Her life may revolve around Eren and his protection but pound for pound she's one of the biggest badasses of the series and goes all out for her friends. Her aloof personality reflects the horrors she's seen and endured. She's a true legacy character if ever there was one.

We all know Mikasa is ONE of the only simps we'll ever respect, just because she can whip out her blades and cut us like a beyblade.

Eren is literally the embodiment of "you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Edit: Due to some **shenanigans** in the manga, he lived a villain and died a hero, so yeah, my whole point is in the trash. Thank you @Asta Roth and, no that wasn't sarcasm

Here are some facts confirmed in the manga and by Isayama, the animator directors, and the voice actors of Eren and Mikasa: 1. Isayama and Tomohiro Machiyama (the Live Action movie of AOT director) said that the person that would make Eren unhappy if they die is Mikasa. 2. Both voice actors of Eren (Kaji Yuki) and Mikasa (Ishikawa Yui) are confirmed Eremika shippers. In fact, Yuki Kaji (Eren's VA) just tweeted to support Eremika recently. 3. Isayama said that even though Eren initially (keyword: initially) thought Mikasa's love as motherly love but Eren would change his attitude towards Mikasa once both Mikasa and Eren become independent towards each other (which they did during the later half of the manga series). Isayama also stated that Eren might eventually fall for Mikasa's quiet charm. 4. Isayama confirmed that he tends to draw Mikasa more beautiful when it's from Eren's POV. It's shown during chapter 50 and the last episode of season 2. The reason why the viewers see Mikasa looking much prettier in some selected scenes because that's how Eren is seeing her through his eyes. 5. Isayama confirmed that he wouldn't want to totally separate Eren and Mikasa from each other despite how the manga might end. 6. Isayama confirmed that the entire universe of AOT is focused around Eren, Mikasa and Armin. It starts with Eren/Mikasa and ends with Eren/Mikasa. 7. And to those who don't know, Mikasa is not "my home" (Mi casa), she is named after a Japanese War Ship. Mikasa is a reflection of Isayama's cultural pride for Japan. 8.The animation directors confirmed that the relationship between Eren and Mikasa is different from sibling relationship. They, in fact, said that the only character that can be regarded as a sibling to Eren is Armin. 9. In manga, Eren has been shown to reiterate a fact that he DOESN'T want Mikasa to consider him as a son, brother and someone she HAS TO protect. 10. In chapter 15 or 16, the moment when Eren was able to master the 3D maneuver equipment, Eren immediately looked at Mikasa's and thought himself "See Mikasa, I am strong now so you won't need to protect me anymore". 11. The reason why Mikasa is so protective of Eren is partially because of Eren's mother. Carla has told Mikasa to always be at his side, protect him and watch out for his mistakes. 12. Eren's father, Dr. Yeager, once told Mikasa that the only way to restrain Eren's hidden power and restless nature is to have him live in a forest (foreshadowing Mikasa's vision in chapter 138) and he hoped that living with Mikasa in the forest could finally give Eren peace. 13. Zeke Yeager reassured Eren that Mikasa is indeed in love with Eren. 14. Zeke Yeager realized that Eren's most impactful memory is when kid Eren wrapping the scarf around kid Mikasa. The memory was too impactful to Eren that Eren completely ignored Zeke and just deadly stared at the kid Mikasa. 15. Mikasa is not a simp in the manga. She is shown to beat, drag, throw woods to Eren, and willing to stand up to Eren if she thinks Eren is morally wrong. In fact, Mikasa is shown to protect Armin more than her protecting Eren. 16. The fact is that Mikasa is emotionally independent towards Eren. SPOILERS ALERT: Mikasa is willing to fight, kill Eren and reject his ideology if they are not aligned with her moral sense. And Eren knows all of these and has been plotting to ENABLE Mikasa to kill him. Hence, this explains his subconscious rough attitude towards Mikasa during the beginning of the story. 17. Neither Mikasa nor Eren subconsciously considers each other as siblings (though Mikasa is consciously or deluding herself into thinking of Eren as her family). Mikasa lived with Eren's family for only a year and her last name is still Ackerman. If you notice, in the entire series, the ONLY person that considers Eren as family is Mikasa. Not Eren himself, nor Eren's parents, nor Armin nor the rest of the 104 squad. No one except Mikasa ever considers Eren and Mikasa as siblings in the entire AOT universe. 18. The voice actress of Armin tweeted in her social that the red scarf that Eren gave Mikasa is indeed an engagement ring. 19. Eren and Mikasa are confirmed to be lovers in the live action movie - and the detail was approved by Isayama. 20. The reason why Jean and Eren being portrayed as rivals is because of Mikasa. 21. Historia is aware of Mikasa and Eren's unique bond and has shown her support. 22. Historia's most impactful person in her life is Ymir (the one that is devoured by Poco). 23. Regardless of whoever fathered Historia's baby, Historia's pregnancy is never meant to be romanticized unlike Eren and Mikasa's moments. 24. Eren was the one that INITIATED the bond between him and Mikasa. In addition to murdering for her, he expressed his desire to have her live with him. 25. Eren cares about Mikasa (and Armin) too much that his predecessor/successor are tasked with protecting Mikasa (and Armin) when receiving the memories. 26. Eren's first Titan transformation was directed in a way to show that Eren himself saved Mikasa. 27. Gabi's character designed to mimic Eren, and Falco's birthday is Mikasa's birthday. 28. Eren's dream in the beginning of Chapter 1 is connected to Mikasa's dream in Chapter 138. Both shared a vision of living peacefully in a forest which is foreshadowed by Eren's father. 29. Eren is shown to be a very tempered and cocky individual as a kid but he TOLERTATED Mikasa's violent (lol) actions towards him, and ironically spent most of his childhood with a girl (Mikasa). 30. His first word in the manga is "Mikasa" and when asked by Lara Tybur if he had any last words, he said "Right now, Mikasa". 31. The voice actor of Eren (Yuki Kaji) loves Mikasa so much that he said he would like to spend the rest of his life with Mikasa. 32. Mikasa is the golden child of Isayama. She is said to be the key and the heart of AOT. 33. The popularity of AOT in Japan was initially driven by Mikasa - hence why Isayama loves Mikasa the most. 34. In Japan, it's theorized that Mikasa is actually the protagonist of AOT, instead of Eren since Eren's memories and mission are correlated with Mikasa.

Most of those calling Mikasa a simp is because you only watch the anime. I'll be honest, the anime makes a very poor portrayal of Mikasa's character. Mikasa is nowhere near a simp, and if you are following through to the latest chapter, it seems like the opposite. In the manga, Eren is very gentle towards Mikasa and he always makes his intention clear to Mikasa that he is not her son, brother or someone she needs to protect. The anime exaggerated Mikasa's protection towards Eren - which is actually shaped by Eren's protection towards her first. Before she ever did anything for Eren when they were little kids, Eren had already protected her against all kinds of dangers. He was the one that expressed his feelings and his role as a man, but Mikasa always tries to delude herself to think that Eren is her family only. It's not Eren who is oblivious to Mikasa's feelings, it's Mikasa and us who misconstrues Eren's feelings towards Mikasa in the first place.

She had the saddest life of any character in the anime history.. No body can imagine the pain to kill your own childhood lover your saviour...I just can't imagine how she made her heart agree to kill eren

(spoliers) i got so sad when mikasa just stood by erens grave and never forgot about him, while being with jean and even had a baby together with him, mikasa will still love eren with all of her heart and soul. mikasa's a true and loyal one, i envy her and thats why i love her so much

Spoiler Warning! As tragic as this beautiful story is, I feel at peace knowing that Eren lived a meaningful life and is at peace. Ofcourse we'd love a happy ending where Eren and Mikasa can be together forever, but that doesn't mean their love wasn't special. Ofcourse he desired to be with Mikasa and his friends but he truly believed in his own sacrifice for them. "The world is cruel, but I still love you". This perfectly encapsulates that the world broke them through the sacrifices they made but their love endured. Eren sacrificed his final years of happiness with Mikasa to become a monster to stay and defend Paradis so his friends could live peaceful lives. Mikasa sacrificed her love to save what remained of the world but also to give eren the peace death brought from the monster he had become. Despite the cruelty of these sacrifices they loved eachother and what matters is their freedom, resilience & choice to rise above that pain of sacrifice and see the beauty in the world, their love. It eases the heartache knowing despite the dark path Eren went down, he still lived a meaningful and fulfilling life where he loved and was loved both in the paths with Mikasa and the world. The world is cruel, but it's also beautiful because of the love Eren and Mikasa had for eachother and their sacrifice. They were eachothers constant companion and peace. Eren was tired in his final moments but Mikasa brought him peace, both in life and in death. it was ultimately his choice to sacrifice himself for his friends and Paradis. I feel at peace knowing that Eren lived a meaningful and fulfilling life. In savings his loved ones he is finally free and at peace.

Imagine Eren before, a kind and heartwarming person in the anime, but when isayama turned the tables, we were all suprised that isayama didnt really back off with his words and really hurt us with this line, Eren: *"Mikasa, I've always hated you."*

When Mikasa haters can't come up with something to hate, so they just call her a "simp" because differentiating love and obssession is too much for their brain to handle. Yes, Mikasa loves Eren, she loves everyone close to her but Eren has a special place in her heart, she is not a simp, she didn't push herself to Eren, she didn't force Eren to love her, she just protects Eren and love him unconditionally, whether if Eren love her back or not. And she respects Eren's feelings towards her, that's the difference of loving someone from obssessing and forcing yourself to someone.

Well in season 4 of attack on Titan eren had his own reasons to do what he was doing....imagine yourself in the position where eren was, in the final season and what he said to Mikasa in season 4 I'm sure he said that because he remembered that he had only one year left to live so instead of choosing to stick with Mikasa he rather chose to do what he always dreamt of, to exterminate every Titan so I think that in season 4 eren's behaviour towards Mikasa was more in a protective way and I think what eren did was not to hurt Mikasa but to protect her remember when he told Mikasa he have only one year left to live Mikasa became sad and I think that pretty much explains eren's actions towards Mikasa in season 4. What he did was in a way to protect her feelings Mikasa truly cares for eren and earlier mentioned If I was in eren's place I would choose the same behaviour.

Eren promised her to wrap the scarf to her forever. He knew that He can't do it anymore so he keeps hurting her and wants to throw away the scarf. So She wasn't completely a simp. I think he always knew her feelings too. He just made up the the Ackerman's instinct to convince himself that her feelings weren't true. So it will be easier for him to focus in his plans In chapter where Zeke and Eren in the paths and travel together because Zeke is still insisting that Eren were brainwashed by their dad. When they got to the scene where Eren is giving the scarf to Mikasa, That scene was too precious to him that he was lost for a moment and didn’t listened to what Zeke said. He completely knew his feelings towards her but sadly they can't be together because he will die soon. He is preparing her for his dimise. He knew that the moment she kills him, she's finally letting him go. Perfect plan Eren. But I think that he really plans to destroy the world outside Paradis too. Hahaha He didn't die in vain. If he choose Mikasa's dream then Mikasa will nowhere to go after his death. There's no Eren, no Paradis, no family, and no friends. They will all die. Leaving her all alone. He is fighting for freedom but not for himself. 😥 Plus if they were really precious to him then Jean, Connie, and Sasha wont die and become a mindless titans. They were a sacrifice too.
