Early testing indicates that Light-Paws is super duper strong (if a bit glass cannon-y) but really, really linear and "same-y." Still awesome, though.

Light Paws is severely underrated here. During my testing you could essentially build Aura Voltron and splash stax with the exact answers necessary for the current board state. She also triggers on curses which can be fun (Looking at you Overwhelming Splendor)

Dude, Tameshi has the noncreature restriction because it`s flavorful, moonfolks have always been known to manipulate lands, so he draws from lands returning to hand and Tameshi deals with artifacts and enchantments, so having him draw from all noncreature permanents (mainly enchantments, artifacts and lands) returning to hand makes sense. Only wish it wasn`t once per turn though.

Satoru umezawa seems to be extremely fun. I feel he deserves his spot in the a tier. He seems to be a casual to high powered commander.

Happy to see Greasefang not considered much of a threat, because I've fallen in love with the idea of a ratfolk motorcycle gang. I'm excitedly brewing this deck for flavor wins left and right, and actual wins accidental. I won't have to assure people that I'm just playing for fun when I reveal this general. Unlike when I went to make decks around just telling a lot of stories, or a hungry dragon who gets fat eating everything in sight, people suspicious when I tell them I'm not optimizing Chulane or Korvold.

I love Tameshi, Reality Architect as a commander but I so desperately wish it didn't said "only once each turn"

I still think its incredible how much he is underrating Tameshi as I proceed to crush on people with him in seasoned pods. He really seems to have not even tried to build him or think about him.

I really enjoyed playing with Kodama of the West Tree in a Hydra tribal deck. Since most hydras have some manner of pay X and get x +1/+1 counters on them, having acess to trample and ramp on the command zone is really nice.

Bit weird to put some of the Commanders that are so powerful that they're in currently in discussion for cEDH level decks in the B & C Tier.

Jin Gitaxias should be on S too,a well constructed deck around him could be the ultimate nightmare for opponents almost impossible to beat.

Something to consider with Soul of Kamigawa, if you drop a Bastion Protector or Avacyn, Angel of Hope, you can make SoK indestructible, and run a five color voltron deck around that.

Tameshi needs to be higher, he's still combo central, without the limitations he would be so broken

Tameshi in C? The second ability allows you return any Artifact or Enchanment lands and 0 mana value mana rocks back to play with with single white (ie. Lotus Bloom, Sol Talisman or Urza's Saga), and you can bounce lands like: Mystic Sanctuary, Halimar Depths or Emeria Sky Ruin back to your hand to use them again. Even with one white and one colorless you can bring back Sol Ring, Wayfarer Pauble, Expedition Map and/or Witching Well. And if you care about "How do I put more than one land to the table", there's always Walking Atlas, Archaeomancer's Map and Terrain Generator at your side. (Also side note, you can activate Tameshi's ability multiple times since no tapping is required) And if ever run out of lands, you can just pay 2 generic and 1 white to bring: Surveyor's Scope - which would always bring you 3 lands from your library. With enough setup and self-mill you could potentially setup a massive combo and have unlimited combo potential at your hands.

I'm surprised that Reality Chip isn't higher on the list. It goes infinite with sensei's divining top and an etherium sculptor/foundry inspector/jhoira's familiar

You're wayyy off on Tameshi, Reality Architect. Probably one of the strongest commanders in the set, he's part of a number of easy to pull off infinite combos including infinite turns, mana, storm count and landfall triggers all while acting as a source of recursion and card draw.

I want to see a matchup where someone plays with Myojin of Grim Betrayal against Mitch, uses Tyrite Sanctum to give it an Indestructible Counter, then win. Preferably after playing “You are Already Dead” to kill something like a Craterhoof, then using the Myojin’s ability to bring it back. Mitch would say “Nani?!” And his head would explode

The problem with Hinata is that 1, he is a kill on sigth target 2 when he is not around you will have a lot of useless expensive dead cards in hand. You have to be carefull how to build him if you focus way to much on these mana intensive cards you can end up like that. Use only the best ones the rest control and tax, Its a verry strong commander

One thing that you could do with Hidesuku that I don't see a lot of people talking about: You're in black/red, use steal spells to take your opponent's creatures, sac them away and scry tons.

Just did my first ever MTG draft, and on my second booster pack I opened I got a foil Kodama of the West Tree. I was already building a White/Green deck, so it was a fantastic pull. Since I had never played Magic before, I wasn't sure how powerful the card was until I asked about the card after the draft. Gonna be a good tournament for me (hopefully).

Reality chip has a bit more there than it lets it on. It and kaima are the two decks I'm actually building from this set. The reality chip I am taking it in a combo direction. Using Mana severance plus artifact cost reducers will let you make essentially mono blue storm. It's crazy good, typically going off and winning turn 4-6

Commander: Ishinn Must have: Raiyuu. They play off each other really nice. Ishinn decks are fun with so many attack triggers. But Ishinn and Raiyuu are a fun combo.

I feel like Jin Gitaxias is definitely S tier but only in the crazy high tier commander decks that can cast it turn one or two. There are a lot of situations where if he's in play you win the game or get crazy card advantage/mana acceleration super early and your opponents can't keep up. I had an Ulamog Ceaseless Hunger deck and I could get 11 mana setup on turn one to be able to cast it turn 2.

Junji, the Midnight Sky has a really cool combo. Conspiracy (naming anything other than Dragon) + Skullclamp + Ashnod's Altar

There’s a card you can use with risona that allows you to move that counter from her to another permanent I think it’s a land card too if I’m not mistaken

You can cast an aura that doesn’t attach to light paws, and then use the trigger to get one that does attach to them. Easy as that 🤷‍♂️

When you say mono color commander does that means it cant be used in a multicolor deck as a regular creature??

I would argue Myojin Of Cryptic Dream is the one sole Myojin who deserves C tier. it's in blue and with clones, you can get a copy of the Myojin of Cryptic Dreams with an indestructible counter for its effect as it came from your hand. WIth both Sakashima's, you can even ignore the legend rule (not completely with Sakashima the Imposter ig). With extra turn cards copied three times, I say C tier

I built a raiyuu deck, and it's half voltron & samurai/warrior tribal and half full swing cards. The plan is to use my commander on someone who has few creatures and get command damage through and then next combat swing into someone with the other creatures.

Can someone explain how Heliods Intervention can blow up all of an opponent's artifacts and enchantments for 2 mana when used with the Hinata commander? Bc I dont think it works the way this guy explains in his video.

Kairi is the only mono colored dragon in this cycle who can utilize TRUE clones. Mono red one can still use haste clone build. Kinda want to make that now...

Atsushi is a sleeper A tier Voltron commander. He can cheat commander tax with the treasures he makes or create card advantage on death. Being mono red doesn't hurt too much because of the sheer damage potential, and having flying and trample makes him hard to prevent that damage. Pair him with equipment, auras, and savage beating to go nuts.

Katsumasa being on the same level as Tameshi seems off, I would see them as D and B respectively, but everything else was pretty spot on here

Eddie definitely missed with light-paws voltron that in most cases get two auras each time you cast one builds up super quick turn 4-5 dealing 21 commander damage

Hinata to just TOO powerful. Friend made a deck and first game with it, he won by dealing 71 damage to EACH of us with one card. Another friend is so terrified by it he made a Gaddock Teeg deck just to counter Hinata and by extent made the game go to a standstill.

Enough with saying that dumb the myojjin outrage. They are callbacks to the original cards. You can always implement a house rule to make them "work," plus it's a cool restriction to circumvent: bounce them back to your hand or come up with some other workaround -- make them a secret commander. The whole point of this format is to be creative and to work around a particular card. I think these are great as is.

I don't quite agree with the placement of Heiko Yamazaki, given that the are plenty of uses for this card and ways to break it. But of course I blame Eddie for that.

I honestly feel like the mech belongs in s tier, it's going to make either a fantastic winconless stax commander or going down the iso rev or intruder alarm combo route, winning with some form of lab man effect. I honestly think it's just as strong as hinata, especially since it has a relevant card advantage engine ability stapled to it and it's rarely if ever going to I'd be a creature, allowing it to dodge alot of removal.

The thing with those myojin cards is that I think they made them like that to give a down side to it if you try to cheat it into play 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am surprised Shigeki is so low, especially with how you can play the enchantresses and always plus off him when he comes down. I agree he's slow, but he should be at least a B, since he comes down so early and ramps you every turn if you have haste.

Honestly I believe isshin should be up there at s-tier with Hinata. It's extremely powerful and has also caused multiple price spikes for old cards
