This is a mechanical counter that can go from 0-999 in both increasing and decreasing counts- and the whole thing is made with 3D printed parts- no additional hardware was used!
Something as simple as keeping count is easy to do in the digital space. Before computers and the digital age, however, we used gears and other mechanical components to achieve things such as keeping count. This is a 3D printable adaptation of a really cool mechanical device that is becoming increasingly obsolete in modern times.
Using a ratcheting lever and some interesting geneva gears, this counter works on a completely mechanical system and is quite satisfying to use.
