In this episode of Teen Technorati, the 40 finalists are split up into teams and tasked with building a bridge made out of LEGO. Only one team emerges as the winner, but during the challenge the finalists’ leadership and problem-solving skills begin to surface. Plus, fellowship hopefuls Ishaan Gulrajani, Lucy Guo, Darby Schumacher, and Catherine Ray explain the concepts behind their individual Thiel projects.

It is not LEGOs, its LEGO-bricks.

I never understood this particular type of pedantry. What do we lose by calling them LEGOs? Do you also insist on saying "Honda automobiles" rather than "Hondas" or "Nike tennis shoes" instead of "Nikes"? We pluralize brand names all the time, but for some reason "LEGOs" is heretical. I don't get it.

Pseudo Nym LEGO has them self stated that it is LEGO-bricks you build with, other than that I don't see a point to it.

Pseudo Nym We don't lose much, but the owner of the LEGO trademark stands to lose its exclusive right to the mark (and waste the millions of Krone, Euros, Dollars, etc. of value associated with it) if the term becomes generic. Using the mark properly, like HexagonNiceguy did, helps ensure that doesn't happen.

Robert Hornung But the term isn't being applied to a generic product here, they are actually using LEGO bricks. Nonetheless, I didn't know that their trademark was being heavily contested, so thanks for that bit of info.
