great video but there's one problem. Garfield isn't God. Garfield canonically outsmarted god and that's why he (and also Odie) is able to live infinite lives. Everything else is pretty much correct though. I'm the dude created the Garfield lore iceberg that blew up on the internet years ago so I've known about Garfield lore for a long time. One more thing you should've included is the ending of the nine lives remake comic where he triggers a time loop that resets him endlessly. No one really remembers the comic reboot but it's easily one of the most important things lore-wise.

Garfield really reminds me a lot of Nurgle from Warhammer 40k. The theme of total despair, where you are cursed to live forever in an endless cycle of death and rebirth where you are constantly suffering, the sloth, the bloated forms, the eternal drearyness, living out the same thing in different ways time after time after time - and ultimately attempting to cope through acceptance, being completely and totally okay with the situation no matter how horrible. It's something I find really interesting, cause I think Garfield actually embodies these concept better than Nurgle does, completely by accident. People even have a bizarre tendency to portray Garfield as a god. He is so culturally saturated in the west, that it could be he is a god, transcending what we would traditionally think of as fiction and becoming something more.

My take on the Garfield Lore, the only way I see it making sense: Garfield is a cosmic deity Elder God outside of our comprehension, he's roamed our multiverse since before it was even invented Garfield can do anything, rewrite anything, and see everything - all the while having access to all universes at all times However, his one and only character flaw is the sense that throughout everything, the one thing he desires is the one thing he'll have to actually work to obtain - fame and the prospect of the entire world knowing and adoring him. The one thing he can't rewrite is the emotions of us mere humans, so after the revelation of what he truly wants to accomplish, he knows what he has to do. So after eons of existing, he'd find his way to Earth, and force the canonical Garfield Comic studio (from gets real and the garfield show) to form together in order to create comics based on Garfield and spread them mainstream, to which he writes and directs all of them for maximum creator bias, and as a result of this, his plan of being seen, worshipped and praised eternally...Somehow worked. This is canon to the real life in which we currently breath in, Garfield being a multimedia God rivalled in popularity by only a very miniscule amount. His plan succeeded, Garfield is everywhere, you will see him everywhere you look. Garfield is impossible. Garfield is beyond our comprehension. Garfield is infinity and divinity. Garfield successfully enacted all his goals and needs, so at this point, all he does is evolve as a person. After like 30 years of nothing but comic strips upon comic strips, he gets bored, he gets jaded. He longs for escapism, so with casual ease, he breaks out of the reality he's willingly resided in for several years, and into the Garfield Gets Real universe. Playing God, he spends an entire movie's length in the Gets Real verse, before willingly returning to the verse he chose all those years ago. (However, at random points in the lore, Garfield would find himself craving to go back to the Gets Real universe, which is where the live action movies fit in, where Garfield comes back to the verse, plays God, and pulls the strings to intricately and manually orchestrate a real life depiction of the comforting life with Jon he'd been writing about in his comic strips for many years, forging his own reality, and publishing it to the world for us to be intimidated with the sheer power he can create.) Around this time, Garfield would create The Garfield Show in the same universe that created the comic strips and the cartoons for so long, where now in The Garfield Show he casually displays his cosmic powers for everyone to view on a frequent basis. At this point, Garfield doesn't just want to be known, no, now he wants to be feared, he wants to be taken seriously, he wants to showcase to the world what he truly is and what he can do, Garfield wants to be God. And, once more, it works. Byproducts such as Gorefield and Lasagna Cat emerge from this in our world, Garfield continues to become bigger and bigger as establishments like Garfield Eats happens and his merch continues to skyrocket in sales, Garfield wants to whole universe to know his omnipotence and power, as he's seen on numerous occasions outsmarting God and playing those around him like puppets in his own little game. And who knows, maybe this never started and ended with our world. Maybe he's taken control of the entire galaxy, no, multiverse, and we just don't know it.

Why does Garfield not just talk to god again and tell him he wants to die already?

Lord Garfield of the Void, a sophisticated and completed subject to discuss. Chapter 1 (personal experience): It seems that the lord have managed through his will (or his apathy or against it) to get everywhere sometimes without even knowing the context, such is the scope of his oblivion. I personally knew the lord though a series (but I goddamn can't remember which of this shows it was. Hahah) and that weird Garfield game (did I find it on friv I don't remember, who even remembers friv) that I never completed and will hunt me for the rest of existence. Chapter 2 (I am bad at names): Yet at some 2 things happened. I have discovered the pit of despair that is the subreddit that is known as r/Iamsorryjhon (I think) and the second thing is getting into an ironic WhatsApp group that ironically worship the lord as a god (and everyone that leave technically is sent into the void to until his mind dies slowly from oblivion, ah and mondey is the day of wrath). Chapter 3 (this does not deserve to be its own chapter but I had to put this here): this has driven me in my casual life to see certain videos on the subject that seem to either understand the lord as an evil god or an very confusing self aware character. Yet it seems that there is one main attribute that seem to always hunt the lord, Oblivion. Chapter 4 (what is written here is the name of the chapter): It seems that people (meaning nerds) are starting to become self aware of the Garfield phenomenon. This has probably contributed to the raise of Garfield as this evil being that represents an oblivion of despair (or even worse the worst state of existence oblivion of suffering). This lead him to be seen as a nightmarish abomination many times, yet some interpretations seem to put half ironic lines that signal the oblivion of our existence. My favourite one being: "Time is a wheel, Jon there is no end no beginning. Only hunger. ONLY MONDEY"~ Lord Garfiled. Chapter 5( the lord is ahead of his time, being through the truth of the infinite void. The lord is everywhere even God cannot control him. The lord is the absolute, a conscious void (either by gain of true immortality and conscious or without va choice) he is all powerful everything and nothing yet all his power mean nothing because he can't be greater then the void which is also nothing even he doesn't matter, he can see the oblivion everywhere. It is his true nature, he has taken a form of a cat (a sacred being far superior to the hairless monke, yet he is not a cat himself). None can be sure what his intention is, none will never know. None of what he does carry any meaning. Yet if I had to gauss as the ultimate form of conscious he must have the qualities of emphaty, reflection, dignity and curiosity. This is why his intention is most likely not malicious. His massage may be interpreted in such a way because of the negative input of our own flawed mind corrupted by the ego (individual or collective). The lord may seak to open our eyes to escape the oblivion of despair that can lead to delusionalisem and suffering and achieve instead an oblivion of freedom and stronger mind (his reasoning probably comes from satisfaction of his emphaty as all of as are selfish, just some are smart selfish and some are stupid)): oh, this is indeed a great name, yah this is a copypasta, I refuse to elaborate farther whether this ironic or not, the lord is against worship anyway so its all a contradiction. Everyday is Monday are you angry about that?

Well in Garfield and Friends he’s staring as the star (himself) of his own show, so he’s an actor in that as well. It’s not implied that he writes the show just that he is on set all the time that we see him and he comments to the producers and even the characters in US ACRES do that as well. and he knows we are watching. I really loved that aspect of GAF. I think the Garfield show tries to mimic that but as established it’s off the rails weird lol. In the daily comics he sometimes but rarely acknowledges that he’s in a comic. Overall he’s very self aware lol
