Long story short...basically TD is explaining scientifically what is happening to your body when you shovel snow. Growing up in WV we had a lot of snow and every other winter somebody would die shoveling snow typically from exhaustion and dehydration. I found it to be a good workout but I was also a teenager.

Little chemistry lesson: 12,13 doesn't mean two variants; the numbers identify the positions of the two (di) HOME groups on the carbon chain of a single molecule. And we'd generally say "twelve thirteen" instead of "one two and one three".

I'm from Austria, where we have cold winters and snow. When you said we should try to work out in a cold environment of about 55-60F while showing people running in winter with snow all around them, I thought "jeez, what's that in Celsius, is it like -10C?". But actually, no. 55F is about +13C, which, if you're from Austria, is not really considered cold and it's certainly far too warm for snow. But anyway, I was relieved when I googled how much 55F was in Celsius because it means I don't have to go out running in deep winter lol.

I'm in North-Eastern US and 50-60F would be unusually warm for us in the winter and pretty fair most of the rest of the year. (80-90F right now in the summer, I could go for a few 60F days!) I'm guessing Tom is somewhere in the Southern US like Florida, Texas, or South California in order to consider that "cold".

That's not how I feel at all. I feel like when I'm working out when it's 100° outside it's way better and I feel it more than when it's cold. Note, I will say that I do have hyperkalemia which means that my potassium is extremely hot high and I don't get tired out in the heat as much as most people. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Just wanted to note that. My normal potassium level for me is about 6.5 to 7. It's been like that since I was about 12 and I'm 40 now.

I would imagine that one of those exercises would be swimming. I mean you are already in a cool environment plus the water will dissipate heat much quicker so in 1 to 1 temp environment you are actually colder in water. Not to mention the stretching you do and low impact on joints. Throw in steady systemic breathing. Win win in my book

2 things he states based upon new research and this stuff was published before 2020. Second, he states you will burn a higher percentage of fat, but that does not mean it burns more overall fat than using a higher VO2 max and burn more calories. I read the study it doesn't compare the 2. But burning a higher percentage of fat for energy at a specific heart rate or VO2 max has been talked about for well over a decade.

"...to Lose Belly Fat..." -- So is this the tagline just because all brown adipose tissue is located in the torso? Because the video itself appears to focus on increasing the mobilization and use of fatty acids ad hoc... but then talks about the brown adipose tissue located around organs "burning more fat". I'm just trying to figure out if this video is more about increasing long-term metabolic rate and less about "targeting belly fat" (which I think most of us do not believe is possible, and would, of course, be white adipose tissue anyway...)
@monnoo8221
@monnoo8221 3 күн бұрын
you did not get it. we have brown fat on the back between shoulder blades, but not in the belly. belly fat, largely visceral fat = whte fat around the organse needs to get mobilized. this happens when muscles and brown fat are going to import it as fatty acid. S, you have to creae a demand first. And better to create a double demand, because then the efficiency of the uptake is better on either side. via 12-13-dHome
