For one whole season JimmyB dressed out for games with the coaches not his teammates. DRose kept it real. The only people who don’t understand how that undermines team don’t understand whar being on a team means. U could still be cool but that won’t fly with a squad whether they speak on it or not. Even the thing in the heat bench wanting to fight Spo’ & talking about the hear is his team. It’s not a knock cause JimmyB is a baller but that tells a person’s mindset. It doesn’t make him an automatic bad teammate but ppl don’t get that most nba players including stars want to win but they want to win under them being that guy. Not knocking anyone it’s just true. What they say in the media doesn’t always fly. As good as JimmyB has been I keep telling ppl they need Bam to be that dude for them to be even better. Bam that closed out Boston in the bubble needs to be an every day thing, not necessarily those type of numbers regularly but JimmyB is said to encourage Bam & all that but they’re telling or treating Bam like “we need u to be 25+ & 10 reb a game every day which would make them more devastating. Some of that’s on Bam but all pro sports especially the nba are about pecking orders not about being the best a squad can be. If the top of the pecking order needs or should change up they usually don’t, just like golden st. They’d be even better if they made it about Wiggins getting 25+ a game cause him being that guy with his all around game enhances all he does and strengthens his mindset instead of ballin’ out and sometimes it’s unnoticed. Steph could still get his 25-30 Klay still hoops etc but everybody not truly about just winning & that’s not knocking any of them though many are like that. I’m not saying the hear can’t win but their room for error is less if Bam not coming to the gym knowing he’s putting up 25-10 every night. His ceiling for greatness is higher but because the media makes it all about who’s team it is that can’t happen unless JimmyB truly helps make it happen or Bam comes into camp saying “this is Me now” which Bam will probably never do for several reasons. Just because players ball & say the right thing to the media it doesn’t make them a great teammate or all about just winning. It’s a business. JimmyB came from the end of the bench & loves being the guy, he’s not trying to give that up.

The truth is you don't get the praise of being a winning mentality untill you win and upto that point he had never won anything. He doesn't have a ring but looking back now he has led Miami to 2 conference finals, the NBA finals and the best record in the east, he has won quite a bit since those days and the winning mentality thing can be considered legitimately valid.

probably because ben is the "good" and the "yes" guy, never talks back, never confronts, never argues etc, in essence the league is soft and the queens in the locker rooms don't want to hear criticism, because everyone gets a big pile of money, so make the "nba experience" great, why bust balls and work hard and try to change something when the big contract is already signed?

I think it's telling that the guys who really embraced him, Rondo and Pau, were winners and played with KG and Paul Pierce in Rondo's case and for Phil Jackson and with Kobe in Pau's case, to use an old, tired cliche, "Game recognize game". Couldn't be truer in Jimmy Butler's case.

A friendly reminder that the closest the sixers were making to the ECF is the 2018-2019 season. After that, Jimmy and the heat made it to the ECF twice and 1 finals appearance, while the sixers are basically just a playoff team destined to exit either the first or second round.

My first basketball game to watch was Jimmy playing in the heat back in 2020 and I fell with basketball that day. He's always been my favourite player and from what I've read about him, it seems like he was constantly being shoved in bad environments for someone of his work ethic and mentality. Being in Heat seems to have been the best thing to happen in his career. I'm always rooting for him to take the championships home.
