For his 40th Birthday John Lennon was given a Patek Philippe 2499 by Yoko Ono. The December after his birthday, John Lennon was murdered, and the fate of the watch was unknown. This video traces its whereabouts! “The Case of the Purloined Patek!"

Hello Bill Fantastic and intriguing watch story! The Patek 2499 is such a desirable piece in itself, and then you add JL etc. at autction with all the stars aligned my guess 15-20 million watch especially if the proceeds going to a good charity just my guess. Great video cant wait for the conclusion.

Perry, the Beatles are far better known than Paul Newman; so you never know how much someone is willing to pay for a watch, especially one so much better than a Daytona. Take care, Bill

@watchartsci my point is no one equates expensive watches to Lennon. So regardless how popular he still might be, it will limit the appeal. But who knows n maybe one day we will find out.

it is complicated, a missing watch since 2005 and was not reported missing ?! could happen for careless people with millions of dollars to spend in nonsense. but for famous people their legacy is kept under good care and must be classified as they represent a fortune . this is definitely done buy lawyers and business managers of whome inherited that legacy , so my opinion is it was not stolen.
