The messed up origins of Disney's Pocahontas.

Love, romance, and independence. That’s what most people see when they watch the film that is supposed to showcase how Pocahontas’ life was. But Disney’s version of “Pocahontas” is quite different from what actually went down. Here is the Messed Up REAL Story of Pocahontas.
Apparently, John Smith wasn’t actually as great as everyone thinks. In the film, he seemed nice and cute, but in reality, he was actually going around pointing weapons at tribes and forcing them to hand over their food and supplies. Because that’s the perfect way to win over a woman’s heart, right?
Whether it’s Pocahontas’ actual age, how she ended up in England or her kidnapping, there are a lot of things that Disney left out of the story. Trust us, the real story is a lot juicier than Disney’s version. Stay tuned to The Messed Up Real Story of Pocahontas to find out why her love story wasn’t so lovely.

@@brujo_millonario I agree, but authority is also a necessity. Without it there would be complete chaos. Also people do not come to be in a position of authority without reason. Children already naturally have the instinct to rebel so in my opinion it is better to teach them to be respectful and if they ever need to rise against corruption than they can do so with a level head.

Cause Disney would never create a movie that’s based on books, real life or other media the same way because most of the original stories have some dark moments and sometimes a dark ending and that will just get kids scared and give them nightmares. Disney always wants a happy ending and makes their movies kid-friendly and age-appropriate for kids so all ages can flawlessly enjoy it. Correct me if I’m wrong, okay? 👶🧒👧😱😁😀😉😌😑🤔🤷‍♂️🤷🤷‍♀️👍

Hey Pamunkey (Pocahontas' tribe) here! Next time you make a video about a Native American, use an actual Native American in the thumbnail and not a Filipina or someone portraying Pocahontas. Use her real image! Also, the Powhatan were not a tribe but an alliance of over 30 tribes. Chief Wahunsenecawh (Powhatan) was actually Pamunkey. Pocahontas' mom is speculated to be either Pamunkey or Patawomeck. Some of the tribes that were part of that alliance that are still around today are the Pamunkey, Mattaponi, Upper Mattaponi, Patawomeck, Chickahominy, Eastern Chickahominy, and the Rappahanock.

@@asans9849 It's all a matter of perception. A person who comes from one country/region and settles in another is quite appropriately and accurately called an 'immigrant.' The term 'settler' is another descriptor of the same thing: settling in one place after leaving another. The words only take on 'good' or 'bad' evaluations based on how we tend to employ them in speech and in writing. The more you see 'settler' associated with something you deem 'bad' or 'evil' the more likely it will be that you react negatively to it. Moral evaluations stick to value-free words like barnacles on a boat.

I disagree it does not portray a beautiful love story, I was young but I still remember Pocahontas waving their ship back home to England at the end. Obviously not true even at the time of watching the movie, and that can leave some kids with a lot to ponder. I still love the movie it’s etched on my heart forever, I can’t help it. I think it communicated very big ideas at a very young age, maybe too big of ideas. What actually just struck me, nd plz rly take a min to think about what I’m getting at the last thing I’m trying to do is offend or upset anyone etc, the Pocahontas Disney movie is actually much more historically accurate than a lot of the trash we’re being fed these days. Also Disney has already gone ahead and barred any live action remaking of Pocahontas being made whatsoever. She is forever left out of the Disney princesses, so we can all forget about historical accuracy or love stories etc etc. I think there is a lot we could discuss about that, too. ❤️

Matoaka was her name, but it means "Bright Stream Between the Hills", not "Flower Between Two Streams". She wasn't 10 and him 27, she was 12 and he was 24. Also she wouldn't be aloud at the ceremony, which is true, but she would have had to force her way in, and the place he would've been killed at an where she was wasn't that far. Get the facts right.

According to John Smith's records, she did not go to Jamestown alone with food. She had her servants with her to assist. Also, it was John's own account that described her as having saved his life after a month of living as a captive in the tribe. So, it's hard to know how accurate this assessment is.

They did not have photographs during Pocahontas times so the closest would be drawings or paintings or written descriptions from that time to know what she looked like. If they wanted to do a photograph it would have to be based on actual drawings, paintings or descriptions from that time to get to the closest to what she looked like which would not be 100 percent accurate.

Yeah Pocahontas was a fictional character, along with settling from east to west. They have brainwashed "history" so far into our minds it's insane. Our true history is Tartaria. We were once all peaceful people until the cabal and their puppets - Vatican, Jesuits, freemasons, big corporations, celebrities - all ripped that from us.

I like the story and movie itself, I just don’t like that they changed to many aspects of the story and make it seem like a romance and like it had a good ending. They could have just named her something other than Pocahontas. As far as I can tell they didn’t completely white wash it, most of the white men were bad. I, personally, don’t think the story is bad, I'm a non violence person, so I didn’t mind that Pocahontas stopped him from being killed. I liked how Pocahontas made him open his eyes to see her way of life. I, as a white person, think that the story has good aspects but tries to hide the original story and reality but it’s also a Disney Movie so you can’t really expect anything other than a fairytale. It’s a sensitive topic.

Like most things with Colonial History, history books are about as good as fire wood. You can't really so that the movie Pocahontas is fake you know they actually took a picture they found of Pocahontas and tried to make her in the movie real but also cartoonish for they kids! So if you said you would just like the truth than you got it in the movie! What kid would want a movie with real life people that look like the people is his them that are in the movie walking and singing like a scientist made the movie?? I know I wouldn't! But at the same time (not to be racist) if you didn't know her background you wouldn't understand! I'm Indian and Black so I understand what she is coming from! Like when in the movie " you can't claim the land if you don't know what's on it!" Or " you think the only people on earth is people who look and think and talk like you!" I understand that (not trying to be racist about this) (not trying to bring this up white people) but if you dont know to slavery story you wouldn't understand but you can't just take over what you think you can! Like when white people took black people as slaves you cant do that or when white people took over the indians you cant do that! So I understand that movie and the history of her and other people you got to put things in your own prospective!

There is only one known photograph of Pocahontas, you can find this picture in the book, “Pocahontas, Alias Matoaka, and her Descendants Through her Marriage at Jamestown, Virginia, in April, 1614, with John Rolph” by Wyndham Robertson. This story is also very incorrect. They were indeed married, John was born in 1585 and Pocahontas in 1595, they were only 10 years apart. They had one son, Thomas, and traveled to England where Johns family was, and it was there that Pocahontas died at age 21. She was buried at Gravesend.

There is a lot of falsified facts in this video. For example, Pocahontas’ family helped cure John Rolfe’s tobacco business. The native Americans used tobacco in various rituals so John Rolfe needed. Also, Pocahontas was a “beloved woman” and beloved women were allowed to go to rituals and she did save John Smith because she saw him in her “dream-vision”. Her saving him was the reason that the native Americans essentially accepted him and created an alliance.
