The new indoor quail cage or quail coop is finished and the quails love it. A great cage to keep your quail as a pet. The bird gallery is expanding. Like and consider subscribing.

The more I watch animals and the relationships they have with each other, I realize they are just like us. They just have a different body.

I had a pair of quails that I trained to free-range my backyard without flying away (under my supervision, of course), my female (Queenie) would jump into my hand when I opened their cage to let me know she wanted out, while Quigley (my male Quail) would follow her everywhere and eventually learn the hand thing too lol.

That is super cool. My quails know me but are still cautious.

Quarter round beading fixed inside round the edges will stop sawdust from escaping, and could also be fixed in door frame to create a seal. It woul be better than tape.

The females are beautiful colour and pattern. My time is use coconut fibre as a bedding instead of sawdust. It's more natural looking, more absorbant of the poops, they can dust bath and dig in it. You can make it slightly damp to keep the dust down. It also absorbs all the bad smells and you rarely have to change it.

Did you cover up the sealing with something soft? Like Bubble-Foil or stuff like that? Some quails get spooked very easy and then hit the sealing head first when they try to fly off Nice Galery :)

Hello! I also raise quail and am thinking about possibly moving them indoors one day due to the rainy and windy weather. I've done it before so know it's possible, but I just wanted to ask, what type of bin are you using for their sand bath and where did you get it? It looks kind of rocky and natural, and it's really cute. I'd love to get one in the future but haven't had much luck looking for something similar.

@MrAviary

It depends on where you live. In summer they stay outside in winter I bring them inside. Play sand is better because you know it safe. Beach sand can bring all kinds of deseases.

@@MrAviary thank you! 💙 My quail just hatched the other day and they are in a brooder box as we speak 😁 At the moment I'm redoing the set up I have for them. I originally made it too tall so I'm trying to figure out how I will make it shorter for them so they don't hurt themselves 🤔 I'm thinking of splitting it into 2 levels.

@MrAviary

Depends on the size of your cage. Quails need a lot of space and can smell. bigger species need more speed and smell a lot worse. So I would go with button quails the smallest species
