will just regenerate in it's home dimension in the Nine Hells and swear eternal vengeance upon you. It's a recurring villain in the game for Vax. Keyleth's is a reference to an early battle the party had in the stream where they were fighting a group of duregar, basically Dark Dwarves (kind of like how Drow are the dark versions of elves) in an underground tunnel network, specifically next to a lava river. Keyleth knocked one into the lava, which was taking ages to kill him as he was slowly sinking in. So she used a wind gust to try and push him under but made it even worse by cooling the lava down enough for it to solidify around him. She was very traumatized by this. Grog's is an earlier battle from the same underground adventure, just moved above ground for the sequence here. He's fighting a bulette, an extremely dangerous creature that was assaulting a dwarven city. Trinket's armor is actually made out of the armored scales recovered from that creature.

A bard's primary stat is charisma. People who play bard characters usually play them as lotharios like Scanlan. What's fun is that a lot of what happens (such as when they have trouble unlocking a door) it was because someone in the game had unlucky dice rolls. The actress who played Keyleth gave her a character arc that made leveling up part of the story, but because she was played as bumbling early on, a lot of fans didn't like her. What makes these D&D sessions different is that the players and dungeon master are all actors, all of whom reprised their roles for this cartoon. You've heard a lot of these actors before in dubbed anime.

For context on the strangest kills they skipped over a couple arcs in the beginning where they went to the underdark keyleth was drowning a duergar(grey dwarf) in lava during that and the creature that grog fought was supposed to be a beholder. Then the thing that Vax killed was a rakshasha that they were contracted to kill when they went to vasselheim on Isildra the other continent in the world for a guild called the slayers take the group were contracted to kill 2 different creatures to stave off a prison sentence for illegally stealing a slayers take contract by accident they killed a white dragon also and a rakshasha was a fiend from the nine hells that had a tiger body and was nearly immune to magic it was also a shape-shifter and a great schemer
