I wouldnt mind a new map but i really want the dynamic seasonal weather changes we were promised 10 years ago, i should be able to play on one server and watch the seasons change from srping to winter, just on cherno and livonia, thats all us console players get anyway.

Im going to vote snow here. The last update added a bunch of could weather gear that is overkill for current temp settings on the official maps.

I think that this is very unlikely to happen because Dayz is an eastern European game with both Chenarus and Livonia both being post Soviet/eastern block countries. if they would add Tanoa in the game they would have to make lots of new items that can only be accessible on Tanoa which is based on Fiji a tropical island all the way across the world. this just wouldn't match Dayz being the eastern game it is.

i feel bad for console players that will never know how brilliant Namalsk map is, possibly the best gaming map of all time

Imagine if they made the whole Zagoria map. From East, Chernarus to the West Miroslavl, Kirovograd, to south west Novigrad, Primorsk, Belozersk at up north and Moschniy, Lyutyi, Utes islands at south coast

The 35 airstrip is a good point for it being this map. But I’d really prefer a snowy map for official :(

Tanoa is a horrible map for dayz tho. I don't see tanoa play like a survival map. It would just be like namalsk a pure PvP fest with no survival at all

the runway numbers are just an abbreviation of compass heading. so 35 runways is heading 350 degrees.

I don't know, the devs MUST be aware of Namalsk's popularity and the desire for snow maps in general, it'd be kinda shitty to do a bait and switch with the ONE thing the community really wants in a new map. That said, making Namalsk an official map AND dropping Tonoa would be an absolute showstopper, though I don't know how well Namalsk's more supernatural stuff fits in with what they want to do with official DayZ.

I think you're right. Snow fall would have more flakes falling. But, volcanic ash looks more like what was in the 10 yr anniversary trailer. Either way, I hope this means a new map coming to DayZ. For those of us on console, that would be especially good news.

Bitterroot is being tested now. Mattyice made it. It has eu,us,aus servers. It says "official play test" I been playing it all week. Great map. PC players are spoiled for choice. Really appreciate these dudes taking time to make new maps. Deer Isle is legendary and I play that more than chernarus. I got 2100 hrs in game.and played chernarus maybe 50. I played a pve server for my first 50 hrs to understand the controls and set it up to learn and to fish and heal etc. I always tell new players to do that

Dayz is almost 12 years old, Dayz Stand alone is 10 years old.

A few counter arguments on the tanoa topic: - none of the animals match the tropical setting => would need them to add new wildlife - most of the vehicles, weapons and themed clothing doesnt fit with tanoa which is a french island on the other side of the globe - dayz is still on the same engine than arma 3/arma 2 for map related stuff. The BI article about tanoa was for reforger and beyond. Right now in only a few clicks I could load chernarusplus on arma 3 and same for altis on dayz if I wanted to. "Porting" was work which would only benefit arma reforger and beyond, not dayz - Sumrak used the snow emojy in a tweet when talking about this same video as for which map then ? Who knows, maybe we already saw it once in the past ;)

It's cool to see my hot take theory make it's rounds as I was first to find 35, mention PS4 private dev test of Tanoa on DayZ and have ash / volcanic storm theory, it should be noted that Namalsk and snow is a possibility but obviously map and assets would need a major rework, ironically Namalsk runway is roughly 35/17 too 😮

I believe. Possibly are endless they’ve been sliding winter clothing in as well. We had white hunter gear for ages/years now. About time it matched the scenery

The flooring is completely different colouring and pattern on the 35 air strip in Tanoa and the one in the trailer

Tanoa would be so sick. After playing over 2000 hours of arma 3 dayz on tanoa it will always hold a special place

I think I was one of the first people who called out the possibility of it being Tanoa (my all time favorite official map for Arma 3) due to the "supposed" 35 marking and Aéroporte de Tanoa having the same markings, AKA, heading numbers, and the possibility of it being volcanic ash and not snow. Tanoa, my favorite official map, would be literally awesome....if....we get our promised helicopter and boats at least along with it... because while the crystal blue waters of Tanoa are warm and full of fishes, there's 5 main islands and a bunch of other smaller ones, and I don't want to be forced to swim everywhere... especially because Arma has helicopters, planes, boats, submarines, and scuba gear and flippers (and special underwater weapons)... I'm not swimming to my special island to where I always base at 😤 Regardless, I think it would be a dope addition, for those who haven't seen Tanoa, look it up.... it's a glorious tropical map, hidden temples deep inside the lush tropical foliage, hidden cannon batteries, the volcano, cool caves, and if I'm right, and it wasn't Exile doing it (could be), earthquakes.

The other thing with the snow/ash falling from the sky? Look at the reflections of the sky on the wet runway. It's not even overcast. It doesn't look like snow clouds. Look at the skybox now when it's either going to rain or it is raining and look at the reflections on the runway. Totally different. You might be on to something.

Probably already been said but the runway numbers equate to the compass bearing, so '35' is 350 degrees, pretty much North.

I believe! I really like the Volcanic ash theory, but I think your second theory is correct. I think the release will coincide with next years Winter cycle and we get Namalsk. Great video as always!

It's very unlikely to be Namalsk, it contains so many assets that have been ripped from other games like Stalker, so commercialising it as a DLC would be costly/impossible for Bohemia. An existing Arma map, like Tanoa would make sense, easy to port, relatively small, copyright owned, something a bit different.

Personally don't care what maps they add. But if they started adding maps with massive lakes or oceans around, it would be nice to see boats added. But not only to that map, but Cherno as well. Even adding mechanics where passengers can shoot from the boats making them defendable as you sail or power yourself down the coasts. A lot of different maps come to mind with this game mechanic as a prefix for the entire map. I know Helicopters will most likely never be brought in. But boats would be a great addition to the vehicle roster we have.

I am hoping for more of a Dayz2 for PC, PS5, and XboxX. This could be its small map yes. But I'm a big map fan

I've already stated that "It would be cooler if it were ash from a giant explosion. Maybe I'm just a Doomer." Volcanoes explode. GGs on the same brain wave.

Just want to make another point gameplay wise, how would ash work? We can see the volcano on this map isnt erupting, so we'd have constant ash raining 24/7 but no eruption? And what dynamic would falling ash add to the game? You made some good points - i didnt know tanoa was ported to ps4. That would save them a lot of time because they seem to take ages to achieve anything.. but aside from that, i just dont see how itd be this map. A small map with constant raining ash (completely pointless) without an eruption when we've all been wanting a snow map would be so disappointing.

This is actually a great theory of what’s to come, i mean however apart from the runway number i have to lean towards a snow map not only do i believe it makes the most sense for dayz to go in that direction but i believe it’ll sell like crazy on consoles since there isn’t access to multiple snow terrain maps. Plus not sure who exactly so i wont just guess but I’m pretty sure one of the heads at the dayz dev team made a post saying “exciting times ahead 😃❄️” Including a snowflake, it’s enough evidence for me.

In the questions and answers released by the devs they commented on new gameplay, Dayz is what it is, a survival game and Namalsk was made by a dev and is very successful, so a map with islands, where boats can be used, with airfields spread out all over the map and on all the islands, for me this is a new gameplay. Not to mention that just as Livonia is a ready-made ARMA 3 map and needs small adjustments, I believe that a 100% new map can only be found in a DAYZ2.

more likely they'll add snow areas to the existing chernarus map with new snow weather. could work like large gas zones with the snow particle effect instead of gas effect to keep snow localized, tie the trigger to cloud density. add in the frozen food mechanic and that would be sweet.

I mean the grass being green in the yellow king particle clip makes sense if it was snow because the video makes it out to be the "first" snowfall with the way he grasped it in his hand, just an assumption tho

Could be for Arma 4 Chernarus has multiple seasons in Arma 3 (Summer, Fall, Winter, Redux) and not to mention all the PC mods Takistan (desert map) which was a port from Arma 2 Tanoa being their premier/official Jungle map would be cool I would like to see other official settings in the DayZ universe - I thought Livonia was way too similar to Cherno

Tanoa could be okay if they give it massive reworks. But the simple fact is that islands separated by such huge amounts of water means that the map will be terrible for dayz gameplay. It's so restrictive and limiting to do that. Water doesn't provide interesting gameplay, its essentially just a roadblock where there is no content. Meaning every time you play, you are forced to travel around that roadblock. Gets really old really fast. I'm interested to see what they do though. I assume the devs would be aware of this problem

What's also interesting is that if you look at some of the recent updates (ie: underground bunkers, construction zones added to Livonia, etc)... there's a lot of instances on Tanoa where those elements fit in VERY well, almost on a template level. Since Chernarus, Livonia & Namalsk are all based on Arma 2 maps... if Tanoa comes to live I'm going to be VERY interested to see how differently the map looks/feels given that it's been built from the ground up in Arma 3.

I think the whole snowflake thing is only because it happens to be middle of winter holiday season when they're celebrating their 10 year anniversary,and when this video was released. The 35 thing,if true,is more of a clue than the snowflake.

Normally runways are numbered according to compass bearings irl. Find a 350degrees oriented Runway and find the map. Unless its new then wait and see I guess. But yeah, Tanoa looks likely.

Official Winter Cherno would be entirely pointless at this point, so we can write that off. Tanoa is about as small as I'd want a map to ever be. Even Namalsk is 144sq km (though it is relatively empty, and only feels as big as it does because of the early to midgame food and heat struggle, requiring a slower pace unless you're just cheese running it) For a 100sq km map I would hope they'd be spicing it up with underground stuff. I've always felt that DayZ could benefit from some more claustrophobic environments. With Banov and Deer Isle being both 256sq km, 100 might be a little too tight, and might get old kind of fast. 10x10 vs 16x16 is not a small difference. For a 10x10 I'd want the player cap to be not more than 40, and probably more like 30.

Hey @nitno Chiemsee is pronounced Kiemsee. And the 35 on the runway is way closer to the stripes than on Tanoa.

As a PS5 player, I am still saddened that developers hold themselves back for console games by only releasing games that will still run on the PS4. We have to call time on the old consoles at some point for heavens sake! Developers aren't shy about making new games with higher PC requirements, so stop holding back the Next Gen consoles. No reason why some games can't be left running on PS4 but we should be working on Next Get ONLY versions for sure! A Next Gen consoles only map will be welcomed and played - I assure you!!!

Just imagine...you paid for the Tanoa DLC in ArmA 3 and you have to pay for Tanoa a second time, if it will be the next DLC map for DayZ. 5head move from Bohemia xD

How would ash work on a map where the volcano is clearly not erupting? Im gonna be mad if its not a winter map. Console players have been asking for a winter map for a long time. Pc players already have it so its VERY unlikely we'll get namalsk but one can hope. I just dont think its going to be Tanoa

around 1:46 when you show the close up of the airfield, I'd be curious to see if that same clump of grass + crack in the runway exists in Arma 3. I'm guessing they mocked up the whole thing for the video, but it'd be interesting jus the the same. I'm on Team Tanoa as well.

I personally think that It will be a completely new map, becoz as you mentioned Tanoa is a tropical place and the guy in the video is dressed for the cold. I’m just happy theirs any kind of new update for console. I bought the game a few weeks ago knowing it was fairy old, and In this day and age of year old games being abandoned by AAA studios i was good just hearing about the trees being updated for stability fixes… so being told theirs a new map along with other items I was stoked. That being said, I’m confident in your theory of tonoa, the 35 on the runway is a pretty big clue. There can’t be that many airstrips with 35?

Namalsk isn't an option. The map is full of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. assets, reworking and polishing that into something BI can actually release is a huge effort. My guess is either Tanoa, a season changing system or something completely new.

Tanoa has sooo many enterable buildings, more suited for DayZ than Arma 3.

I would like to believe we get Tanoa for DayZ. Jungle Esseker looked great but I really miss Tanoa after all the Arma III Life servers shut down and I never really had a chance to play it much.
