"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy s**t we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
From the movie "Fight Club", 1999.
I do not own anything.

This line has stuck with me ever since i first heard it. It’s so true in today’s society. So many of us are slaves in comfortable chains, and we’re the ones who shackled ourselves and also have the key to be freed but don’t want to.

I love how Tyler stares at Angel Face (Leto) when he says we can't all be rockstars. I'm gen X, two decades older, but that gen has a similar problem. We just wanted to have fun. At some point, you want more out of life. Typically purpose comes from a certain calling or the responsibilities raising a family. Lots of people wander aimlessly in life. It can help to get rid of distractions and just walk in nature and reflect. Truth is found only in a peaceful state of mind. What also gave me more insight was the Myers Briggs test. And Jean Bolen's "Gods in every man". Those are also very helpful ways of looking into yourself. If your job is meaningless, possibly you have the time to do something that feels meaningful outside of it. Gotta pay the rent/mortgage but try not to waste money on junk you don't need. Maybe you could work one day less who knows. I know right now with Bidenflation most folks already can't make both ends meet. Remember remember, the 8th of November...

This resonated with me and a lot of my friends in HS, a lot of us were studying just for the sake of studying, because our parents told us to, we had no idea what was the point of it, but we were afraid of the consequence of ignoring this "responsibility", slogging through it all really took a toll on us, we live in a country where learning disabilities and clinical depression aren't really recognised as "real", so our wannabe fight club and the bond we made was the thing that kept a lot of us going, and now, I'm 23, I've found my passion, and am pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering for it, we absolutely refused to let life f us over, our spite and hate towards everything in life, that made us frustrated and bitter, kept us going and made us fiercely determined to live fulfilling lives and be happy

I always believed that the point of life is to leave something behind when you're dead. A legacy. An artist's legacy is his art; a musician, his music. Society thought us if we don't have talent then our legacy should be our children. But now, we can't even have that. When a woman you desire only wants to be with a millionaire or a 6'2 guy. But we need to fight to find a way to leave our mark on this earth one way or another. DO NOT GIVE INTO DESPAIR. Keep working on yourselves men! Keep building yourselves physically, spiritually, and financially and all paths you never thought possible will open up.

While a person is alone, he can't do anything, but once an accomplice appears, much is possible. You can establish a dialogue "Ask him what he believes in?" -Find out where you made a mistake? -Why would he have such a fate? -Who is next to him, or is he alone? And behind all these questions, there is one -What is the purpose of his life? The simpleton will answer that he lives-to live, or his parents decided for him-what career to choose! But in fact, the meaning of life is to win and above all yourself, to go from a loner to the leader of society. Societies where the main thing is not the one who is rich and just strong, but the one who has the courage to live, forgetting about the little things. Find me someone who has the power to be yourself, someone who will not change their principles..

I remember two of these lines completely differently and vividly so. "Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need." I remember that as "We buy shit we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like." And particularly jarring is the line about the Great Depression, which I remember as "Our Great Depression is our depression." I always thought that line was kind of lame, and it's just completely different in this clip.

sicsofnine 2000 don’t think it’ll create strong men. We still live in a world ran by women’s ideals. We will return to the same shit we were in before this started. Some people are beginning to stir, but most will remain the same flaccid dicks they were all along. To those that are waking up and making a change for themselves, good. To those that are done being controlled by societal forces of which pay them no respect, good. To those that are willing to sacrifice luxuries for the sake of being of strong character, good. Do those things and you’ll find self fulfillment.

The capitalism was historically planned to enrich only a certain group, the ones who keep to themselves the techniques of perfect use of capitalism. Did you never heard most bankers and rich families belongs to a specific religion and ethnicity? Did you never heard about the Jewish mentality to attract spiritual and material wealth? Why only them know this mentality? It is preached and passed trough their generations. Yes, what you said is a natural behavior but this is not the capitalism itself. The capitalism is a system planned to give to the non-Jewish the crumbs and to the Jewish the complete food. Who you think stimulates the consumerism? Who you think this movie is really criticizing? Is is not only the capitalism, it is a whole group.
