For a driver like this, I'd like to see Rick bring in a high handicapper and do a direct comparison between this and whatever their current driver is. Side by side simulator data would be interesting to look at, especially if they're using something 3+ years old.

The claims for 10k MOI are on off center hits with a perfect swing path. So if your swing path is 0 but you hit it 5cm out of the toe, it doesn’t twist as much at impact which helps the ball go straighter. But if you have an out to in swing path of 5 degrees and a face angle of 0, you will still slice it.

As someone who works in the industry and is privy to new club info. There are 10.5 and 12 degree options for the g430 max 10k. However when then demos were sent out for testing, only the 9 degree was available. So Rick could easily do a follow up video regarding adding more loft. All the way up to 13.5 if he wanted. I also have tested all the new driver heads for this year and the Ping was far and away the winner. I'm a bogey golfer who normally hits my drives 240 plus but I was getting 5-8 yards more with the lower spin on the 10k. Only 2 drivers that came close to adding that much distance were the Qi10 LS model and the Cobra Darkspeed X. But neither was as forgiving or straight.

Hi Rick. Just a thought. Maybe if you want to really have 'forgiveness' test, you can invite any 24 handicapper who is slicing the driver to test out these new the driver. Then we can see is there any difference 😂

Wow I am actually surprised after watching this. I have a G430 currently and I love it, granted to get the forgiveness I wanted I had to turn the loft up to 10.5°. I really was expecting this new G430 to do way better. With that price tag to I think I’d lead more towards the Qi10. Excited to watch the full comparison video with all the new drivers.

Fix your swing first, then think about the equipment. If you don't score lower than 80 with even a 2000-2010 equipment, I seriously don't see how buying the "next year" driver can help you. You're wasting money!!! Use it more wisely, pay a teacher friend, or a better one!

😊improving balance through your swing is just as effective for the average player. After watching Rick's video with Bryson (increasing ball speed) the huge thing I learnt from that video was Bryson pushing off his right foot (ball of his foot) towards his left heel unleashing all that speed with perfect balance. I went to the range and with my G425 max went to work on Bryson's foot balance. It works! I played a few days later at my local course and hit bomb after bomb. A high degree of straightness and 30-40 yards longer. The driver forgivness played its part when 1 came off the heel and another off the toe, shot right and left 50 yards off centre line but much better than bad misses with my "old" swing foot balance. I reckon the effect of pushing off my right foot base of toes towards left heel reduces the chance of my torso either falling forward or backwards to the ball and thereby a greater chance of finding the sweet spot on the driver face. So, balance first, club forgiveness second. Rick, will you be doing a follow up video on your ball speed to show your progress after your lesson with Bryson? ❤

Did my fitting and compared it to my G430 Max, the 10k was def more forgiving on mishits and I didnt lose as much distance with the 10k compared to the Max. The distance was about the same, I was getting a bit more distance with the 10k due to the roll out. I ended up ordering one because the numbers were just way too good for my swing. Great review, Rick!

@@todayforlunch3888 Also would like to know, but if you're buying a "max" model, you're usually not someone with screaming speed. Club tech does seem to be getting very incremental at this point. I do like my newer ping woods... (429 and 430) .. They are absolutely forgiving I swing 105 on a good day but generally 101ish at the moment, i have a lot of speed to pick back up (neck surgery destroyed my core strength, i'm still working on it and have a lot of room for "easy" gains still, so that 100 def is not "trying to swing out of my shoes" ... I'm very deliberate about form and not hurting myself sometimes that means 95-98 mph until i have core built back up. I'm playing for myself, not for money, so i listen to my body and take it easy if I feel at all like i could aggrivate muscle groups that i'm still working on gettting recovered.

For your forgiveness test, in my opinion it would make so much more sense to focus on toe/heel strikes with a neutral path on the launch monitor rather than just hitting towards a fairway and seeing what happens. Like you said, user error comes into play and the driver can only do what it's told.

I bought a Ping G430 max 3 wood and 7 wood in the last couple months. I’ve also been doing a lot of drills with swing plane and target line to make sure I have a somewhat fundamentally sound swing. I went with larger grips which I believe help me keep the face more square. How this all pertains to your comment is that I could see my ball marks after hitting on the face and I had plenty off center shots and also some pretty far out towards the heal and toe and saw minimal change in shot shape. Even the club felt solid on impact, if I hadn’t been able to see marks on the face I wouldn’t have known they were off center shots. So much happens in a golf swing it’s hard to say what is ever going on without real data but these are the best woods I’ve ever hit in about 10 years of playing. Still rockin an i25 for the driver though!

This is the problem with all the golf. All testing out there. It's done with a robot hitting the ball perfectly. They won't do golf ball testing on mis hit strikes and slow swing speeds because the supposed top ball won't fair well under those conditions

@@unloughfulgaming , I play low single figures and have for over 40 years, after a medical incident, needed to revisit my equipment. I still play stiff shafts, and according to my coach swing it well. My TSR doesn’t pop up with spin, the 430 was insipid, typical rear weighted club. Definitely had a poor fitting, actually it was just a sales exercise. I know others that say it’s a spinny driver, and why would Ping launch a new version after 12 months rather than their usual 24? It seems they focus on how the 10k spins less, says something.

Rick, you are clearly a well experienced and low handicap golfer, unlike some of us who follow you. So why not as a video trial, get 2 or 3 off the street golfers say 22+ handicappers, and get them to test the driver? That way we can see a more realistic result from acclaimed marketing by PING and other manufacturers , that make these somewhat unrealistic claims about their products.

im playing a titleist 917 D2 with 9.5 degrees of loft, even with it tuned with the hosel and the weight tube set to max draw it still slices from time to time, maybe taylormade were on to something with the SLDR at 16 degrees after all. would the fact it has an X stiff HZRDUS shaft and i only swing at a regular-stiff speed affect that too?

@rick Shiels Golf what's the difference between the moi of the previous generations? G430max, g425 max, and g410? Is it worth upgrading if you have a g410 or g425?

I like this sound the look of the driver and be the most easy to hit in the straightest. I am on board I never had a ping driver always wanted one. The price is too high for me though. Thanks, Rick.

So far I’d be interested in buying the new Callaway driver. Seems good if I wanted to leave my current Taylor Made Sim max driver. Curious to see you review the new Wilson driver I have heard some great stuff about it.

Higher MOI is great if you are missing fairways because you hit it a bit on the heel or toe, but its not going to help you fix that big outside in slice, or not having the clubface square at impact. If you struggle more with getting the face square, the other 430 with the movable weight with the draw/fade settings would do more for your game.

I bought a 16* SLDR head and used it to build a driver for my wife who just started playing golf last year. Amazing driver for her, gets the ball up in the air much better than the standard 12* that came in her first all-in-one sets.

Looks a little like my Calloway Rogue Max on the base ... and I think when you test a good comparison would be the 2022 Rogue MAX, I certainly wouldn't mind trying the 430 MAX with my Rogue ... always great to listen and watch to your videos 👍
