Getting mine tomorrow. Me personally i only want sfp for hunting and this is what it ill be used for. I have had issues on close shots where need on low power for dense cover and ffp reticles tend to be way small on low power for my liking.

Predator hunting and most hunting rifles sfp is perfect.

Just got mine in today and I am quite impressed. Ordered an sv-2 throw lever to adjust magnification quicker. Kind of bummed it's not FFP, but it packs a punch compared to the VX5HD I returned that was double the price. Looking forward to hearing your take on it!

Saw one of these at the local gun shop. Compared the glass back to back with a Leupold VX-5 and Mark 4HD, and was thoroughly impressed.

I like the 2-10 as it sits for a straight hunting scope, but as I told vortex , a second offering for tactical and or longer range use would be really cool. That said they still have the pst 2-10 , so maybe they are thinking that one fills that role. Idk

What do you think about the short eye relief of 3.4"? Is it a reason to complain?

It sounds good until I find out it’s push button illumination and doesn’t have a Christmas tree reticle. Seems like I’m already upselling myself. I doubt I’ll have time to dial anything in while whitetail hunting. Seems I could aim faster with Zeiss, Steiner and Trijicon; or even a razor HD. But I don’t want to spend $2,500 on a scope to get those features. Last season I harvested six whitetails using a 1-4 Trijicon Accupoint with a green post and a 1.5-6 Nikon with a number 4 reticle. I think maybe LPVOs are the better choice for shots on close and running whitetails. 6 ARC has some long range potential; but I think if the shot is too long for a 1-10 Credo then the bullet will have run out of energy for a whitetail.

@@txpredatorhunting And thanks to your review I don’t throw good money after bad trying to find the suitable optic. I should just stick with what’s been working; but it’s fun to try new setups. I’m way to particular!

@@308blr2 optics are no different than the platforms they go on. Define the job , then find the best tool to do it. Fortunately now days, we have a bunch of tools to choose from . It allows us to really dial in a system that works perfectly for us.

Being anal I’m sure; but this old boomer forgot that last season I only harvested five whitetails with LPVOs. One was at 12 yards while saddle hunting with a 535 grain arrow.

Have several vortex scopes, Leupold and Arken for the price Arken is hard to beat really durable and tracking. The Leupold is better at everything but cost twice as much. The vortex are not as durable as either and cost like the Leupold. Why would I pay the same for less VX5/6 are 19 oz.

You never owned a Vortex, I’ve owned Vortex from the Diamondback, Strike Eagle, Viper up to the Razor and have never had one fail.

I went down the rabbit hole of comparing this to the 3-15 venom. Minus the venom weighing as much as a G-Wagon the venom stacks up amazingly well at hundreds less. How does the viper justify its price difference? Don’t say “weight”

Viper has better glass and illumination. But I’m not here to justify anything. Just telling you what I’ve seen .
