what angers me is that Susan's call for help which was supposed to be her chance of survival, got her KILLED. the level of disappointment i have for everyone especially the police. bless her soul

This is one of those stories that just really makes you angry at all the authority figures who completely failed these victims.

The saddest thing about this to me is that Terry died aged 41… didn’t even get to live a full life, meanwhile her mother is alive in prison in her 70s… insane.

I read the book, apparently they had to peel Sheila off the floor, she had been left so long she just stuck there. That bit never left me. That poor girl, I can't even begin to imagine her pain and suffering.

Eligible for parole? The justice system needs the death penalty for that level of injustice.

That's such a shame that Susan got put through so much, poor girl. To add insult to injury, you don't typically have to remove a bullet unless it's in a problematic location (like near a nerve). She would've been better off if they didn't go digging for the bullet, but her sisters didn't know any better. They tried their best.

I find it so sad that Theresa managed to outlive Terry, who died in 2011 at only 41 years old (heart failure, I think). Cases with children tortured by parental figures are the toughest for me, and I don't even like kids or anything like it. I just think the unbearable loneliness and hopelessness of only knowing hate coming toward you must be the hardest thing to overcome.

why did the eldest brother leave and never think to help his siblings or check on them again?? the neighbors should’ve done something as well like get a wellness check or report the screams/gunshots/etc. this is such a poor investigation my heart goes out to the girls and the other children no one deserves that treatment or abuse.

Not calling, not checking in, not even a text!" - when the case is based in the 70s and 80s 😁 I caught it on another video and again on this one and I just laughed. this is exactly how my aunt, my blood aunt, treated her foster children over the span of 20 years. 12 girls, 2 boys. it started with a family of siblings, 2 boys, 2 girls. the youngest was only 4 yrs old and the oldest i think was about 12 when my aunt fostered them. they would constantly tell others how they were treated, but because they came from a family of dr*g addicts, everyone was told they were "troubled kids" and to not listen to them. including my own mother who said this to me numerous times over the years. the kids couldn't wait until they turned 18 so that they could leave my aunt's house. after the three older kids turned 18 and moved out, it left the youngest by herself and my aunt started fostering only girls after that. that youngest sibling was the first of 3 girls that ran away from my aunts house because they couldn't take it anymore, but was returned to my aunt and then began helping my aunt hurt these other kids over the years. but every single girl, was found and given back to my aunt...."troubled kids".... it wasn't until the last one that ran away in 2019 i think it was, that there was any real investigation done into my aunt. the girl that ran away was special needs and she ran to her older sister's house to escape. because of her, this nightmare finally ended.....almost. there was an investigation done on my aunt, she was arrested and put on a nearly 2 million dollar bond, and evidence was found of the horrible things she did to those girls. beds with no mattresses, but had handcuffs and duct tape on the headboard and footboards, human feces on the beds that had mattresses as well as smeared on the floor and walls, and the most horrible thing was the THOUSANDS of photos of these underage girls found on my aunt's computer. unfortunately due to covid, my aunt made bail and her newly married husband helped her. he was also blinded by what my aunt had done. because he had his own house, he NEVER went to my aunt's house.....which by the way was across the street from my grandmother....HER OWN MOTHER....who also had her older brother and younger sister living with my grandmother. and NONE of them knew this was happening either, they were forbidden to see them, which was fine for my grandmother because she never approved of my aunt fostering kids anyway and refused to accept them as her grandchildren, so no one knew what was going on, not even the neighbors around my aunt. anyway, no one knows what happened in 2020 or afterward because of the pandemic. and all of those children, who most are now adults with their own families, have no closure or redemption for what was done to them. all they have is an apology from the judge who told them "i am so sorry we failed you" meaning the whole child protection services. my mother told me that if i believed those "troubled kids" over blood then i was no longer family. so sadly on mother's day 2019, i cut all ties with my mom and her entire side of my family. i don't need or want that in my life....but it will forever haunt me and i will forever regret not standing up for those kids years ago.

It was so crushing to hear it straight from one of the victims who had to endure this torture for their entire childhood from someone who is supposed to love them unconditionally. This case has always affected me in such a way... Thank you so much Eleanor for telling this case with so much compassion and for doing such thorough research.

Robert got out of jail after 15 years, almost immediately in 2016 he was convicted of 2 accounts of possession of child pornography. HOPE THIS HELPS!

You should do a video on Judith Ann Neeley. She was a murderer around the Alabama area. She kidnapped 13 year old girl and completely tortured her. While they tortured her they put shot of cleaning products in her. Recently her attorney in her case wrote a book. In the book he said her case nearly ruined his life.

This case is absolutely horrific! It’s actually very similar to Sylvia Likens’. She was also severely tortured and eventually died at the hands of the woman who was supposed to be her caregiver. I will never understand people who can cause this much suffering on anyone, let alone a child! 😰 Another thing that just breaks my heart is the fact that Suesan had an adult who genuinely cared about her and her siblings at one point, even if it was for a short time. And then that was ripped away from them. Hope those girls are resting in peace! 🕊️🫶🏻

I appreciate your coverage of this story but you left out quite a few facts that I feel are very relevant to giving her victims their due respect,even in death.. I can remember how I cried the day I found out Terry died.. 😭 William's role was much greater than disposal,he took an active role in beating and punishing the other kids and while I can somewhat understand the impossible position he was put in initially,he was also given opportunities to save them and he didn't.. This is a story that will never be far from my heart because I am a survivor of horrific childhood abuse and I can unfortunately relate to so much of what they went through.. 😔

I have a different theory I think he stayed because he loved those kids and he knew that he was the only light in their life, not because he loved her.

Honestly, my mother tried to kill me. I had been living with her, after I became too ill to work. I had psoriatic arthritis and that was the end of employment for me, and she asked me to go and live with her for a bit. As soon as I got there I knew it was a mistake. She was absolutely seething. After 6 months, I had to run off back to London and try to get help. Nobody believed me. Nobody really cared. Essentially if you pitch up, you have no clothes because you've left them all behind, you are only one up from looking like a homeless person, you've run off, then for all intents and purposes you look like a lunatic. It was awful. 😥I went to the hospital because I still felt ill (she poisoned me) and the nurse promised a blood test would be done. But they lied and sent it off for a CBC which just checks your iron levels. 😖 About a week after I managed to get a proper test and there was arsenic present, but the doctor said it might have been from eating fish. 🙄😡 Well of course by that time there was not as much left after over a week since I'd been poisoned. It validated what I had said, but still nobody would take any notice. I could still cry about that. I had none of my clothes, only a few things I had managed to buy, so I didn't even look like ME. And all I had was a load of people treating me like a loony. The world really is very cruel!

I screamed in my head when you said they didn’t investigate the house fire. Post fire inspection would have shown an accelerant was used and that in itself is suspicious enough to warrant further investigation as to why someone intentionally tried to burn the house down.

My mom is like this woman in every single way possible and it's crazy to think that people wouldn't listen to Susan but, I've done the exact same thing and nobody listened and I was thought to be crazy, BTW IM SAFE NOW. The same thing that happened to Susan, happened to me. I tried to run away from home and got sent to a mental health facility. I told them that my mom was abusing me, and they didn't believe me because my mom is so manipulative she convinced them that I was delusional. That mental health facility was eventually shut down because it was such a bad place to go for children and teenagers.

I watched her son do an interview about her on Evil Lives Here. My jaw hit the floor so many times. My heart broke. These children are all warriors, especially Susan. Rest in peace🌹

I just don’t understand how that can happen to someone, let alone a child. It’s deeply disturbing.

I wish someone would do an in-depth video on Kelly Brannen. She went missing from where I live, Live Oak, FL. She was passing through and her and her fiancé got into a fight and she was seen getting into a truck. She was at a local Mexican restaurant that is known for putting GHB in girls drinks, over charging cards, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. They made a document on Paramount plus. They found her pet chicken at the restaurant cooks home. There’s still no arrests made. There’s been too many missing women or unsolved murders over here. This is a small town. This girl was so colorful and had stopped by the bar I bartend. The staff of Armando’s is barred from my bar. If anyone would do this story justice, it would be you, Danielle or Kendall without a doubt. Kelly Brannen is her name once again.

I had sepsis like Susan once (obviously from VERY different reasons) and I had to go to the hospital IMMEDIATELY. I survived (obviously) but I was very lucky to survive. The fact that Susan survived sepsis (plus all the other horrors that she went through) in those conditions shocks me! I hope she rests peacefully
