My only 2 complaints are the color grading and Sebastian's design. Other than that, I'm psyched, and Halle is bringing it!

Color grading definitely was a worry for me. Super muted colors in some scenes, super saturated in others. I just hope they light Halle properly, looks good!

Definitely pleasantly surprised after the studio delayed the trailer. The voice is spot on, now as long as they get Ursula right they'll be golden.

I was kinda all for Melissa McCarthy as Ursula and still am, but I was hoping for a scarier design. Sharper eyebrows and pointy teeth. This is basically just Melissa as herself vamping it up. I hope my mind gets changed though because I'm still thoroughly excited!

when i was younger, the little mermaid was my all time FAVORITE movie. seeing this trailer for the live action movie made me cry because it made me feel a type of nostalgia that i only felt when i watched the animated movie. i absolutely cannot wait for this movie to come out!

It also occurred to me that compared to other live action remakes, Little Mermaid might have more CGI. Like, the underwater scenes are 100% CGI besides the actors, and even then they have CGI added to them. Like Beauty and the Beast obviously had CGI, but I’m sure underwater scenes are just overall harder to pull off.

The final high note gives me full body goosebumps. Halle really was the perfect vocal choice for Ariel. So happy they went on voice as opposed to actress (cough Belle cough).

It just looks SO MAGICAL. It’s honestly stunning to look at and it has that real epic/fantasy feel the story deserves. Halle Bailey looks ethereal, and her voice is so perfect for THIS Ariel. Nice to see more Ursula but I’m glad they’re saving “Poor Unfortunate Souls” for the release.

A problem I have with these remakes is the language that surrounds them where it seems to be putting down the original animated feature. The 2D animated originals are incredible and I hate the idea that just because it is live action that makes it “more adult” or “higher quality.” These remakes are great as adaptations of these stories but this same quality of work can be/ has been done in the animated medium. I just wish Disney would go back to 2D features every now and then. That being said I am excited for this adaptation!

I'm actually more interested in this movie now that I've seen the poster and trailer. I really like almost all the voices so that pleases me. Her singing is spot on and I also was a fan of Ursula and the glowing tentacles. Unsure of some of the animals, but we'll see how that goes when we see more.

Grace, one thing that worries me is a line change. In the animation, when Scuttle is standing on her legs he says "I cant put my foot on it" which is funny, but here she just says "I can't figure it out" which has no joke in it at all. That's a faux pas right there, to throw away a good joke in favour of something that lands like wet sand.

But Grace, this is big: They changed Ariel's sisters name(s), which means they must've changed Daughters of Triton, and I do not like the idea of them feeling so comfortable with editing Howard Ashman.

Thanks for the reaction. The trailer was nice but not mind-blowing. They still skrewed over the actress not having the iconic red hair which would have made her pop more on screen. Color was a critical part of the original Little Mermaid.

growing up, Ariel was my favorite princess, I was obsessed with mermaid mythology because of her and I am just so hyped for this movie. Halle got the voice, got the Ariel's innocence in her face and gestures... I can't wait. I just can't wait.

The CGI is still being worked on. Rob Marshall says it should be completed by the end of March. This film looks amazing.

That’s true, but normally when a shot or scene makes it to the trailer that means they felt that particular shot or scene was finished

@@andrewdunn7569 No, lots of trailers have had CGI that looks far better when the film is released. These films are tweaked up until the release. Its out in May, so the majority of effects will be done, but others will be still worked on until perfected.

My favorite is Ursula she looks amazing 😍 i think the colors could have been more vibrant but i think too many people are getting hung up on the fact its obviously more realistic than the cartoon version because, it was a cartoon! Of course sebastian and flounder Arent going to look like the original CARTOON! The haters need to see this in its own right rather than keep comparing. And regardless of Ariel's skin color, what a voice! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I’ve never been a fan of the way you down play animation by saying the live action movies ‘Plus’ the originals and are more sophisticated. Even with the most successful, the charm and artistry has never matched what was done in animation. They never leave the same impact as the original and feel very disposable and just simply a tool for a short term win, more so a product than a piece of art.

It looks so great! Halle looks and sounds amazing. Melissa looks great too like what she’s doing with her voice. Sebastian is actually a cute crab lol. Go look at some crabs they made him as cute as possible while still looking realistic. And Awkwafina sounds perfect for a female scuttle. And Triton is looking like Daddy AF.

I was already in love with Halle playing Ariel, I was honestly hung up on Mellisas Ursula but from what they’ve just showed me I was delightfully surprised! I think the hardest parts to get behind will be the accurate depiction of the animals. I just can’t take a real crab singing and dancing but nonetheless I cannot wait to see this in theaters!

This looks amazing! I’m with you there on the vfx, it’s overall stunning but they could have pushed the envelope a bit more. Ursula looks amazing and so does her lair! I know we all know the story but I kinda wish they didn’t show as much in the trailer and still kept a few things for the big screen release. That shot with the dolphins was breathtaking!

I loved the scene where Ariel has her foot on Ursula’s neck, Ursula stutters "Martha", then Ariel flies into a rage asking "why did you say that name?", then lets Ursula go. I never saw that plot twist coming! 10/10 for subverting expectations.

There parts that I liked. But I kinda wish Ariel's hair was more red. I feel like her orange hair feels washed out in the water, it blends a lot with her skin. I think the movie needs more color, it also feels washed out. The singing was good though.

VFX are undercooked, but the biggest problem is in the particular scenery - the filters didn't convey the feeling of the characters being underwater.

There are definitely moments where the VFX is a bit off, BUT I am excited. It looks true to the original, Halle looks amazing and sounds amazing, and the little changes made here are there are pretty awesome (Ursula’s tentacles are SO COOL!) GOOSEBUMPS HEARING HALLE SING!

I literary got goosebumps all over and cried!! I haven’t been this excited for a Disney live action remake since Beauty and the Beast and I have a feeling this one is going to be even better! Rob Marshall is one of my all time favorite directors working in Hollywood- Annie (1999), Chicago, Pirates 4, Into The Woods, Mary Poppins Returns and NOW The Little Mermaid 🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰😭😭😭

That’s actually why I’m worried. Into the Woods and Mary Poppins Returns were absolutely terrible to me and I couldn’t actually finish them. Like they stunned me with how bad they were. And I don’t remember enough about Pirates 4. But judging from this trailer this could be his best film hopefully.

I think Halle Bailey is gonna be great in this! I do like that the underwater scenes are more realistic but the colors do appear a little drab. If you look at a tropical ocean, or a tank at a top notch aquarium, though, it's pretty bright! They could've made the movie be a little brighter. Other than that, can't wait.
