No the best is swadian knights. In fact there's really no point of having any other troops except for a few archers. Sometimes I'll get housecarls cuz their cool. But swadian knights are so op, once you get a certain amount of them you can't lose a battle

Just take a small strike force of huscarls, small enough to outrun the dangerous khergit armies, and take all their cities. 10 to 15 should be enough.

And then you learn about cheats... and after you do that... you just wanna fight.

I go swadian knight, vaegir guard, and rhodok sharpshooter. The vaegirs don't have the best infantry but you can get a shit ton of them and level them up real quick for cheap. Plus after your cav has bulldozed all the enemy cav you just hammer the enemy infantry using your guards as an anvil. Or just go all Swadian Knights and Khergit horse archers and ride circles around everyone.

Caden Dugger Vaergirs are better for bow archers, but yes, that does sound good. Once you have strong cavalry, you can bulldoze the enemy army, unless it's Rhodok spearmen, in which case..uh...Well, you're doomed.

Mercenary cav + mixed troops of other factions that are destroyed = OP Also I meant mixed troops as in cav, archer, and inf. wise sometimes I do it that way. I'm mostly Mercenary cav, Khergit veteran lancer, and more cav lolz tbh they mixed pretty well.

Warband is like a tutorial, Try some mods like Brytenwalda / Prophesy of Pendor / Perisno the real fun and challenge begins there.

here is the full strategy : GOOD LUCK READING !! 1/ character build: enough AGI to ride armored horses/ max STR / the rest CHA ( leadership+prisoner management ) 2/ early game :A// GO SUPERMAN!! find the melee bandits of the game or the ones with the least ranged units ( in warband: sea raiders) ride around them in circles until they run out of ammo (if a sea raider hits you with an arrow , don't go crazy !!" i will kill that dude now !!" chill , light a cig and wait until they waste their ammo) then 2handed mace and have fun : get prisonners /gear/xp .( if melee bandits are knights ride in circles /quick turn left or right /dodge the swing/hit the horse / once unhorsed they become sea raiders). Buy enterprises in every town. fight alone no recruits no companions just income no expenses. after building eco and stats , recruit companions and train them by fighting bandits. then become a vassal . B// if the mod has enhanced fighting or OP ranged like elves in POP or like floris or new dawn where ranged never runs out of arrows. fuck superman GO BATMAN!! trade and build your eco then the military then become a vassal! C// floris /gekokujo/new dawn/brytenwalda ...don't bother just enlist in an army GET MONEY GET STATS ! 3/ vassal: don't start fighting until you have 60+ heavy cav or whatever op unit in your mod/ if the marshal calls you for the compain go say hi to him , get + 1 relation with him then tell him to fuck off , don't run around with him and waste time // fight only in open terrain battles no mountains no rivers no hills// don 't fight in sieges (useless for now)// then defeat the enemy faction's whole army , one party at a time NEVER ENGAGE IN A BATTLE YOU CANT WIN BE PATIENT!!/ if you defeat the whole army then if you want you can siege,but i dont do it as a vassal// refuse every fief offered by your king , accepte max 2 towns preferably the two wealthiest( no villages no castles just be patient) in warband (even if im king) i accepte only NARRA wealthiest + DHIRIM i m the only one who can defend it in game and when garrisoned properly (200+ vaegir guards because ai will attack 50 huscarl garrison and not 200 VGs same logic apply for other mods) dhirm is as a good as narra in income. of course in mods it depends, ask guildmaster or wiki to know the best towns / but 2 towns max// once you have a town, garrison it fully (200+) with cheap high tier infantry VGs ( don't defend in sieges for your town unless you have a lot of heavy inf garrison + your army !! let them get it, you can have it back later. don't lose your men and the battle for nothing) // then put your cav in garrison and build an army of archers// the archers army is for sieges/ the cav army for open battles (no cav+archers mix , one army in the field the other one in the town)// companions:: have a tracker /a healer/ an engineer+ tactician / the rest all heavy melee cav with crush through 2H+1H +SHIELD+SHIELD all their stats go to STR// NEVER MAKE COMPANION VASSALS ITS A WASTE OF TIME. 4/king : recruit only good natured vassals with the best stats: Kumpia, Dundush, Bilya ... ( use morgh's to know about their stats)/ then rule as you see fit . GENERAL TIPS: don"t fight on foot/ don't use bows (waste if skills) use crossbows/ swing from the left on horse back you can see you opponent better , from the right you character will cover the screen / when vassal only use units form your faction (morale) / if your army is defeated and your alone against 500 , be patient , run in big circle (less dammage from arrows to horse) kill horses that chase you, wate for ammo to run out then wate for him to swing at the air then swing back with crush through weapon , be carefull for map edges ( this doesn't apply for fights agianst khergits or mounted elves their horses are two fast you can't manoeuvre against fast horses ( i can) and avoid shots from arrows at the sam time JUST SURRENDER EVERYONE FUCKS UP SOME TIMES), two handed axes or maces are the best weapons on horseback not lances. with this strategy you will lose a battle once a week ( real life time) if you press ctrl+space too much// yes i tried all the mods // yes you read all of this because of a video game :)
