Believe it or not, this was a real story posted to r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk! Wanna know something even crazier? In the original story, Mr. Harris had his GIRLFRIEND with him and she also claimed there was no bathroom in the room! How WILD!
What do you think of this skit? Please let me know! Did you notice a new editing trick I finally figured out? 🤩 I'm so excited to use this new skill for future videos!
If you have a story of your experiences working at hotels, or just in customer service in general, please share it with me! I may even make a skit out of it! 😉

Ok. This is so funny. My mother and I went on vacation and just before getting there we got an update from our travel agent that our expected room was being worked on and we had actually been moved. We get there, and the place is big, but it's like a living room. Chairs, couches, tv, but no bed. We look around and see the couch is pullout and mom is like "well, we did get this room really cheap. Maybe this is just how it is." So we got all settled in and have some lunch and stuff. Realized we'd need pillows for the pull out so we go looking in closets and I opened one and it wasn't a closet. It was a whole other giant room with two queens in it. We genuinely laughed until we cried while closing up the pullout.

@@NoBudjetFilms Yeah. I knew suites existed because I watched TV shows like Remington Steele and Charle's Angels as a kid, but I'd never seen one. The closest I've ever been are the couple times we stayed in a cabin. Once on a trip to Itasca and the other on a trip to Duluth. Even the one time I stayed at a *fancy* hotel for an anime convention was just a room. With marble tile, actual hardwood furniture, and *no cable.* The wi-fi sucked, too. And I had to *pay for breakfast!* I got better service in places that charged 90 bucks a night and hadn't changed their bedspreads in 30 years.

Right! You do a quick run through. The last thing you want is to be sitting on the toilet and find out they forgot to replace the toilet roll. Or checking for extra blankets in cold weather areas. There are certain cultures in which it is considered rude to leave the bathroom door wide open. They do not want to enter the house (or hotel room) to be greeted by the sight of the commode. However, even there, they tend to leave the door half open, so that you know the room is not in use.

At the hotel I managed, we had a room on the third floor that we used as a meeting room. It did have a small bathroom with a toilet and sink, but no shower. Only twice, in 8 years did we rent it out as a guest room (during conventions, when checking in guests that begged for a room, any room) and we provided extra toiletries so the person staying in the room could take a "sponge bath." We also put a portable bed in the room. On one of those two occasions, the guest actually had us remove the portable bed, very early, so that he could have a meeting in the room (go figure). On the other occasion, it was two schoolgirls (a 747 had emergency landed at an airport and needed to overnight for repairs), so the hotel was filled to capacity (a rarity on a Friday night) with a plane load of English schoolgirls.

HIlarious! It's nice to see a story that just has (both of) you bursting out laughing at the end. Great job on the elevator and room backgrounds.

Made me remember my last time on a cruise ship! Loving to see idiots I found a place near the customer service desk. One of the highlights was when a lady came and asked when the midnight snacks would be served!

Never had anything this extreme, but my heart sinks every time we get bad reviews based on problems that could have easily been solved if they had just talked to the front desk.

100% this is what we do the moment you're gone or out of sight. I literally had a very similar situation but it was with a patio. The lady was upset because her room was supposed to come with a patio and she couldn't find it so I ended up having to go up there. She mockingly said see no patio. Only for me to open the large curtain to reveal a door out to the patio.

And why not just go ask the front desk people about it instead of email HR?? Hahahah 🤣🤣🤣 I bet he felt like an idiot when they opened the bathroom door and he walked in 🤣🤣🤣
