I am now a fan of Dricus. He embodies the delusion of "I'd be a champion in 3 years if I started training now" in all of us. His mechanics resemble someone with not much fighting experience, his body and strength is at the level that most of us overrate our physical capabilities at, his ability to make game plans is actually the only thing that the delusion enjoyers among us possess the same as him and lastly his bravery represents the dog in us that we delude ourselves of having.

Listen to the first few minutes hearing the same two clowns trying to exonerate themselves from last weeks poor judgements with misplaced laughter, 'insights'' which means jack and not appreciating differences in styles makes for myopic views which are suffucating in its pontification. The style of podcast is overbearing and reminiscent of a bygone era. Rather listen to Jon Anik and his guests for much better quality commentating. This is a waste of time...

The funniest thing about the Cruz thing is that on that night he had evolved past just brining the cuts thing up when someone was actually cut. In the Jasudavicius fight, while she was beating the absolute piss out of her opponent and dominating every second of the fight. Cruz was like "she needs to land some elbows here...open up a cut to convince the judges...".

Is DDP technically a better kickboxer than Strickland and Adesanya? Does technique even matter? Jokes aside he really is function over form/ tactics over mechanics. He looks goofy trying to move around but when the slapstick stuff is over, he is almost always in a position to hit back and his opponents aren't. So weird.

I do but it is also a thing where Dricus is somehow always in position to fire back while supposedly sophisticated strikers like Whittaker and Till are looking pretty and cutting angles on him but at the end of the initial exchange Dricus is in a position to fire back and they aren't. I mentioned it in the comments on the previous episode too, Slack's article just solidified the idea in my mind. @@joshuaalach9431

Hey guys I’ve been trying to get in touch with either of you. I’m a big fan of y’all and MMA in general and I wanted to talk to you about promoting your show. I noticed the podcast doesn’t have any social media presence and I wanted to see if you guys wanted help with that. I tried DMing Conor on twitter, sending a clip and some pictures I made of the handies but I’m afraid I don’t have the most professional sounding handle on there. I think you guys have a great show and I believe more people should listen to it. I’d really like to help if I could just have a conversation with either of you or both about what I can do. It was telling when they said none of his opponents have pressured him, trying to get him on the back foot. All his opponents have tried to actually. They just tend to get finished when they do. Just like Soldic did in the first fight

Vettori pressures or at-least holds the center most of the time throw straights a lot of the time. And will throw with people a lot of the time. And Cannonier hits hard and has good kicks. I think they are bad bad match ups for DDP. But then again all the laws of the universe said that Rob would win so who knows.

Early second round he KOs him. Do you guys watch matches drunk? Many of his opponents have tried to pressure him and they tend to get KOd eg Giles. The second fight against Soldic he had gained too much weight and couldn’t do the weight cut properly anymore. It affected his durability and so they abandoned the division

Have yet to listen to the episode, but I just wanted to comment that I spent more time than I should have this week arguing on r/mma with people who think Streakland has good defense. One guy said his defense is 9.4/10 and had over 200 upvotes. The man who literally has nothing but parries and the tall man lean back, both of which routinely get him in trouble, has defense of 9.4/10. The man whom Dricus reliably hit because he threw looping overheands which cannot be parried. To be clear, Sean does have some defense, but the fact that a fighter with any defensive activity at all is viewed as a defensive mastermind just goes to show how low MMA standards for defense are. Thought you snobbish, contrarians would appreciate this.

I would say that he does have good defense... for MMA. Which is to say it's super idiosyncratic. It takes an actually sharp striker to find the gaps. He pays close attention to his defense, though, which immediately puts him near the top of the MMA heap

The weird part is he used to legit be pretty good at commentary and in recent years is by far the worst of the crew. When breaking down techniques he is great, the vast majority of the time he just sucks at the job though. Too confrontational with other commentators and seems confused on how fights are judged.

To the stupid point of Muslim fighters not getting criticized, there an equal number of devout Christian fighters who are outspoken but don’t go around blaming the downfall of masculinity, the US, or wherever they live on gay people. Again, it's all orchestrated, if UFC don't want those questions asked they would never be asked, how often Dana is asked about wife slapping or lawsuits and stuff ?
