There's a valve in your throat, near your collarbone, that opens and closes to keep food from going into your lungs and that's where your throat branches into two tubes with one going to your stomach and the other to your lungs. That's how you don't breathe food.

The fact that people didn't give the art a chance and were doing the comparisons is funny. I don't think its bad. The chibi parts of the anime translated well and so did the rest. I cant wait to see a certain scene in a few episodes.
