I miss dragons, they really add to the fantasy of the world. Was also sad that they stripped the aspects of their power removing them from most plots, with the exception of corrupting/killing Ysera in Legion.

I've fantasized about The Dragon Isles for literally near 14 years ever since wow model/world viewer came out. It was a legend alongside the Emerald Dream. 14 year old me would be so fucking stoked right now it might be finally happening.

For a dragon themed class I can see the dragonsworn being a thing. In the lore dragonsworn are mortals that pledge themselves to a flight and are bestowed powers for doing so. Alternatively they could have us straight up be a dragon and the race we choose is our "mortal form. In both cases this would be a new hero class that comes with draconic customization options

My nostalgia bone is being tickled by all this Twilight dragon talk. And wow, it has been more than 8 years since Cataclysm's launch, when I last heard of them.

I seem to recall that maaaaany years ago there was a comment from Blizzard about The Dragon Isles being the place where N’Zoth was sealed away.

Theoreticly Blizzard could make an entire expansion based on the Dragon-Isles and the different Dragonflights. (after all, Wrathion has been planning something for a while.. and Nozdormu will go mad eventually) Imagina if the 3rd faction, or just the next race of WoW would be the Dragons, and the race consists of the different species of dragons with each having it's own unique racial-abilities. Blue-dragons are better at arcane, Red dragons are better with fire or speed, Yellow dragons would be able to slow or freeze enemies in time, Green-dragons could put other's to sleep and use it to stun enemies or heal allies or themselves, Black dragons would have increased strengh and stamina, maybe more armor as well.... And each race or rather species would have it's own theme and values and it's own little island that could serve as the starting zone. (Blue Isle, Red Isle, Green Isle..you get it) And if Blizz doesnt want a third faction, just do the same as with Pandaren? Have the dragonlings go through a questline that ends with us DECIDING which faction we want to join. (i'm aware this might not make sense in terms of lore... why would dragons join the 2 factions? they are dragons, they are only loyal to themselves.) But hey, it's just wishful thinking. Also, i really want to learn about the origin of the dragons/proto-dragons. "they evolved from elementals" yeah...sure.... how ????

Putting Dragons in BfA would be a waste. The Dragon Isles need their own expansion. I would like to see the dragons be both mount and playable race.

BTW guys, hear this, if you look at where the Dragon Isles are, there's a squid on the world map right where they should be! Also look at the concept art for the Dragon Isles, it looks like the same squid. Blizz *might* have marked them on the map anyway as a future plan!

The Dragon Isles would be some interesting content. Since we know next to nothing about them, Blizzard could do whatever story they want with them. Of course we want to see Wrathion again. It was he who warned us about the Legion's return, but he never showed up in Legion (the Deaths of Chromie scenario doesn't count). But there's also room for more stories.

What could be hinted here is a dragon themed expansion with dragons as a playable class. That would be interesting

Seems to me the dragon isles could have enough content for an entire expansion. I mean they could easily build an entire expansion around dragon lore and dragons all "waking up" and teaming up to help us fight against the void. 🤨

The redemption of the black dragon flight and the restoration of the aspects would make a great story if not an entire expansion.

I think it'll be the next expansion location, to be honest.

I hope they do more with the Dragon Isles. This would be a perfect means of getting the dragons back in the story and dealing with the elephant in the room -- the dragons are having issues breeding and are dying out. Why? No one knows. No one has talked about researching things to stop it and revitalize the flights. I hope that the Dragon Isles becomes a large focal point for this kind of problem. The twilight flight wants to find it and corrupt it for the old gods. Wrathion wants it because he wants to bring back the black dragonflight. The other flights want it so they can bring back their own flights from the brink of extinction, but they don't trust Wrathion, and they're worried about corrupted adventurers.

Josh "Lore" Allen back in the day on his weekly marmot has broadly discussed both Azshara and a Dragon themed expansion. There were many intellectual properties protected at the time by Blizzard which is why his discussions started on this. Later he joined Blizzard and took all the content off. He was not involved in the content or story for sure as at the time he was simply covering patents and leaks as you do here yourself.

this is a perfect opportunity to potentially get their powers back from something ancient on the isles. we shall see, but i hope they do something with it, even if we have to wait

For me the most interesting thing about the Dragon Isles was always that there weren't explicitly any dragons there. I loved the idea of it being these creepy deserted islands of Old God Temples like R'lyeh. I hope Blizz don't just stick a load of Twilight dragons on there for Cataclysm 2.

I wonder if the WoW devs who are still left remember that Sabellian still exists in old Outland.

If they decide to put the DI back into the game, then hopefully, it'll be in that one mystery zone that you can't get to without exploiting.

I wonder if they might revamp Grim Batol. Make it into a larger dungeon or a raid possibly. They could revamp the whole Twilight Highlands, and possibly the Wetlands as well.

I may not play the game anymore but I still get invested in the Lore and God damn it I fucking called it. I know a lot of other people have to but it wasn't the most popular opinion that wrathion might come back as a villian.

If its like Mechagon it will do the legacy and mystery of The Dragon Isles raid no justice I feel, but it makes the most sense to make it something like that.

Seems like this could and should be more of an expansion not a patch. Maybe post BFA the dragon flights see both the Horde and Alliance weakened from battle and decide to attack either by joining forces or splitting up and one flight of dragons attacking horde and another flight of dragons attacking Alliance with a raid that includes the Horde "teaming up" with the dragons attacking the Alliance and vice versa. So the Horde would fight an Alliance boss between attacks of the dragon's breaths. If the Horde doesn't move out of the line of fire in time, it's death or the dragon attacking can be used as either an enrage timer or deathblow to the boss.

A new dragon race/class would be fun. Hopefully they only have 2 abilities and 1 passive so it doesn’t get too complicated. Oh and only one spec, because 2 or more confuses me.

What about that black dragon that was in the Blade's Edge mountains in Outland? The one you do quests for? I am sure he may or may not have information, and IIRC as far as up to the end of the "Fangs of The Father" legendary dagger set questline in Cataclysm, he was probably one of the only remaining black dragons who remained alive.

Bellular - seeing as how WoW has at its core a lot of high order concepts akin to aspects of Dungeons & Dragons, most likely, the Dragon Isles is a direct~ish pull from the D&D setting Dragonlance. In Dragonlance, they too have a Dragon Isles (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dragonlance_locations#Dragon_Isles). I suspect that, even though WoWs dragonflights really didn't come into being until after the protodrakes, Galakrond, and the Titan's intervention, and even though their primary graveyards are in Northrend/Dragonblight, these Dragon Isles will be the canonical "home" of the various flights. Just like with Dragonlance, I anticipate an isle belonging to each flight, showing similar properties to their graveyards (ie Blue's will be laced with Arcane energy and crystaline formations, Green's will be full of Nature/Dream magic and probably have a Dream portal tree, Red's will also be teeming with life and groves full of wildlife, Bronze's will be a desert/mesa environment, and Black's will be mountainous/lava filled areas. As to why its taken so long to find, and why Wrathion has had such a hard time finding it? Perhaps it is veiled like Dragonlances isles, but the veil only parted for dragons imbued with the Aspects power and lineage...something that no dragon on Azeroth now possesses. Perhaps only now has the protective magic faded...or perhaps it has been forceably broken by the Twilight AND/OR Infinite dragonflights...and what a fitting place it would be to travel to for the Ultimate Showdown of Dragon Destiny? :-D D&D's Eberron setting also has a similar concept as far as draconic homelands...the continent of Argonnessen (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragons_of_Eberron). One could also argue that Deathwing and/or Malygos's "much powa, destroy the world" plans harken back to D&D Dark Sun setting (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Sun). Finally, since we are on the topic of D&D pulls into WoW gamelore, draconic graveyards were around a long time in D&D, being really fleshed out in the Draconomicon (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draconomicon) books. Food for thought eh?

wow, so the Dragon Isles may be the next expansion, being what lies on the other side of Azeroth, beyond the great sea, which explains why no-one ever returned from voyages out there, cause the Dragonflights have been keeping that place a well kept secret.

A game/world like WoW/Azeroth NEEDS dragons. Part of the core fantasy. I hope this is HUGE! Love to see Alexstraza become a major player.

I just hope we get an explanation for where all these black and twilight dragons have come from since we supposedly wiped them all out several years ago in lore and the dragons can’t breed anymore. So how are they still laying eggs? Also, why don’t the remaining dragons just go wipe out the twilight eggs under Grim Batol? We cleared out the evil stuff in there so they should at least be able to do that. Regardless of plot holes I am glad to see that the dragons aren’t done and hope that they get a prominent role in the near future. Maybe Wrathion can convince me he isn’t evil by giving the dragons back the power they lost in the Cataclysm.

what I expect of the dragon isles is for there to be as of yet unknown titan facility on them. We know from what the maiden of vitality was saying in the heart chamber that there are at least 5 we have not seen yet. I do believe it will involve all of the dragonflights and perhaps will determine the future of them. They have lost most of their powers after cata and there are some text that says they can no longer breed either so no new dragons are being born out of the 4 main dragonflights. that last one I seriously doubt though but it could be true. The reason I doubt it is because we still see welps around in newer content. though what I could see happening is a new form of chromatic dragons. A combination of all of the flights into an uncorrupted form. Their powers somewhat restored but all future dragons born being of this chromatic flight.

The Cataclysm was MERELY A SETBACK.....

Maybe the Dragon Isles will be the next expansion, Blizz seems to love making tiny island based expansions to stall having to actually make use of the world of warcraft in World of Warcraft, so why waste these tiny islands on something silly like additional content when they could be an entire expansion's worth? Maybe the isles themselves will be sort of a larger hub zone with portals to several smaller sub-zones each representing the Dragon aspects, sort of like a bigger version of the Wyrmrest Accord. The expansion could be all about making the Dragon aspects important again, getting new ones in place of the fallen or perhaps resurrecting them somehow. Perhaps these twilight dragons somehow resurrect and corrupt Galakrond or Deathwing or something and we need to create/unite the dragons once again to defeat him and in the end maybe Alextrasza sacrifices herself to heal Azeroth and we become the new Red Dragon Aspect, King/Queen of the Dragons. Or maybe that happens right at the beginning and it's sort of like Legion where we're given this great responsibility as a third party as the new leader of the Dragon Aspects. ...Or maybe it's just a raid sized island expedition or something, idk XD

Where did the Titans create the dragon aspects? Maybe The Dragon Isle is a twilight overrun titan facility (Uldazi or Uldorus?). Perhaps this there could be a storyline where the dragon aspects are on a quest to reclaim this place and (with our help) to get their powers back [after sacrificing them to defeat Deathwing at the end of Cata] Its also a good time for Wrathion to fully graduate into Black Flight Earthwarder (unless Thrall has something to say about it) ..and maybe it works out... or maybe this is the moment in the timeline we accidentally create the Infinite Dragonflight. Leading to a Dragon / Old God expansion.Think of it as War of the Shifting Sands: Part 2. That's what I'd like to see.

I mean. The entire idea that the Dragon Isles are this super secret place is a pretty massive plothole overall. One that can only be 'partially' addressed if there's some world-ending Titan sealed thing there. Questions that need to be addressed for this reveal to actually make sense: Why have none of the Dragon Aspects ever brought it up? Has it been in danger before, why or why not? Did Deathwing know about it? If so and it's important, why did he not attack there? We literally have space travel and should know exactly where they are, how is it a mystery? WHY do dragons not want to talk about the place, even to allies or fellow dragons? Why's there literally no information about the place at all in Chronicle, despite there being a decently lengthy bit on the Dragon Aspects themselves? Why is Wymrest Temple, the centralized 'government' for Dragons located in Northrend and not this secret Dragon place? Is the place even important, why?

I'm hoping for a rise of the machines expansion.

Someone whispering to a living person means nothing in Warcraft. How many times has Uther and other heroic dead character's shown themselves or spoken to us, but are definitely not alive? There is definitely an afterlife for most people, Sylvanas and Arthas were two who we know were denied it though. There is nothing confirming Sintharia is "active" in the way you're suggesting. I guess we should suggest that any dead character we've somehow interacted with is both active and coming back. No, we shouldn't and nothing suggests Sintharia is doing the same.
