Wilder puts his whole body into power punches, that's why he looks so wild when he misses with that right hand. But when he doesn't, it's almost always a K.O
@NyQuilDonut4 ай бұрын
Yeah, when I saw the first Ortiz fight Ortiz was doing a great job slipping his right hand and throwing a counterpunch, but Wilder commits to that punch so hard that Ortiz would miss his counter most of the time because Wilder's head would be at Ortiz's waist lol. Kinda accidentally keeps him from being countered.

@NyQuilDonut4 ай бұрын
@@kozzuii The only thing that matters when it comes to a fighter's legacy is who they beat. Ortiz was a good win, but outside of that he doesn't have any other good wins in that title reign. The sanctioning bodies can be absolutely inept at picking and enforcing mandatories so some guys can get away with racking up a bunch of wins against lesser competition. The WBC specifically will take low ranked fighters and increase their rank significantly when their champion chooses to fight them so the challenger meets their ranking requirement. There's a lot of context that needs to be taken into account when rating a fighter's legacy, and belts and title defenses look great on paper, but if you didn't really beat anyone then how much do those achievements really matter? I think Wilder beats Parker, and then AJ, and if that happens then yes he's an ATG in my book. One good win does not make someone an ATG IMO.

Wilder, even with his scrapping style of boxing really did well for himself. Yes the complaints and excuses after losing to Fury were quite embarrassing for someone who achieved so much, but he really gave Tyson a run for his money, especially in the first fight. Deontays flaws are kinda what makes him fun to watch. Earlier in his career I thought because of how light he is for a heavyweight with that height, that he will not be able to take punishment but he is having a very solid chin. Hate him or love him, he will always come out guns blazing.

Wilder, to me, came along at the perfect time and era for his style of fighting. I don't think his lack of defence would have played with the likes of the elite from the 80s and 90s, and if he was in a lesser weight class, that would negate some of his power, where his best bet would have been becoming another Julian Jackson. Still, all that matters is that he's a former champion who made ten successful defences. Dispute the competition and the politics all you want, but the numbers don't lie.

Just imagine if Wilder was more skilled as a boxer. Dude literally made it to the top from just power alone, he'd be unstoppable if he was skilled on the fundamentals. But I think that's what got him up there in the first place, he's truly Wild-er 🥁🥁
@Maelsstrom4 ай бұрын
It is a shame Wilder made up all those excuses after his 3 fights with Fury, before then I had huge respect for the guy and the truly devastating right hand of the Bronze Bomber.
@enesballa2364 ай бұрын
Honestly, I still think Deontay won that first match, 2 KOs, it doesn't matter how good Tyson was boxing in those rounds, but those 2 KOs, imo were more than enough proof that Deontay won that fight. Just like the bout Francis Ngannou, I think it was given unfairly due to Tyson's fame.
@NateO1234 ай бұрын
@@enesballa236 if the man can get up after the knockdown it’s not a KO. Cry about the count all you want but fact is he went on to beat the bricks off of wilder after he stood up in that round so pretending that wilder won is crazy. Truth is the draw was a gift to Deontay and tyson proved it twice after that.
@enesballa2364 ай бұрын
@@NateO123 Nah, I disagree. While it is impressive that Fury got up after those 2 knockdowns (not KOs, you were right there), I still think Wilder did deserve it. The first match tho, the 2 other ones, Fury definetly deserved those wins. The reasom why I'm so bias rn is because Fury didn't win against Ngannou, despite the Knockdown and Ngannou mostly dominating (I'll say 65/35), because the Saudi sheikhs had decided that Fury would win it.

Meh... Deontay is nobody next to Charlie Z(elenoff): 1 billion KOs, 0 defeat (run from the ring isn't a loss but instead a strategic change to a mortal street fight), able to sucker punch Floyd Mayweather senior and homeless people without effort (or advise) and able to be the secret lover of no other than Kim Kardashian herself.

Its weird, but not really, that no other heavyweight would go near Ortiz. I think Ortiz would have boxed AJs head clean off. Probably would have beaten Fury as well when he first got back before hed shaken the rust. Usyk would pick him apart with ease, but the 3 big names...AJ, Fury, and Wilder...only Wilder dared face him and he did it twice despite it being the hardest fight of his career both times at those points in time. Wilder struggled more against Ortiz in that first fight, than he did against Fury in their 1st. Because while Fury outboxed him, Ortiz was putting in real damage and was proving he had what it took to knock Wilder out at any point. There were too many illegal shots in the 2nd Fury fight for that to even be considered a fight, Wilder was annhilated. But those illegal shots that werent penalized or even commented on were pretty brutal. Brain stem shots that had him all sorts of fucked up, dude could hardly stand still with his senses all scrambled and I believe it was absolitely intentional by Fury because he knew that if Wilder stayed clear headed he was simply too dangerous to fight for 12 rounds at that point. Their 3rd fight was awesome.

I, for one, wish to see Wilder vs Joshua more than any other match. Joshua doesn't have the chin, but he's a proper Olympic level trained boxer, while Wilder has the power, but he's a wild man. It will be fascinating, either Wilder's chop managed to get Joshua and put him to sleep, or Joshua managed to maintain control for 12 rounds.
