I was born and live in Arizona. While I'm not Mormon, I have several friends that have close relatives in the Mormon colonies in Mexico. When I was a kid we used to go down and visit them there. This was a very good piece of reporting and highly accurate. For anyone who is confused, private citizens in Mexico are not allowed to own firearms. That is not a Mormon thing, it is the law in Mexico. Even in 2020, this video is still applicable. Thank you!

@@xPrinceTyTyx We spend an insane $51,000,000,000 annually on the failed War on Drugs. Instead, we should decriminalize all drugs and just use those funds on rehab, counseling, and mental health services. Tax drugs and make them safe by selling at dispensaries like we do with legal weed, and put the tax money into education and infrastructure so that we decrease the poverty cycle that can lead to addiction in the first place. Every country that has done this has found that addiction rates drop sharply, they save an insane amount of taxpayer money, crime rates drop dramatically, and overall citizen health and happiness increase. But of course we don't want to do that here because it feeds the for-profit prison system. Can't lose that sort of taxpayer backed slave labor, after all, it ends up in the pockets of lobbyists, CEOs, and politicians.
@shatterthemirror8563
@shatterthemirror8563 4 жыл бұрын
@@BasedRanger It's a fine line between controlling the drug traffic by arresting the traffickers and controlling it by favoring some over others. That's what every drug war has to lead to though. First it's criminalized and only after it's completely controled can it be permitted under the conditions of those who govern. That's actually how weed is being legalized for instance and why that's happening in the very areas that have done the most to enforce the laws. That's why I would wait to use any drug until it was legalized and only for it's intended purpose. That's exactly the mentality though that the average user on the street is violently opposed to.

Mexico is damn near like another planet. It is not the USA with the culture, laws and order we are familiar with, they have their own, very, different culture and rules. I'm in southern caliornia and, of course many mexicans here but even mexicans have their bad stories of various criminal incidents they were victims of on triips down there. CC theft, a million kinds of fraud, car theft, corruption, it's endless, Too many of the people down there they see the gringos as marks to be exploited. The lure used to be cheap stuff but no more. The place scares me and anyone who isn't scared down there is oblivious to the danger all around. I've been to Mexico several times and feel no need to return, so I probably won't.

Christianity is no stranger to this with King James and Martin Luther being notable examples. Being Protestant is still considered being Christian. Mormons are no different. This documentary hits especially hard for those of us who genuinely love Mexico. Not Cancun or the spring-break beaches and all that tourist crap, but the real Mexico and the people. I'm not Mexican by blood or even born there, but I did live in Mexico for 5 years in Morelia and Patzcuaro, Michoacan where my father taught at the University. And I love this place, more than I do my own home country of Sweden. I love the people, the food of course, the environment, the genuine triumphant and hardworking ethic of Mexicans. So it made me sad seeing all the blood and violence that has erupted in Mexico in the last years. I haven't been able to visit because of how dangerous it is. I was there in September 2008 when the cartels threw grenades into a busy plaza in Morelia, Michoacan. I was on the opposite side of town and not near the vicinity of it, but I remember everyone running away. And I, stupidly, walked to see what happened. And it was chaos. THIS war is especially sad, because it was never fair to begin with; it is particularly apocalyptic because they don't want anyone to win.
@nerblebun

I'm an American citizen who also loves Mexico. For 20 years I've driven down to the small village of Mulege in Baja Sur, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez at least twice a year. When my brother retired, he built a home on the Bay of Conception just south of Mulege and moved there. One of my favorite places in Mexico is the small village of Yelapa, just south of Puerto Vallarta on the mainland. The Mexican people are some of the finest, hard working people I've ever met. I love my Mexican friends like family. I too am sad at what the Drug Cartels have done. It is no longer safe to travel south of the border. If the U.S., with the greatest demand for drugs, would change our archaic drug laws it would put an end to this senseless violence. Making marijuana legal would destroy the profit these Cartels are making and put them out of business.
@Hottides

Not crazy at all how it was recommended. Vice is now Globalist trash and KZfaq/Google loves propping up Globalists. Vice did real stories back in the days like many did but now most have sold out and are just propagandists. The reason it's popping up now is to try and give validity to THOSE THAT GOOGLE PICKS to be so-called Authoritative News aka Propaganda. THIS VICE IS LONG GONE and what they are trying to do is manipulate you with older stories to try and validate them as still a credible news source which is the furthest thing from the truth these days.

STOP SAYING “MORMONS CAN OWN GUNS!” He was saying that the MEXICAN Mormons can’t own guns, because they are illegal in Mexico. He never said Utah Mormons can’t own guns. In fact he even mentions how many they have.

@@Thatoneguyviner He can't, because it's nonsense. What's true is Mexico has the plague and flea-infested rats are swarming across the border to a neighborhood near you. *BUILD THE WALL!* Anyone who disagrees is saying "I want more drugs (including fentanyl), MS-13 gang members, cartel violence and disease from unvaccinated immigrants." Funny how the folks against the wall have walls around their house and armed security. And states against the wall aren't even on the border.

Grumpy Hermit while I agree his comment isn’t deep and he probably read it somewhere I have a question, how do you feel about legal immigrants? I’m against crime & against illegals but legally immigrate I’d say they’re as welcome as any white guy to me. On that note, how do you feel about illegals that actually come up here not to raise hell but to work? (I do construction there’s a shitload lol)

@@dustinLenn Now, you can believe this, or not, but 2 of my good friends emigrated to the US (one from Cameroon, the other, Nepal) and earned their citizenship....one of them with blood...and they are more patriotic than 99% of today's millennial. They are both for the wall, against illegals' disrespectful, unappreciative protests and their primary allegiance to their home country. They have both seen the other side and they know how god damn good it is to be an American and I have tremendous respect for both of them. So, emigrate (legally), assimilate, contribute (don't be a leech) and put America *FIRST* and I will welcome you.
