I am just learned about a parrot in New Zealand. I am over 70 and here in America we used to see lots of documentaries about critters outside of the lower 48 states. Not much about our own though. So, why did I not hear about a flightless parrot that also is the largest known parrot? I saw one documentary on KZfaq recently about parts of Russia’s wilderness and it blew my mind. The little we see of Russia is usually the one major city, forests, and snow. Lots and lots of snow. Except for the Steppes. There they focus on the cultures rather than the wildlife or geology. There are large areas of South America where hominids still rarely go. Some local tribes might but they do not take outsiders. Documentaries, real ones, generally feature the same things others have over the last 80 years or so. They are only really seen in the countries where they speak the language of the narrator. In America there may be documentaries in Spanish on our Spanish only stations. I can now only count to 8 in that language so I don’t watch. I did watch a lot of S. Korean broadcasts when I lived where two foreign languages religious stations aired those at night. Learned a lot because the bulk of the programs had been subtitled in English for us. With music it doesn’t matter but even I can not sit through listening to people talk when I do not understand a word. Sadly, I can not get that programming where I am now. Not even in an extra bundle for an extra price. And that is another reason why we often know little to nothing about other countries. Including any of their scientific and archeological discoveries. As well as their different critters and subcultures.

Nhu Tran it's called the fakeutis maximus dumassumus owl. They're endangered only 2 left in the wild. They're staple food are gummi worms and Easter eggs....
