My brother passed away Nov 21 2019. He was only 39. He had a work related accident. We were SO close. We always listened to synthwave music like this. And he was SUCH an 80s head, and I was too, by default lol. Ralph Macchio reminded me SO much of my brother that I couldn't always finish watching the Karate kid. The Comeback Kid was my introduction to The Midnight. Went through a really rough time 3 years ago. I was lost and in a dark place, but listening to the Midnight helped me get through, then two years ago I met the love of my life and we went to see them live in Manchester in November last year, easily one of the best nights of my life.

All my life I kept suppressing my undying urge to make music. I did it all, worked dead end jobs, blue collar jobs and was jobless for a bit. Now, at 41 I am married, have a kid, and a decent job. This year, I pushed myself to try to learn how to produce music and then I came across this master piece from Midnight. Since I heard it, I've never stopped learning music production. Last week, I released my first single "Words are not enough" by my stage name DJ Sid Neon. Every time I need inspiration, I come back to this video. Never will I stop, no matter how difficult or impossible it seems.

Best line: "I've made mistakes and I've been hard hit, I say, 'So What? What If I Did?". We all need to remind ourselves of this. Unless your mistake cost someone else their life, or caused serious, irreversible damage, a mistake has the potential to be undone, or the damage cannot be repaired. So many times, we really do have to "Start Over, Start Over Again" to move ahead.

This song has saved me from myself countless times, has brought me back from the brink of death and continues to play a pivotal role in my life. I’d say it’s the soundtrack to my chaotic life. I’m 37 years old, trying to beat 27 years of drug addiction - 17 of those years hardcore heroin and crack use - and slay the demons that lay beneath powering that addiction. So, The Midnight - I am so very grateful. I will never give up on me. ❤️ To you my friend - that’s why I get up again ❤️🌈⭐️

I found this song on the cusp of a pending divorce after a messy separation. It felt like my life was being torn in two and I was losing everything that I'd worked hard for after a youth filled with bad luck and worse choices. The song at the time reached me as a call for me to try harder to make things work with her, to make her see I could be that come back kid again. Things didn't work out, sometimes they aren't supposed to. Now, I listen to this song and realize no matter what you have to be the reason you come back, you have to be the reason to work hard and you should always be the person you need to impress and find fulfillment in. I'm still that comeback kid, just now I know what I'm actually coming back from and what I have to look forward to - health independence and a brighter outlook on life after being beaten up and pushed down. I won't say this song saved my life, it didn't save my marriage, and it didn't save the household my kids would have grown up with - but it does help me reflect on all of the decisions that led me here and give me a much needed perspective on life in a way not many other things do. If you ever feel like you aren't going to make it through something hard, or feel like you've lost everything just know that you only lose when you give up. Everyone's got a comeback kid in them, you just have to work hard to see it. If it was easy the first time you wouldn't have failed, so don't expect it to be easy this time. Push through it, earn it, and come back.

I always felt Mr. Miyagi was a guy who wanted the same things early in life as Daniel. Because he failed to achieve that in his own life he couldn't wait to help Daniel and pass down his knowledge on how to lead a good life with balance and slowly grow to become a master in karate. At the end you can see that on his face, no wife, no kids, unstoppable master in karate but was a broken man in his own life. He sacrificed everything and maybe he felt it wasn't worth it but he was able steer Daniel in the right direction which made him happy in the end.

I survived a very rough childhood. I nearly committed suicide in college. I self-harmed in my teens. I’ve lived through countless abusive relationships and my most recent ex was a narcissist. I developed PTSD as a result of that relationship. I ended it three years ago when I finally decided enough was enough. Ever since then, I started delving deep into my trauma and working on healing. I still battle with flashbacks and nightmares, even from traumatic childhood memories. However, as a result of my hard work from finding out who I really am and working on my mindset, my emotional strength, my confidence, finding out my core values and committing to bodybuilding, I can finally say for the first time in my life that I really and honestly love myself and I love living. It’s a wonderful feeling, and it’s so freeing. I lost my maternal grandfather last year before the pandemic due to lung cancer, when the summer of the previous year he seemed fine. I was utterly devastated. I had my dog for 13 years and one day back in March he just ran away when I wasn’t home and I never saw him again. I cried so hard when I learned he got hit by a car and was gone, just like that. It had been months since I heard this song, and I woke up with it in my head after dreaming about both my dog and my grandpa. I choked up when the first chorus hit my ears. To anyone who’s going through some serious shit right now, just hang in there. You’ve got a success story in the making. The world is better with you in it, and you’d be doing yourself a major disservice if you were to follow through with any plans of ending your own life. You matter and you have so much more to offer the world than what anyone or anything has you convinced you are worth. We’re all gonna make it. We’re the Comeback Kids.

All from knowing that someone is thinking about you, and you're thinking about them. Now we are so spoiled and we take for granted that we can talk to the person we want whenever. Beautiful song and beautiful cut video. I remember that movie. It is legendary. It was THE MOVIE when I was a kid. The one we all refered to and spoke about. I've said the line "Just like in Karate Kid" a million times over the years. So wonderful to reconnect to that movie. I think I'll watch it again!
