The most talented 8-year-old in the world right now - Bodhana Sivanandan

Bodhana Sivanandan recently participated at the World Cadets under-8 Rapid and Blitz 2023 in Batumi, Georgia. The girl was the top seed and she managed to score 11.0/11 not just in rapid but also in blitz, winning both the events with a gap of 3 points over the field. That's how talented this girl is. Bodhana's parents are from Tamil Nadu in India, but the girl is born and brought up in the UK. She represents England. In this interview IM Sagar Shah analyzes two games with Bodhana, one from the rapid and the other from blitz at the World Under-8 Cadets 2023. The youngster is also posed with a few positions to solve on the spot. It’s amazing how she can come home and replay her own games and analyze them in a PC all by herself at such a young age. Even gave this whole interview herself. Shout out to you Sagar for arranging this sit down with the young legend.

@24:15 The plan is Re7 followed by Rae8 and Nc7 planning Be4 achieving a better minor piece situation. That is astonishing chess insight for an eight-year-old who is very new to this. Brilliant talent, in my opinion. What a charming and likeable young girl, too.

Spent like an hour on that Bishop endgame study… couldn’t see the King blockading idea at all. I was like Bd4 Bxd4, what have I accomplished… :/ the rest were easy/famous. For an 8-year-old she’s extremely impressive. If only every kid was this brilliant…

@charkoal8071 I think someone there before me said that Roman Shogdzhiev is better than Bodhana. Personally, I think that Bodhana is better because it gains the classic rating faster and it is very difficult to obtain. But kids this age have huge fluctuations in ratings and we don't know it yet. Much also depends on whether she will play open in the future, as this will further improve her rating.
