Justin quickly describes the 4 levels of sword fighting while sword fighting / sparring with Matt.
Level: One is Attack, Two is Parry and Riposte, Three is Complex Attack, Four is Counter Attack.
This is an important concept in sword fighting that keeps things simple. This can be applied to just about all weapons in martial arts. Remember to always be safe when involved in sword play as broadsword, straight sword, saber, dao, or any other traditional weapon or modern weapon can cause bodily harm.

Did you have a sinus issue on one side with neck pain ? I do so am not sure.

What is the straight sword you are using?

+Drooftwood It's a Chinese 剑 (jian4). You pronounce it like jee-an, one syllable, falling tone. Looks like maybe a Han dynasty one, because it's so long and has a long hilt. If he were using a steel one, it would be used in two hands. They don't have a pommel, so the weight of a Han jian is balanced heavily towards the tip. Using a steel one in one hand is very slow and ineffective in my experience, however the plastic ones are waaaaay lighter than a real weapon, so he gets away with it here.

+MMSA Dalian yeah I figured it was a jian, looked kinda wide to me so I was wondering. I'm more interested in where he got it; I've been looking for a sparring han jian for ages

+Drooftwood There is a Taiwanese brand called 龙裕 (Long Yu) that has similar looking stuff. You can buy them on TaoBao World (Chinese EBay). Not sure if they have a Han jian.
