Spike Lee's latest film tells the story of a black detective who infiltrated the KKK. The movie, called "BlacKkKlansman," is based on the life of Ron Stallworth, who was the first black detective in Colorado Springs. Stallworth joined CBSN to talk about his story and what it's like to see it come to life in the new film.

This man is a true American Patriot, and we need to pay attention to men like him - They are what makes this country great...BTW, love the T-shirt and his frank assessment of current events! Thank you, Spike Lee for bringing this story front and center now...especially today, the anniversary of the shameful events of Charlottesville.

It's a tee shirt for a man named 'Beto' (Roberto) O'Rourke - he is a candidate now running for Congress in the state of Texas (that's the red white and blue shape instead of the 'T' in the name) . Wearing it is a Liberal and anti-racist political statement. I believe Beto is Latino through his mother's side and I'm sure you can tell what his father's background is!! ;-D

It a good thing when a person doesn't experience racism, but dangerous not to know this Nation's history when the evil is still out there. My father made sure to tell us his experience as a child born 1924 and attends school before Mexicans were segregated from white people in the mid to late 1930's in Orange County (Garden Grove/ Fountain Valley, California). Mexican Americans were separated from white people and my father said he felt uncomfortable and missed being around his old classmates, Germans, Japanese, ect...

@@superlex611 yes, there are issues that still exist, I agree 100%. What I meant was there are many young people that haven't experienced the full expression of racism, because people before them have put laws in place, not to segregate, etc...but it is dangerous not to understand and have knowledge of this countries past especially when it comes to treating people different because of of their skin color, religion, or heritage/culture, So that at the first signs of it they know not to let it happen again and can put a stop to it right away.

I never knew about racism until i went to an all white school in mid 80s, maybe a total of 9 black kids in the entire school. 7th grade, these kids knew all the racist stereotypes, chicken & watermelon, welfare jokes. We didn't have a come back, cause we wasnt taught to hate anyone or judge someone by the color of their skin. But as we move into highschool years, Rap HIP-HOP became more popular, now these same kids was trying to be cool with us & dance like us. I later realize they were taught hate & didn't know why they hated us, but HIP-HOP brought us together. Damn i should write a book. Give it up for Old School hip hop.
