I'd rather risk getting "dragged into an argument" to make it clear that's not ok, rather than risking giving them that kind of tacit validation. A stream is a shared space and what's ok and what's not ok is ultimately determined by the participants. I'm just disappointed that so few people (1) told them to fuck off.

@@benoplustee If someone is just genuinely making a joke, innocent about how offensive they're being, then the appropriate response is to engage. If someone is being intentionally inflammatory in order to provoke a negative response, then the appropriate response is to ignore or report. If you engage them, you're just giving them what they want. They're trying to offend, and they know you'll be more offended than your message lets on. The problem isn't that you'll get dragged into an argument, the problem is that they'll be more likely to act offensively again if you reward them for their efforts. I don't think being ignored would feed anyone, but if you're really concerned, then you should want this person timed out or banned. Even being acknowledged by Levy saying "dude, that stuff isn't welcome here" followed by a timeout would be better than ten people acting indignant, as long as he doesn't break composure or otherwise comment on it.
