@@deelewis8061I have and it is. I came for Rambeau and left a fan of Ms Marvel. The film had so many things that were not explained. Like when they evacuated the Skrull planet. Ms Marvel wanted to get more and Captain Marvel said no we have to go. That was a real heavy moment and we heard nothing more. That would have been nice to see the young Marvel have to learn the lessons that the big girls have learned already. But we never touched on that again.

I find it funny that the best part of the movie is a teenager who's scenes mostly consist of her screaming "OH MY GAWD!!" Why does she do that? She's established as being Muslim.
@markiangooley
@markiangooley 8 ай бұрын
Maybe she still has a Muslim view of God but has just picked up the habit of using that phrase. Strictly speaking, Jews and Christians aren’t supposed to go around saying OH MY GAWD either: that whole bit about taking God’s name in vain still holds.
@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917
@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917 8 ай бұрын
@@markiangooley It's also established that, allegedly, most of her mannerisms come from her sheltered Indian upbringing. That's why she's so obsessed with Marvel stuff, it's the only thing in her life that isn't related to her family. So, what she should be saying is "Banchode," or some other common Indian expletive, not the standard western "OMG!"

@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917
@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917 8 ай бұрын
@@viktorvondoom5950 I've been to India and spoken to many Indians. I know that banchode isn't the go-to for all Indians, but variations of chode are the norm. For a movie where all of the other characters are delivering "Shit," and "Fuck," and "Motherfucker," it is weird that the Indians don't get to swear. It's also weird because Kamala Khan is marketed as being an authentic depiction of an Indian, and a Muslim. Like, going further, Kamala is DISNEY'S ideal Muslim girl. She loves Marvel unconditionally and is absurdly, even creepily, grateful for everything they do. She writes fanfiction, runs a KZfaq channel promoting Marvel, and would support Marvel with her dying breath. Her parents are so uncool and don't 'get' Marvel and thinks it's stupid, or even dangerous, but not her. In that context, why is it that she can't have a Hindi or Punjabi catchphrase, or say some authentic Punjabi swears? Why can't she say "Banchode," when she gets hurt or frustrated? Why does she have to shriek "OH MY GAWD! OH MY GAWD! OH MY GAWD!" every five seconds? Disregarding the cultural aspects, it would honestly just be more fun to hear swears from other languages, like how part of the appeal of Wolfenstein is learning bad German words. Are you saying that you don't want that? That you want the Indian girl to almost exclusively speak like an American teenager except when Marvel wants to pander with kitschy scenes like her going to church, or celebrating an Indian holiday? If you want that, cool, but I want Marvel to do better.

In the Captain Marvel comics, the prince thay married Carol was an ugly white guy with a bowl haircut and they rhymed to talk not sing. So yeah they raceswapped him (of course) and in their misplaced sense of diversity and inclusion, cast an Asian male for a sexless marriage of convenience lol. Also, they genderswapped the Kree general Darr-Benn, who in the comics debuted and died in rhe samw issue ( so I guess they got that right by killing her off in her movie debut) In the comics, Monica was the second Captain Marvel after Mar'Vell died of Cancer. Monica's role model was her father, Frank Rambeau, who was a firefighter. Monica never met Mar'Vell and didn't ask for the title Captain Marvel. Citizens just called her that because their powers looked similar. The Thing told her ro keep the name because "Mar'Vell wouldn't mind". So in 1982 she stayed as Captain Marvel for 20 years until giving the title to Mar'Vell 's son Genis'Vell wjo had it for some years until Carol got it in 2012. Also, yeah in this movie, they played it safe with Carol. She shoulda been responsible for nearly killing the planet but they pulled the punches. Notice in Multiverse of Madness, the 838 universe Dr Strange was killed off fordoing what he did which was to save that universe. he was still punished for it by the Illuminati. But Wanda and Carol get off. Sylvie in Loki gets off. Etc. Carol should have died going vinto the Sun as redemption and sacrifice. But nope

@@rubenjackson840 who said that? Do you know who Hector Ayala is? No? He's the first ever Latino superhero ever created. In the early 70's aka White Tiger. Of course, Marvel would rather bury an original character like this instead of promoting him, and instead, raceswap White legacy characters. MCU would rather raceswap Wonderman instead of giving us an original black character like Blue Marvel. They could have even tied Wonderman to Wanda in the MCU by saying he's from the 838 universe and is the father to her kids since obviously Vision can't have kids and in the comics there was always a love triangle there. MCU would rather take way T'Challa's genius inventor intellect he's always had in the comics since 1967, and instead, hand it over to his sister, Shuri, who's never had that ability since she was created in 2005. MCU would rather give us Phyla-Vell, but no Genis-vell, and no connection to Elysius or their father Mar'Vell since they depowered, genderswapped, and killed her off I. The first Captain Marvel movie. MCU would rather raceswap and depower the Wrecking Crew, making them a 30 second joke in She-Hulk instead of making them proper and also whitewash the leader of them, Elliot Franklin, from a Black guy to a scrawny white guy; Elliot, nicknamed "the black Bruce Banner" in the comics since he was one of the Smart characters in the comics and one of the first wve of black characters created in Marvel after Black Panther, Falcon, Storm and Luke Cage. Marvel and by proxy, Sony, would rather give us +50 versions of Spider-Man and Spider-Woman instead of focusing on those characters. Marvel would rather give us fucking Echo, Agatha Harness, and Ironheart, three characters no one asked for before actually getting Blade and Daredevil right. Imagine a Blade movie directed by Chad Stahlenski, the director of the John Wick movies? Sounds cool right? Well he pitched that idea to Marvel and they turned him down. Instead, Blade's taken almost 5 years to get off the ground, several directors quitting, the main actor, Ali, almost quitting, and a leaked script that shows it was gonna be a movie where Blade is a supporting character in his own movie behind three females. Who the fuck asked for that?? Does Marvel not realize the original Blade movie is what saved them from bk? Marvel gave us a made up black character, "Quaz", who's an obvious ripoff stand in for Arcturus Rann and Acroyear of the Micronauts because they were too fucking inept to get them into Quantumania even though we all know the Quantum Realm is the Microverse. Marvel gave us a bastardized version of Namor that had nothing to do with the source material, all so they could pander to Latinos. Like I said, just bring in actual Latino characters like White Tiger if you wanna do that. "Na'More" wasn't it bruh. And also wtf recast T'Challa. Don' nobody wanna see anorexic Shuri or baby T'Challa son Also, why TF is Sam Wilson Captain America? Way to devalue one of your first ever black characters Marvel. So you only see legitimacy in minority characters if theyre replacing more popular white ones? That's not diversity vand inclusion. That's pathetic sloppy seconds pandering. Stop touching the Panderstone Disney. There's nothing wrong with having minority characters and more females (btw, where the fuck is Cloak and Dagger bring them back), but the way you go about it is bullshit and demeaning to original characters, you berate the fans, you sit there with some third wave feminazi narrative and hypocritical virtue signalling mindset that's only bankrupting your company.

@@budgiecat9039 Not sure where it landed in the show as it was aired out of order here (with some arcs being all over the place, I don't think I ever saw the end of the Dark Phoenix saga), but there was an episode where Rogue starts going crazy because a woman is in her head accusing her of things, with accompanying flashbacks of things she doesn't remember. I think it's the same episode she discovers Mystique is her adoptive mother. Anyway, she eventually learns she was part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, absorbed Carol's powers on a mission and put her in a coma, and then ran away from Mystique because Carol overwhelmed her mind. It was Xavier who blocked her memories of the event and so she joined the X-Men (because Xavier is a manipulative jerk, even when he is being decent). She works through it, then the episode ends with her visiting Carol in hospital. We are told she's been there for years and had no visitors, or shown any sign of recovering. Somehow I knew if I had a good time watching the movie,I figured 1 or more over on Film Threat wouldn't have good things to say about this movie. I wasn't expecting 1 in the group to outright call it shit. But respect he didn't talk over anyone else and he didn't rant the whole episode on why it wasn't any good to him. I did enjoy listening to "The Filmcast" podcast review of the movie after watching it at my local theater. Something Fim Threat didn't appreciate that Filmcast did. That the movie was only 104 minutes long. I probably would have walked out if it was a 3 hr slog. There's only 1 Marvel movie scheduled for 2024. So dependent on how poorly Marvels does overall in theaters maybe the Disney shift Film Threat feels needs to happen.

it just seems like such a no brainer to introduce rogue as a villain. have her destroy carol danvers, frame the xmen as targets for the avengers. do an mcu version of “mutants are a menace” and then have a common enemy they have to work together to take out.

I feel like with all of the hate the internet keeps Marvel right now, all of us fans could've spent our own energy writing and plotting out a new introduction of the X-Men. That would be far more productive.

The gay rant was silly, but your right if they did it and made it with a $5million budget for a small audience that would make sense. It can exist as story thats fine and its ok for no one to give a shit about it. Alan is so right about starting the movie with the tradgedy of panet being destroyed, now i am interested just in listening to him telling me about it. I am still sore about Thor not having a dark version and maximisiing the GOR story, to show real pain and suffering by thor. It would have been cool to see GOR torchering Thor in their first meeting making him helpless. Then Thor in fear of fighting his tormentor but pushing through. Great reveiws, what good interesting group of reviewers.

I don't think if you made carol and monicas mom gay lovers who adopted monica it would be looked at positively. If it was a completely new character marvel studios made then sure they can do what they want, but turning captain marvel into a chick and making her lame AND gay would just be another layer of "woke"/progressivism

Alan says this movie was for teen girls, I beg to differ. Teen girls don't give a crap about this movie. This movie is on NOBODY's radar. Girls don't look up to a bland, emotionless, alien person who is invulnerable. Teen girls are very emotional, they look for character in people they can look up to, and they want to see themselves in others who have flaws just like them.

I watched the movie. Maybe there is a minority of teen girls who end up liking this movie. But I just can't see this being popular among a majority. It definitely will never resonate like Barbie did.

Here’s some interesting perspective, the same people that believe we should be bombarded with virtuous messaging, are also wasting millions and millions to make these movies, that nobody likes, all while people are starving.. Are these virtuous ladies giving their money to charity? Are they going to give their jobs over to people that are lower on their victim tree?

Captain Marvel isn't made for males. Captain Marvel is a modern updated princess movie like Snow White made as a Marvel movie. It's basically a mockery of the princess movies that Disney is famous for. No wonder male Marvel fans are so confused by this movie Carol Danvers isn't just a princess. She is a queen of a matriarchal society. She is gay. Her prince is gay. She married her prince for political reasons. She left her prince right after she married him. This movie even mocks the musical princess movies with the singing planet where everyone sings spontaneously. It mocks the iconic dance with the prince in Cinderella and in Beauty and the Beast. Captain Marvel is a strong independent woman who needs no one and has no responsibility for anything. She is capable of destroying a planet without compunction which is quite different that Princess Leia in Star Wars begging to save her planet. She can leave a child without a second thought as she zooms through the universe with her cat. Remember the connection that the princesses like Snow White had with animals? This is the reason for the weird story line with the cats in the movie. This is a modern updated princess movie like Snow White made in the Marvel universe. This princess needs no prince or anyone else. She is the most powerful being in the universe. And male fans of Marvel are also not needed. This movie is a hidden strike against the supposed patriarchy. and traditional role models.
