It’s so awesome that your neighbors join in the fun. Some people like to be grinchy complain about the traffic and noise.

Absolutely loved this video Mark! thank you so much for taking the time to make a video about all of the things that go into the display and how you do them this answers so many of the questions I had about your display back when I came for the bts tour last year. i also really enjoyed the humor in the video you have the best sense of humor! Thanks again for all you do and i must say your display is one of a kind and nobody would be able to replicate it even if they tried! its so cool to see the ways you made permanent items that you can use year-round.

Well ... it really was not that long a video... but to a fellow lighting junkie... it was vry goodo to see others ways and views of props and items.... what was the screen looking item on the back ridge of the house... ? I got some really good ideas from your set up that im goign to play with this year... whaqt moving head is that... i have 4 small ones that i have yet to make use of... they need some kind of bubble to cover tham as they are not water tight... any suggestions as to where i can find them... anyway thanks for the info and tour... youjust wont see me on a roof that steep... G

That's my TV antennae :-) I noticed that when watching it and wondered if someone would ask :-). Contact David Spalding on Facebook for those moving heads. Love, love LOVE they are just plug and play with no dome (as well as the gobos and 16 colors vs just plain white) Thank you for the kind comments and let me know if you come across any other questions.

@@bentonvilleheartlites Hey Mark this is George again... did some research about the covers for my moving head lights... found some that should be here within a month . Now the real question... I have had these for about 5 years and never used them (was in LOR) now xlights... I have 4 of them. dont know how to use them... they move and change colors all by DMX is there any help you can offer how to set them up and how to program them? I would really appreciate any assistance G

@@georgehall9670 would love to help but what your asking is probably more than I can encapsulate in a youtube reply...and honestly I haven't seen a video I would necessarily recommend (maybe I should make one myself :-) ). If you are on FB, send me a message in FB Msgr. If not, are you on any of the lighting forums? Probably would be easier to share the detail you are looking for in one of those communication mediums.

I loved your video and how in depth your presentation was. I’m also happy that you didn’t get hurt tripping into the attic. This showed me that you are REAL and didn’t have to edit it 😉! I do have a question as I am very new to xlights and pixels. You mentioned on a few spots of the video about separate power boxes. How exactly do they work? Are they used for power injection? I have recently purchased a combo of 5v and 12v pixels and I’m not entirely sure if I’ll need additional power supplies until I get started putting things together. What have you seen in the way of quantity of pixels (5v) can be run before power injection was needed on the props? Thank you again for the time you spent to record this video. I learned a lot.

Did you mention how many pixels you run in your display and how many breakers in your electrical panel you use, just getting into the hobby so any guidance would be appreciated. Enjoyed the video, got me thinking about things I could do in my display.

I'm somewhere north of 50,000 pixels (not including P5 panels). I only use 1 dedicated breaker and 2 breakers shared with household stuff. I run 5v which can run almost 2 1/2 times as many pixels as 12v for the same power (12 divided by 5). Glad you enjoyed video.

@Bentonville Heart Lites are u using 5V to all ur pixels? I wish we could see more inside the controller box...

yes all 5v. Sorry but our display no longer exists so no way to show our old controller boxes

What do you say in your Public Awareness Message and how do you handle donations? I am also a Veteran and when my show gets gets larger I would like to setup a donation box but I'm not sure how to handle it. I would like to use the donations to offset the cost of show and to give to a local veterans organization. I want to ensure I use the donation box ethically and am transparent on what the funds will be going to. Thank you for the Fantastic Video, it has given me several ideas for my show!

We funneled all money to our local MS chapter. We just kept a spreadsheet with each day and how much cash was collected so we had a written record that could be bounced against what was given to our local MS to prove a balance. For the online/gofundme, it was much easier because you tell gofundme what charity to send the money and they take care of all of it directly. As for raising funds for your display personally or anything like that, we chose to stay away from that for legal reasons. We did not in any way be construed as a business or personal nonprofit or anything that might have legal or tax implications. Script for PSA is also here now (2020 version). over 50,000 but no I don't have an exact count - lost count several years ago as I kept adding props :-)

Thank you. For us, it was a year around hobby but we started set up in earnest usually in late August. I had a pretty horrific fall last November and we have since stepped away from the hobby (and even moved 4 hours away from that location).

Can you tell me more about your rainbow arches length of strip and size of your tube I was just designing one for my self and then I seen yours exilant job

2" HDPE from McMaster-Carr and 30 pixels/m strip from Ray Wu. It's been several years but I want to say 9ft for the longest arch and then just inset/shorter for each subsequent. The model in xlights is 90 pixels, 85, 80, 75, 70, and then 65 pixels. Thanks.

Leaving Rebar sticking out of ground isn't very safe, If someone trips it will be a spear. On job sites it is an OSHA violation.

Thank you Shawn. I am a private property owner and my display is fully on private property. I am not a business and the edge of my property is clearly lined with lights to discourage trespassing. My intent is to entertain folks from the safety of their car or at least at a distance to be able to see the display - not for them to walk anywhere near any of the props whether those props are held up with rebar (very dangerous) or zip ties (also dangerous when ends are clipped). As for me and my family, we understand the risk we are taking and have been doing this since 2013 (rebar sticking out included). Thanks again - I do appreciate those that can follow those regulations in the businesses they choose to operate.

@@bentonvilleheartlites No problem, Hope nothing ever happens! If people trespass, and if it does, you will probably still be liable, Have to love the law :(. I am always paranoid someone will do something stupid while I am not home, when my display is running and get sued. I've had kids run through it knocking stuff over, and people going into it for pictures. The OSHA reference wasn't implying you were a Business, just stating it is a known safety issue (and easily fixed). Thanks for the tour of your display, always looking for ideas to adapt for my own display.
