The problem is that both your true friends and your fake friends will till the truth when you are down. The difference is that the true friends will try to help you to find a solution and will enjoy your success. I went from overweight to extremely well trained and it was interesting to see how differently people acted on that. Some was happy for me and congratulated me. However a so called friend acted as nothing had happened and even tried to talk me down "you look tired as usual". That guy isnt my friend today.

As a kid growing up in the 1960's & 1970's, this is basically how our parents, teachers, coaches, etc. all talked to us. (With less intensity and obscenities of course.) But the message was the same. The world owes you nothing. You have to work for everything you want.

I want to say as a millennial, I really do feel soft and pampered. Thanks for reminding us what the past was like. Reflecting on it, people take notice when someone's gone beyond that comfort zone. And it feels good to do so. I am in and out of those two mindsets, and one day hopefully I will stay on the tougher side. I like fulfilling potential. I also surround myself with older friends who still live that way.
@dad4ever-c90

@@GG-bb1pj My kids are millennials too. It was challenging trying to raise them the way I thought was right, a kind of "tough love" approach. It seemed like every other parent was just giving their children everything, without making them earn it or even trying. In sports, for example, they didn't keep score and everyone was called a "winner." In life, we learn more from our failures than our successes. And kids need to learn that the world is going to demand that they put forth real effort. I respect your strength of character.
@someguy5035

That is how I raise my sons. No excuses. You make your own luck. You are exactly where you place yourself in life. Look in the mirror to see who is responsible for everything. I thought of all those who judged me,,the haters and the naysayers who negative bullshit used to keep me down. “Fuck what people think” 109 days of nonstop paddling, all the nights sleeping in mud...I persevered I beat that river, I beat the haters and brought our American flag down 2300 miles down the mighty Mississippi!! Great motivational video! This is my story, I had 320lbs 2 months ago. Then I started to eat clean and train at home, and it really improved my health. After 1st month I lost 7lbs, and after 2nd month I lost additional 13lbs. Now I have 200lbs and I am strongly motivated for more. Nothing comes overnight, don't forget that!! I found great online diet that I have followed for the last two months, which helped me a lot. The diet from Next Level Diet is really doing a nice job. And always remeber, no matter the exercise, if you do not exert yourself and give the body a reason to grow, it won't!

I don’t remember writing this at all. Holy crap.. I have changed my life SO MUCH. I’m 19 now and have built my own online eBay business that generates me enough money to consistently pay my expenses and put lots into my savings. I’m so much more healthy mentally and physically. I did a whole 180 around the time I left this comment and I’m so freaking proud looking back! If your reading this and you feel like your journey is about to begin, don’t wait! Start now! Start small, and fix minor things in your life. For me it was picking up water bottles in my room instead of letting them pile up, then folding my laundry immediately after the dryer instead of letting them sit in the basket for days. Then I worked my way up to learning new meals and eating better then to small beginner workouts. I made schedules that suited me. I made meal plans that I actually enjoyed. I put the effort into creating a job for myself that I would actually enjoy. Put the 100% into it right now. Today! Don’t stop when you get going. Hold yourself accountable! You deserve it!

I've worked out in my teens and twenties and gained and lost, gained and lost, gained and lost weight. I listened to motivational speakers before and got where I needed to go. But since being introduced to David Goggins 3 years ago, I took that motivation to an entire new level. After reading his book, I remind myself about those challenges. I even put the post it notes on my bathroom mirror. I'm 37 now and have been taking the David Goggins approach. Not just working out, but bringing that energy and positiveness to everyday life. I will NEVER go back to the way I was. Thank you Goggins. "Stay Hard"

I weighed 364lbs and reAdy to eat a bullet. Now I'm 278 and just getting started. I'm on fire EVERY FUCKING DAY and I'm just getting started. Four days ago I started the clock with myself on a two year timeline. I have a date with 26.2 miles and a finish line. I'm GOING to cross that bitch in tears with a picture of my brother on my shirt in his memory. It's the largest mental commitment of my life and he wouldn't have missed it for the world. He would have had a front row seat running along side me if he were still here. Hell he would have done it with no training while wearing vans, khakis, button down flannel, and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth while yelling loud inappropriate motivational lines all the way. I dream of a day where I meet goggins. I'll be crying like a bitch saying nothing but thank you. He carries the torch everyday down the dark path illuminating it for all the lost behind him. This man will never know how many lives he's saved.

Two small things i did differently this week: went to work different ways, and jogged the first time in 3 years, with a strapped up hamstring. I'm telling my mind: " you have NO pain, you have NO pain " You have to look at the challenges in life like they're your enemy, like they want to beat the hell out of you and make you a laughing stock. Only then will you turn round and mentally say: "F*** YOU! I'm doing this!" NEVER EVER give up! NEVER!

@@shadowrealm6 I tore it nearly 3 years ago, changing a tyre. I've had excruciating pain until recently: I started meditation, I started listening to Goggins' book "You can't hurt me", and listening to a guy called Joe Dispenza, and realised my leg had nothing wrong with it - it was just my pain circuits that were permanently switched on. Meditation, self talk, self motivation, and visualisation (Goggins mentions this) have been key in wiping out my pain, as has the attitude I've mentioned of saying a huge "f*** you!" to pain, and even everyday discomfort.
