For decades, Boeing and, more recently, Airbus have dominated the commercial aviation industry. However, there's a rising contender from Brazil, Embraer, poised to challenge their dominance. Embraer's E2 series of jetliners is gaining attention, potentially reshaping conversations about major players in the industry. But what sets the E2 series apart?

The E175 is my favorite aircraft for comfort to this million miler. But the USA scope clause restricts regional aircraft over 76 seats which will drastically reduce sales in the USA of the new E2 aircraft. Not having the US carriers buying your aircraft is like not having Walmart to buy your houseware products.

This is why Delta purchasing the A220 us so important. If Delta is successful with this aircraft, that could give Embraer a chance to sell its E2 jets to American, United, JetBlue abd even Delta. They don't have to be regional jets .

@@RealMash of course. Did you know that Delta placed their order with BOMBARDIER AND NOT AIRBUS? This isn't about Airbus, but more about the viability of an aircraft that can actually compete with AIRBUS and Boeing of given the chance instead of being pigeonholed as only a regional aircraft maker. American airlines has placed an order for more E175s to upgrade its regional fleet. Southwest won't do it, but United airlines needs to look at the E195 E2s since it will be awhile before they can get their Boeing aircraft and an even longer wait if they tried to switch to AIRBUS . Alaska airlines is in a similar predicament.

American Airlines placed an order for 133 Embraer planes this month, at London City Airport. 70% of landings and takeoffs are on Embraer planes, as they are quieter and use less fuel... Embraer saved Ilha Airport of St Helena from being closed, as no plane was able to land on the Island due to the strong winds, only the E-190 managed, and saved the Airport, images from this Platform below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g750nMiK27_WlIk.html New technologies contributed to reducing the noise of Embraer's new generation of commercial jets, the E2, by 65% and carbon emissions per passenger by up to 25%, when compared to the previous generation. Emissions reduction can reach up to an impressive 85% when fueled with 100% sustainable aviation fuel (“European Inventor Award”).

Nothing bad happened. You can check in Embraer’s KZfaq channel the released video of the E190-E2’s VMU and other tests and see for yourself.

Undisclosed reasons? The 175-E2 is made for 90 passenger, but to enter on the law in the USA a regional plane ned to sit a maximum of 70 passenger, reducing from 76 passenger of the 175-E to only a 70 is OK, but from 90 to 70 is losing a lot, EMBRAER hoped to increase the limit upper, but they are Brazilians and the USA didn't increase the number of seats so the development is stoped until the USA law increase the maximum passengers on regional planes. Also, compare them to A220-300, the problem, Bombardier develop CSeries, to compete with EMBRAER 175-190-195 E, but they give the program to Airbus, Boeing break the contract with EMBRAER. The interior is decided by the company that buy the plane, not the constructor... but EMBRAER is a very good plane, with god layout.

What's the declared reason for that restriction ?
@loodwich
@loodwich Ай бұрын
@@ibrahimsued4906 accords with the unions of the USA pilots. The USA is so huge that the differentiation between regional flight and national flight is defined by the number of passengers, no for the length of that flight. If you could only fill 50-70 seats in every flight is a regional flight and you can apply for federal funds for helping the not commercial flights, if you fill more seats is a commercial flight and can not ask for that money. All the flights between california and Hawai are internal flights but fill more than 200 seats, so are commercial flights and can not apply the federal funds. But that capacity was stables on 1980 and didn't increase Jet.
@ibrahimsued4906
@ibrahimsued4906 Ай бұрын
@@loodwich Thank you. I also read that if a flight will be classified 'commercial' pilots wages will be higher, so the unions require regional to be as limited as possible. A bit said and illogical :(

This will be a US flop. Airline pilot contracts restrict the size of aircraft available for regional service (scope clause). The E-2 exceeds that limit and so must be operated by mainline carriers, or regional carriers who must pay pilots the same as a mainline carrier. Big mistake by executives at Embraer.
@marcellofms
@marcellofms Ай бұрын
Both the E190 and E195, in their E1 and E2 versions, never met US scope clauses, so much so that these models never achieved commercial success in North America. Embraer's focus in the United States has always been to sell the E170 and E175 and in this, the Brazilian company has achieved great commercial success. The issue is that because the new engines used in the E175-E2 are heavier, the model was not able to reach the maximum weight requirement. Embraer's mistake was to have trusted that this clause would be modified. However, despite the E175-E2 having its development halted, Embraer remains comfortable with sales of the E175-E1, as there is no other competitor on the market capable of meeting the scope clauses.
