You seemed to have skipped past one of the most important fights of his career, his loss to Mike Watson. Benn described the loss as being taken to school. That was the fight where Benn learned the difference between knocking out average fighters and what it takes to compete at the highest level. The lessons Benn took from that fight changed him from a reckless knockout artist to a world class boxer.

Roy Jones smoked Sugar Boy Malinga inside 6 rounds, Benn had life n death *TWICE* with the same fighter, was beat by him once & Eubank got another of his debatable decisions against him. Benn n Eubank both were great at European level, if you discount the Irishmen that beat them, Ray Close & Steve Collins. Benn n Eubank were great British level fighters, beyond that, they were Good at European level, Sparring partner level for the Yanks. Benn was flawed n ferocious, exciting but only against bums, he struggled with top class fighters. No shame in that, he struggled n over came a few top class fighters but he was never in the same conversation as James Toney or Roy Jones & neither him nor Eubank even pretended they were anywhere near either of those which is why they concentrated on each other, unknown Brazilians & a few over the hill Yank nearly men

Guy was terrible for boxing. People complain about "too many belts these days" but did you know that since the 1930s there have always been at least 2 champs per weight class. It was never a problem though because the belts were almost always unified. In the 70s, King realized you could make more money segregating the belts. Suddenly it became common to split the championship belts. That "innovation" was lead by King. He then started backing the IBF abd paying fir rankings. The mess boxing is in today is in large part the legacy of Don King.

I wonder how many believers there would be in the world if it were not forced on children? Probably alot less. Surely if there was a god the biggest thing thing he would do would be to present himself in some way to all us doubters and say" surprise"? I won't hold my breath. Life is Blessed that is true, That’ll be a boxing promoter/managements dream; Vegas would be on fire.. boxing fans would feel like comic book fans when Infinity Wars was in the theater. I’d love to see Julius Jackson in his prime in this era, an Roy Jones too.. geezus that would be interesting. I agree, man, great points!

JT ehhhhh.. I disagree, but he was a good fighter, seriously. In their prime? You’d say he’s the best out THAT list?

Great video of 1 of my all time favourites the 90s was boxing at its prime, never again will we see that many great fighters in 1 decade. Would be great if you did a video on Herbie hide.

My Uncle Henry Wharton fought him for the WBC super middleweight title in 1994 and in the same year fought Chris Eubank. I have much respect for Nigel, he was definitely one of the "greats" of the division.

Henry Wharton was a solid fighter back in the day. I'm sure he dropped Benn in that fight too

Great video. I am not aware of Nigel ever fighting in any wars around the world while he was in the Forces. Keep up the good work and great content.
