Mount Roraima is one the most mysterious and alluring mountains in the world. An enormous flat-topped mesa, its sheer cliffs rise from one of the most remote areas of the Amazon rain forest. It is entirely appropriate that Conan Doyle used Roraima as the inspiration for the novel Lost World, a tale of modern dinosaurs.
The mountain is a vast heart-shaped plateau, with the area of the rolling summit area about 50 sq.km or 20 sq. miles. It lies in three countries, but Venezuela controls over 80% of the summit, with Brazil and Guyana owning much smaller slivers. The highest point on the massif, a rock called the "Maverick Stone", is in Venezuela, near the southwestern side of the plateau. Several kilometers northeast from this is the Triple-Country Point, a survey monument where the three nations meet.
In these days of popular adventure tourism, the ascent has become a relatively easy trek of about three to five days. There is a ramp on the southwest side of the mountain's mostly sheer cliffs that allows a non-technical route to the summit plateau, very close to the Maverick Stone. The start point for these trips is Santa Elena, Venezuela, and several tour companies arrange them, using native guides and porters.
Highlights from the top of Roraima includes the views from The Window, Maverick (highest peak), the Jazucci, underground caves, the amazon jungle, the neighbouring countries of Guyana and Brazil, and the crystal valley.

If those rocks seem ancient it's because they are. The oldest on Earth. I could really feel their energy coming through the video. It makes me really want to go there. I was born in Edo. Bolivar, in a small mining town, not too far away, yet I left the country when I was 10 years old and never got to see Roraima, Canaima and Angel Falls in person. It's one of those things I must check off my bucket list before I die. I hope the situation improves in my beloved native country so that it is safe once again for all it's citizens and visitors alike. Thank you so much for creating these beautiful vignettes that take us on a journey to these rare, special places.....

Thanks for letting me follow along on your trip! I had just seen some aerial photos of Mount Roraima and was searching for more information. Your video is a real treat; you captured very well the amazing beauty of this wonderful place. A bum heart and a wheelchair will prohibit me from visiting Roraima this lifetime, but it's on my bucket list for the next one! ...and I liked the music, too.

I've being on top of Roraima and other Tepuys as Kukenan, and Auyantepuy as well as, many places on the Gran Sabana. For that reason, I encourage all visitors that takes their time and money to visit these gorgeous land scapes situated in the the Guyaneese Shield to refrain themself from purchasing any natural resourses as minerals (Quarz Cristals, Jaspe Rocks, etc), endemic plants and wildlife, etc, etc; that comes from these unique and magnificent remote area, which is constantly being looted by unscrupolous people that must be prosecuted and put into jail as well as, those who are knowing, motivating more and making reacher these dam thiefs . We cannot encourage these corrupted practices that spoils the life of native people. ENJOY YOUR TRIP TO THESE PLACES BY TAKING PHOTOGRAHS AND VIDEOS ONLY

It's not others rules; the only soap that doesn't contain chemicals that affect the enviroment is the blue bar soap, typically used for washing clothes, also known as Jabón Las Llaves. This act obviously had negative effects on the enviroment, and I can assure you that the soap was not biodegradable.

Hi! I'm from Caracas and I'm plannig to make a trip to this wonderful place in April. It's not the safest place but it's still visitable. I recommend you to not look like a tourist, if you know what I mean; and, obviously, having a friend/acquaintance is a big plus when unexpected events pop up. 120$ (21,240 bolivares) approximately is the amount of money wou will need (Cacaracas - Puerto Ordaz - Caracas airplane tickets included), and you have to consider that I'm just calculating it using the black market standards.

The price I gave you is the cost of the trip itself, anything extra is not included.

I liked this video and the other one on Caracas. How did you shot and edit it. Any tips on what to purchase and process. I like the style you use, and would like to give it a go myself. As for the Lost World, I was up close but not as close as you back in 2006 but watching your video am keen to go back... thanks my friend.

+desmond knox thanks. I have some decent camera equipment, nothing fancy. Used a editing software to put it together. These video are meant for myself as a way to remember and relive these extraordinary events. And thought I'd share them as well and inspire others to go out and explore our beautiful world

The best time to hike Roraima is during their summer season. Venezuela has only two seasons Summer and Winter (dry and rainy season). The rainy season goes from May to November. The rest of the year is summer. I went during end of November to early December, as I also went to Angel Falls. Although its' best to see angel falls during the rainy season, but with wet, cloudier conditions, November seemed to be a good month to tackle both in decent conditions with decent rainfall at angel falls. And just to add, up in Roraima, conditions can easily change. You may experience hail, rain, wind, thunderstorms, and 40 degrees heat, all within a day. You can check out the Angel Falls video at end slate. If you have another more questions, feel free to ask
