My ancestors came from Germany. I would love to try to make these with my grand daughter. They look easy and delicious.

i just made these last night, I'm used to making an Americanized recipe using brown sugar but I like these very much! They taste very European, I used dark chocolate and I love them. Thank you for sharing with us. I plan on making your Linzer cookies tonight, wish me luck!

My Omi (my mother’s mom) and I baked these every Christmas. Now my mom (Oma) bakes them with my kids. We call them spritz cookies , but also “poops” cookies, because when air gets caught in the dough and you squeeze it out, it sometimes makes that sound. My son hates that name.

These cookies look fantastic- I will definitely be trying these out when I get myself a piping bag. I recently tried your recipe for Heidesand cookies and they were absolutely delicious! You were right, browning the butter makes a big difference to the taste I have made several batched and cut them into star, circle and icicle shapes in my freezer ready to be baked and given as gifts for Christmas ☺️ Thanks for all your wonderful videos ! 🌺🌼🌻

We have these in the round form in Portugal and they are called “alemães”, which translates to Germans. Fitting! Awesome recipe as always. Ours are sans chocolate. I always ask my family to bring me some ( contraband) when they visit!

Please note that I am saying the amount of butter wrong, it's 220 g of butter (or two butter sticks) - unfortunately I can't change that in the video now.

Finally! A very tasty, easy, and goof-proof recipe! I used a cookie press and they turned out beautifully. Thank you! One thing I did notice is the press makes the dough a little more dense so I did need to bake an extra 3-4 minutes. First batch was underdone but once I added the time they were perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe. It's our new go-to spritz! Merry Christmas!

Quick question for you are you adding 280 of grams of butter, as stated in your video or is it 220 g of butter stated in your recipe, thanks

You say 1 egg and one egg white, but obviously you mean egg yolk. I'm glad I read your comment about the correct weight of butter - 220gr instead of 280gr. Thank you for your recipe. I love how the cookies keep their original shape.

I didn't even know these were German ! But I'll give them a try for sure ;) I baked Brezn recently and my (Bavarian) boyfriend was surprised by how good they tasted so thank you for your recipe !

My Mom and Oma used a pastry bag. I’ve had a regular cookie press and an electric. Their cookies were always so much better! I will be trying your recipe, thank you for sharing. Happy and joy filled holiday wishes to you and yours.

@@flamingpixi5667 I use both a pastry bag and cookie press. We always make cookies for the Senior Center & Nursing Home & I must make so many I use the cookie press for those. It's just important to not over bake those so you have a tender cookie. I also split the dough and add a bit of food color paste so I can make green 🌲, red sleighs, green wreaths, and some dipped in white chocolate, some in milk chocolate. The young group from our church make coffee, hot cocoa, & tea and do the serving. Learning what Christmas is all about.

Wir haben die jedes Jahr zu Weihnachten gemacht. Sehr Viele Kekse gebacken. Meine Mutti liebte Zitrone. Sie nahm die Hälfte der Mischung und fügte geriebene Zitronenschale hinzu. Ich habe es geliebt, die Hälfte des Kekses in dunkle Schokolade und fein geriebene Haselnüsse zu tunken.

My German mother-in-law made Spritz every Christmas. When she passed away, I searched everywhere for her recipe without success. Hilda’s Spritz were pistachio. How would suggest I incorporate finely ground pistachios? (Who knows, maybe Hilda just added green food coloring and sprinkled ground pistachios on top?)

Thank you for sharing your recipe. This is the first time I see cornflour used in Spritz cookies. Do you use it so that the cookies don't spread? I actually made a batch using a similar recipe today, but though I didn't use baking powder, the cookies expanded...

@8:22 The correct pronunciation is, “Reeeeth” Reeth...for Wreath. You don’t pronounce the “W”. The “ea” gives a long eeee sound, like week. So, wreath would rhyme with the name Keith. I hope that helps you! Merry Christmas sweetie!!

These look awesome. I got here from looking for recipes for my Spritz Cookie Tool. I am wondering if you think your dough would work in the tool or better to use a piping bag? Thanks!

I don't have a Spritz Cookie Tool but I know a lot of Germans do have one. You might want to use a little less or more flour to adjust the consistency of the dough to the tool. Maybe try with my recipe as is with a little bit in the tool and add either more flour or a little liquid to adjust.

Are these like a soft shortbread? Also, because they look quite moist, do they go stale quickly when stored in an airtight container. I would have them sprinkled in sugar or half chocolate.

Not sure but I think shortbread is somewhat like this. The cookies don’t go stale fast in an airtight container ... but then again, who would not want to eat them right away? 🤷‍♀️

Hi are your cookies melty soft or just delicate fall apart but not pillow soft? My neighbor's mother made these year ago they're Italian. I've never been able to find a recipe to match those cookies. I have tried so many of the Spritz recipes they're pretty much all the same yours is different but they don't look light in color and pillow soft melt away in the mouth at all. I've wasted so much ingredients I just don't want to give these a try, I thought I would ask you first. Thax

They are delicate fall apart, not pillow soft. Sorry, I can‘t help you with what you‘re looking for.

Is 320F really the temperature? My other spritz cookies call for a 400F. When I made your recipes they came out of the oven in flat blobs. They were piped, and everything else went smoothly. Personally, I bake a lot of cookies, several dozen a week.

I really bake it at 320°F and I don't have any issues. But someone pointed out that I mention the butter wrong in the video? I haven't checked the video, yet, but it has to be 220 g of butter (as stated in the printable recipe). Maybe that's what happened? Also, I am using a convection oven, that might make a difference, too. I'm sorry your cookies didn't turn out perfectly, I hope you will try again.

I wouldn't unless you want your Spritzgebäck to taste salty. But those cookies are so delicate, they shouldn't taste salty.

I was also going to use some of your other recipes but I couldn’t get the tab for US measurements to work on those either. I’m very dissatisfied with trying to use your recipes. 😢

Hi Syble, I'm sorry to read that you are having this trouble. I've looked into it and while it works perfectly fine on my computer, it indeed doesn't work on my iphone or ipad. This might be a new problem since you are the first to tell me or nobody said anything. I have contacted the software company that I pay for this recipe plugin but their answer might take some days and I guess you want to bake NOW. Please use the contact form mygerman.recipes/contact/ and shoot me a short message, so I have your email address (it won't be visible to anybody else then) and I will send you the recipes you need with the US units.
