Today we are playing MMORPG Tycoon 2 and we will be making an mmo that is pay to win and guess what it is broken! We will be charging people £1000 to just respawn in the game. Everything will have micro transactions in this insane tycoon game! Our game will naturally make us millions. We beat going medeival by building a giant trap maze but for this we will be creating a nightmare hardcore MMO game that requires you to become a millionaire to play. so using this mmo tycoon we will make the best mmorpg!
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. Maplestory actually did used to have a quest you had to spend real money to complete. When the 'Mercedes' class was first released, you needed an item called 'unicorn food' to get her storyline mount. It had to be purchased for $10 in the cash shop. And it was an actual quest you get in-game money and xp for. They have since changed it so that you can complete it with 10mil in-game currency instead, but this video reminded me of it.

Wasn't that the idea someday in Japan... They created Arcade Machines that were connected to other Machines, building an intranet out of arcades. And people were storming these arcades to throw in a lot of money. MMO Arcades are where the real money is!

IGN: The price of respawning and flight paths could be deemed a little egregious for some. But the amount of time that it takes to grind means you will find more than enough value in this game. Not to mention, that lower price point up front is just gravy. 10/10.

Amazing business idea. Free MMO, no subscription fees, but to log out it costs 5 pounds, otherwise your character is deleted. Going AFK also deletes your character unless you purchase AFK protection (1 pound per AFK).

I backed SC as well and I don't mind the reference, because he is an entertainer and his brilliant nonsense is part of the fun. And those phrases are kind of stereotype, normaly used by people who like to troll SC backers or for some reason hate it. And yes there are ships that cost a lot.... but you don't have to buy them. But for some reason some say you will have to and that's where such phrases kick in... In fact people who buy such ships often say "My wallet (or my wife, or both) gonna hate me!" :D

Balance suggestion: For the scenery, it could be possible to have a "cohesion level" and a "repetition level" so that putting the same plant gives diminishing rewards and so that you cant just slap together random bits of scenery and calling it a day. So winter themed stuff would have a higher "cohesion level" than if you mixed ice and desert themed stuff. This could be in the form of a score multiplier, so high cohesion would give a high multiplier, and a repetition would give a multiplier

Also make it so concentrated areas of props have a lower effect on the scenery rating. This could be done to avoid players placing every possible prop in one big square in a corner, but so it still allows a player to place similar props together.

and y'know, limit the amount of props per region of the map, so you can't just go from version 1 to 5 in the first region with just an auto clicker and one type of prop selected. maybe make the limit high, but not infinite. maybe have a soft limit and a hard limit, in case someone wants to actually spend time designing something nice, but would go over the limit to do so, the hard limit would be tied to servers and nodes and the soft limit would be where diminishing returns start occurring, where nothing new in one region would affect version number or prettiness.

Imagine being interested in a game that used to cost 40 pounds that all of a sudden blows up, and you NEED to play it, so you pay the somehow increased price of 1000 pounds. Then wait a few days... and it's gone free to play. Then your friends really want to play it because it's free? and then... it cost 1000 pounds again. If that's not a sign of success, I don't know what is!

@Honudes Gai think they mean the cash shop tutorial where they give you the funds to buy some inconsequential cheap thing that doesn't do anything other than finish the quest, tho idk about any mmo doing this it is a common practice in mobile and browser games.

Having to pay to complete quests has actually been done, Spiff. One of Josh Strife Hayes' recent Worst MMO Ever videos had a game requiring you buy an item from the cash shop to complete a specific quest - multiple times, and with the item not doing anything other than completing the quest.

I absolutely love how the first combat zone basically became a town. This would be a great idea for an actual RPG. Step by step changing the world as the players reach goals and milestones.

@@BrokenRazorButterfly Make the change level based. You reach a certain level, get quest out of town or in towm and boom change after the quest. AND free movement to the town before and after.

@@okupant880... you mean instanced changes? if its on a per player basis then not much point to it, since other players dont actually see the change you caused and if the "before" variant is even still available its hard feeling like you have had an impact on the world at all from what i understood of your comment before it was actually changing the world map in accordance to player progress, not instanced changes only players who archieved it could see cause that stuff allready exists
