2:37 Speaking as someone with a Masters degree in Japanese Studies: GOGOON etc. are just onomatopoeia for "dramatic" or "explosive" sounds in Japanese which look weird to us due to Japanese phonetics and spelling. Equivalents would be BLAM, KABOOM, DUNDUN (you know, the dramatic "hit the piano" sound) and so on. Most Japanese sounds look weird to us and therefore should usually be translated. In Japan, cats go NYAN, frogs go GERO and violence fighters just go GOGOON I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (and yes, this is the most useful my degree has been in quite a while, thank you very much)

I remember growing up playing this at Time Out at the old Richland Mall in Johnstown, PA and when it first came out, you couldn't get near it because everyone wanted to play it. That being said, and I'll never forget this, I vividly remember some guy playing it one player and to say he was intense was an understatement. I remember him shouting at one point "I GOT DOGON!" Gotta love the old days of arcades.

The first screen of the ending is pretty much the video game equal of the card at the end of Miami Connection.

I remember playing this game when I was 11 years old, playing this game at a pizza parlor at the Jamaica section of Queens , NYC back in 1990. I cannot believe how jank this game used to be back then! Somehow I actually got better after beating my second born sister in a match. It was the first time she challenged me. But even before that, I was so bad at this game when I first started playing this game. This game brought back so much great memories because when my grandfather was alive, he was the one that took me to the pizza parlor located at 179th Street and Hillside Avenue where the E and F trains made the final stop at the subway.😁

When I was a kid, my grandparents would go to this old Mexican restaurant in Leucadia, CA (Juanita's.) They had this game for ONE week and got rid of it. I remember a scummy, gross and sex predator feeling character giving you like the bird if he won. Lick Joe. I was so happy to rediscover Violence Fight and I'm glad you could, too.

6:38 ah yes, the obscure game that no one believes exists... I have a kind of similar story. I think it was around 95 or 96, I was in vacation with my parents and the hotel had this arcade cabinet with Time Killers in it. I played a single game and was immediately decapitated. Thanks to a combination of terrible graphics and poor eyesight, I thought the UI, stage I played in and the characters in that game sort of resembled the ones in Street Fighter (I certainly confused the chainsaw-wielding punk for Guile). So I went back home and told everyone I knew at school that I had played Street Fighter III and that it featured weapons, blood and decapitations. In my childish mind, it made complete sense for Street Fighter's next iteration. Obviously, no one believed me :D

I know this comes very late, but if the power bar in this game works anything like the one in Taito's wrestling game, Champion Wrestler, you have to waggle the joystick and rapidly tap buttons to get it up. The power bar, I mean. I'm gonna try this on my totally legit arcade cabinet later.

There's actually an updated version of this game called Solitary Fighter. I don't know much about it, other than Tony Won being a playable character. I first learned of this game through Saltybet. For a while, someone would always request exhibitions of Tony Won and Ron Max versus whatever. It was called the Violence Fight World Tour.

Man, I have a similar story to yours, like, regarding about some arcade game you've seen ages ago but can't figure out which it was. I'm still not 100% sure myself, but I what I remember was some guy fighting a wolf, as in, the actual animal/creature, it was a 3d fighter, the stage was like a skyscraper's rooftop with the background being nighttime with other lit building and such. I remember the wolf winning and, like, showing it clinging to an helicopter's ladder before being brought up. For ages, I wondered what game that was, and eventually I think it had to be Ergheiz, as that helicopter thing does happen on one of those stages and there is a 4 legged wolf-like character there, but in my head, the wolf looked like a, well, regular grey wolf, and I remember the stage looking a bit more like Tekken 2's Hong Kong rooftop one, the background mostly, mh. Perhaps I'm just mixing things up, or I dreamt it all, no idea. Also, sigh, it's already sad that awful Konami had bought Hudson, now I get to know cancer Squeenix has Taito?? Sigh

"Dogoon" is actually the name of a training drill boxers would do in the 1940's. It would involve their trainer eating fifteen times the normal amount of fiber the day prior, and then doing a handstand in the gym, projectile shitting into the air, where the boxer would have to try and catch each nugget before it hit the ground. Very cool of Taito to reference it in their game.
