I feel like the biggest thing about this book is having a window into how Fleming built a novel. This was a first draft…it’s just a skeleton with some ideas. The second draft would’ve polished the plot and the third would’ve filled out more details etc

I wish there were 'more meat on the bone' when it comes to this novel. On a deserted island I would go with a movie.

Consider reading Colonel Sun, by Robert Markham. Kingsley Amis wrote a single Bond novel under this name for the Fleming estate in the mid60s. Has quite good echoes of the Fleming novels. There was talk, l believe, of doing a Markham series, possibly each by a single author but it did not pan out. Until the John Gardner books, under Gardners name, came along - which l thought was a strange choice, given that Gardner’s Boysie Oakes character was a kind of comic spy,a cowardly assassin. The Markham idea revived recently with the one offs by Faulks, Deaver etc.
