Prophesy in the Bible was actually what the Lord used through the Spirit to move me into belief from a compete hatred of Christianity. I can't help but to praise Him for all of the wonders in His word.

I learned this stuff as a high schooler in what had to be the coolest Bible class ever with Mrs. Mitchell. I understood what she was teaching and learned a lot about it. It's 15 years later that I am realizing the significance of these things on my faith as a Christian. Thanks for sharing Mike!

I see God giving these prophecies for many reasons..I reckon one of them being that during the time of silence, he wanted his people to know he is still around and in control..the age of the prophets is over, so to keep his people, he gave them fulfilled prophecies to inspire them, I’m sure, in the same way they inspire us today

I really enjoy the history aspect. It’s fascinating. Also it is confusing with all the people having the same names. I’m named after my uncle and I have a cousin named after my dad, it can get confusing at times with other people outside the family and even in the family too in regards to knowing who someone is wanting to talk to/ get that person’s attention. I also believe that skeptics and atheists are in a sense believers, they just have belief in their skepticism and non-belief.

I've always called myself a Christian, even though I didn't live like one. And it wasn't until I started really getting into these evidence claims that I really realized that I wasn't living right and that I believed more of a pseudo Christianity than the Christianity. I'm thankful for guys like Mike Winger, Hugh Ross, William Lane Craig, James White, David Wood, and the countless other apologist that have turned me to the true God. I still have my struggles but I hate my sin and I've come a long way by the grace of God.

The first amazing verse I found when I began translating the OT, was Isaiah 45:11 "…Thus says YHWH-Holy-One-of-Israel-and-his-Creator to you(p): … concerning the work of my hands: You(p), command me. (Also Isa 42:8-9; 45:11,19; 48:3-7; Jer 33:3; Amos 3:7, 4:13) There's 50 English translations, and half of them are similar. But the other half range from evasive, to bitterly sarcastic; they didn't like the idea of commanding Yahweh. First of all, that's what it literally says. But 18:3-4 says, "Unless you be as a little child, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven"; and any little child commands his mother when upset or when curious, sometimes so loud that he can be heard from one end of Walmart to the other. I spent hundreds of hours combing through scriptures with a search engine looking for pros and cons; finally I surrendered and said, " Look, Yahweh, the prophecies are YOUR words for us, so I command you to TELL ME WHAT THE BOOK OF DANIEL MEANS!" Of course I was afraid and nervous, but I did it anyway. I had sifted through so much instruction by so many prophets that I was maybe more afraid to NOT command him. After all, unless you are totally blind as Isaiah 6:8-12 says, he's commanding us to command him, and that's very, VERY clear. He hates it when we are stubborn and don't listen to him, so I'm not going to rebel to his face. I have no desire to blindly believe; I want proof, and if he can create a trillion galaxies with billions of suns and planets, he surely can do this. I like science, and I'm naturally skeptical, but he gave me plenty of proof; and a week or two later, I found myself at night with four of his very friendly , smiling messengers at a certain location 600 miles away where they rescued me a while back. They were overjoyed that SOMEONE finally listened and obeyed the instructions in scripture. They cautioned me to avoid all the learned commentaries on Daniel; it's true that they all are worthless. I could research history, Hebrew grammar, and geography because those were "Earthly", but sacred, holy knowledge could never come from our "wise ones", i.e. the sages, scholars, etc. That was 7 years ago, and for months they would take me out to that starry, quiet place down south and tell me all about Daniel; then about other prophecies, and awaken me with a heavenly voice or other similar sound. So, I know all about prophecies, end times, antichrist, etc, etc. It isn't cheating because I inquired of Yahweh who wrote them. But academic studies of sacred knowledge is like asking a fish about bicycles; humans know nothing but foolishness about higher matters; as Jesus says, sacred knowledge is hidden from the wise, but it's given without end to the childlike, open-minded ones who inquire of Yah-Yahweh. ("Child' refers to the mind unencumbered with preconceived notions and formalities and such; it has nothing to do with age.)

Mike conveniently doesn't mention 11:42 where Daniel's prophesying goes false. Why does Daniel make startlingly accurate prophesies and then suddenly make false ones? It's clear. These portions of Daniel were written after the events took place. When he actually tried to predict what would happen at the end, he got it wrong.

Well this prophecised up to about the time it was written, keep up the validation of your beliefs.

The issue I have with this passage - the King of the North is always a Seleucid King, while the King of the South is always a Ptolemaic king. Then, to avoid non-fulfillment in the later verses, these kings have to be kings of some other dynasties. It seems like cheating to me to suggest this - and I think this is one of several good reasons to believe Daniel was compiled ( not written in its entirety) around 165 BC. I've looked at the reasons some scholars use to suggest a 'gap' starting around verse 36, and most of these reasons are questionable, or start out assuming the truth of Christianity from the start.

Wow, talk about motivated reasoning... Would be great to have prophecies for stuff that actually happened after our first copies of these texts. Otherwise all of it can be chalked up to embellished "copying" after the fact, can't it? I mean what's a few hundred years on the scale of God's eternity? Why is it that all the prophecies are all within a couple of hundred years of the ostentatious "time-of-writing" of these texts?
