I haven't seen many races where I have thought the jockey whipped the horse too much to win a race. I have however seen several instances of jockeys causing intentional interference almost to the point of dangerous riding to win several big races. Maybe get the basics of the sports right, stop the actual cheats who know what they are doing and stop trying to sanitise our sport. Sadly it's probably going to take a big pile-up or serious injury for the rules to be amended.

having seen jockeys overuse the whip in top races to win acclaim and knowing a ban and fine would be the punishment did not deter them. i came to the only conclusion and that was elimination.

The primary use of the whip should be to steer to maintain safety in running and to encourage a horse when maximum effort is sought - e.g. during the final stage of a race. The number of times it is seen used to strike a horse and where upon the horse's body ARE relevant to ensuring care and consideration towards the animal. Surely, any sign of "injury" or other visible indication of distress immediately after a race should be checked - and witness evidence noted, with action taken as enccessary. But the Sport must guard against over-reaction to vested interest criticism that would, unless dealt with rigorously, see horse racing eliminated altogether. There is a relentless policy of the "personification" of animals that needs to be challenged if we are not to fall hapless victims to what I see as the "Walt Disney" view of the world.

So the whip can be used 10 times on the flat and 11 times over jumps. This is the new maximum threshold beyond which disqualification occurs. Who is counting this ? Will replays be done after each race such that the result now won’t be declared official until whip count has been ratified and the jockey weighed in? What if a mistake is made and racing tv evidence counts one extra whip stroke 24 hours later upon more detailed analysis rather than a single steward on a busy race day counting whip strokes of 3 horses in a close finish from the 2 furlong pole. Did the whip make contact ? Was the horse only shown the whip? How are the people betting on the race able to see this in running? Are they now having to pick the winner and also count whip strokes. How does this prevent deliberate disqualifications and races being thrown at smaller tracks? How is this determined in bad weather conditions?

When I was riding a new whip was invented that made a loud crack but when hit on the hand created no pain whatsoever so It did not hurt the horse in any way. What’s the problem? It’s the perception of Ill treatment and excessive force.

One of the most ridiculous rules, and Horse Racing the whip used in today’s racing doesn’t harm or hurt the horse at all people that enforce this role don’t understand Horse Racing tracks that strictly enforce this rule I won’t bet a Tencent super factor at that particular track in all sports there are way too many rules, and some make no sense at all. This is one of them.
