The MUST HAVE Distance Learning Tool for Middle-School Teachers

There are lots of problems when it comes to distance learning.
One of the tools that has solved so many of the tech, time, and engagement problems I've had is the Stream Deck.
It's a dock with a bunch of programmable buttons that can do anything you want on your computer. Open up multiple websites or apps at one time, have a variety of common things you have to type ready to paste at the push of a button, and of course, sound effects.
In this video, I walk through how I've set up my Stream Deck to help me teach during distance learning.

I teach middle school math and run the TV Production elective. Having this would make starting class so much faster! Thanks for running down everything, super easy to follow.

Awesome! Yeah I’m still figuring out the best way to manage profiles. I have a profile specifically for when I’m teaching class and one for when I’m just working. I had the class profile automatically switch on when the Zoom app was open but then found when I was bouncing back and forth between my browser and Zoom, my screen options were changing so now I just have one button on there to switch between the two profiles which works a little better.

Very good ideia. I was looking an free app for do it for a while. But saving money for this is a good investment. Thank you for sharing

Awesome! You could also try out the Stream Deck app and see how you like it. I haven't used it before but it looks equally powerful and less money ($3/mo).

Can I use this gadget to upload links to a schoology/Google classroom for multiple periods??????

That would be magical. It can hold onto a variety of things you want to paste (including links) but I don't think there's a way to get it to actually upload to multiple websites and class periods unfortunately :(

Hi . I annoyed my teacher by telling him about how much I hate Math so he challenged me to write a 500 word essay about why I love math (which is know is a bit random seeming as I hate it) however I accepted this challenge . Please can you tell me some good reason to like Math .

Ok, I have to ask, how do you get your sound effects to play in Zoom? O've been trying, to no avail. I've been advised I need a program that acts as a virtual soundboard, but can't figure that out either. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

Hey Khalil. Don't feel bad, it took me a while to figure it out and I have a degree in audio engineering! If you have a PC, there's a free virtual soundboard called voicemeeter. It's got a pretty steep learning curve it took me a while to get mine dialed in correctly.
