Jiraiya was one of Konohagakure's Sannin. Famed as a hermit and pervert of stupendous ninja skill, Jiraiya travelled the world in search of knowledge that would help his friends, the various novels he wrote, and, posthumously, the world in its entirety - knowledge that would be passed on to his godson and final student, Naruto Uzumaki.

It's because he was a comedic relief but also very wise and even though he wasn't there for Naruto in the start, he was there for him alot. For alot of people including the 3 orphans who ended his life. Plus he never would release another sequel to his book series.

His pervy happy-go-lucky personality belied his wisdom and brave determination. Will never forget his sacrifice and the grief poor Naruto went through as well as Tsunade's shell shocked look. But in a way I'm sure it inspired them and others to conquer their demons.

Man! I just love Jiraiya more than anything. It makes me so sad, that he died. For the sake of legacy, I have accepted it. The shock and pain both Naruto and Tsunade felt was tragic itself. You love this person so much and they die in a battle. I was legit depressed when I found out he died. Hope they bring him back soon as KK in Boruto.

I just realized that sasuke gets the "traveling performers using ninjutsu" excuse from that last naruto arc before the wedding when he meets the traveling performers.
